Glad I tried it again after long absence

Tee time delayed 30 mins due to not enough carts , even though the course wasn't full. Somehow the course was still backed up , no marshalls moving groups along, why there was a single mixed in I don't know. Round took about 5.5 hrs with the delay.

$50 for a shared cart (25 each) is terrible - especially when they are in such bad condition (takes 5-7 seconds to start each time you want to go, this happened with last two carts I had)

The course plays long. Lots of rolling terrain. Fairways are excellent, rough is long, the way it is supposed to be and the greens are good.

I appreciate the staff for resolving the issue, but I had to point it out before anything was done. The booking information clearly stated that the price included both the green fee and a cart. However, it didn’t, and there wasn’t even an option on the Hot Deal booking to add or pay for a cart separately, so naturally we assumed it was included.

In the end, we were charged an additional $45 for the cart, bringing the total to nearly $80 per person. At that price, it is absolutely not worth it. There are plenty of other courses in much better condition for the same price or even half the cost.

The greens were extremely rough, the grass looked like it hadn’t been cut, and the ground was very hard. It took us 4 hours and 20 mins to finish and the people behind us was extremely rude who talked so loud whenever we teed off. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.

It's just a course where you can spend your day off with your husband enjoying exercising and spending a relaxing day together. All the staff are friendly, including affordable amounts. It seems like the

re's nothing more needed.

I recently played Newcastle Golf and Country Club with high expectations given its reputation and premium pricing. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of the cost.

At nearly $60 per 9 holes (including cart), this is one of the most expensive public/semi-private courses in the area. For that price point, I expected immaculate conditions, thoughtful course management, and a memorable experience. Instead, I encountered consistently poor course conditions that made for a frustrating round.

The fairways were patchy and uneven, with large areas of thin turf and bare spots that made consistent ball striking difficult. The rough was overgrown in some areas and nonexistent in others, offering little penalty or strategy. Greens were the biggest disappointment—slow, bumpy, and showing clear signs of stress with visible scarring and inconsistent speeds. Several greens had significant bare spots and poor drainage, leading to soft, muddy areas even though we hadn’t had heavy recent rain.

Bunkers were poorly maintained, with compacted sand and inconsistent depths. Multiple bunkers had very little sand, turning what should have been a standard hazard into a punishing lie. The overall presentation felt neglected rather than premium.

While the layout itself has some interesting holes and potential, the conditioning issues undermined any enjoyment. Pace of play was also slower than expected, partly due to the condition of the course.

The facilities and staff were polite, but that alone cannot justify the premium rates being charged. At this price, golfers have every right to expect well-groomed fairways, smooth and true greens, and properly maintained hazards. Sadly, Newcastle Golf and Country Club is currently not delivering on any of those fronts.

Bottom Line: Unless you’re local and can play at a significant discount, I cannot recommend Newcastle Golf and Country Club at its current rates. There are far better-conditioned courses in the region offering much stronger value. Hopefully management invests in serious improvements soon, because the bones of the course deserve better care.

This was my first time playing Newcastle Golf Club. I chose to come play on Canada Day with my nephew and his stepdad who have played here so many times in the past.

This golf course is very tree-lined and accuracy off the tee is an absolute must! The fairways are reasonably wide open, however the par 4's and 5's are very long. We played off the white tees and I underestimated how long they were.

Now, it was a very hot day and I mean extremely hot! However, it plays true and fair and you do have to hit driver accurately off the tee. Even though the fairways are wide and open, you MUST hit them because the first and second cuts of rough grass is thick and punishing. There is a lot of undulation and if you hit parts of the fairway in an awkward spot, you will pay dearly when the golf ball rolls into the rough.

The greens were the star of the course. They were beautifully manicured, cut well and rolled near perfect. I've never seen such spectacular greens where putting is honest and clean.

All in all, a really good golf course that is visually open, yet very tough to score on. I would like to come back and try it again, maybe in the Fall.

I booked a 240 tee time online. Got there and apparently at 515pm a shotgun start league was booked. The course had apparently called golfnow to for them to correct the listing 3 wks in a row but nobody there updated the info. This has happened a few times now and it will likely happen again next week to someone else. Maybe rest of summer? Sadly his is kinda what we ve come to expect given we run everything thru the supposed, digital, 'better way'. So we compromised. I suggested I would pay for 9 and play until 515. So worked out. Staff very courteous.

The second cut is way too long at about 3”. You cannot see your ball or strike it!

Sneaky tough course. Front nine is a tough course to walk ., but back is much flatter.. highly recommend walking this course.

Will definitely play again and recommend to friends and family.
