Black Diamond Golf Club
About
Black Diamond Golf Club was carefully carved from the foothills and hardwood and pine forests of the Kawartha Oakridge Moraine. The natural landscape, which is covered in fescue, provides many challenges including several elevation changes and water hazards. The layout is unique in that the front nine is more of an open, links style with a double green and numerous pot bunkers, while the back nine has a more traditional North American character. Black Diamond Golf Club's back nine has a few tricky blind shots that present a formidable test for players of all skill levels. The golf course also has rolling fairways lined with trees, carefully sculpted mounding, and 70 strategically placed bunkers throughout.

10th Green Photo submitted by jgolfd on 08/10/2016
Excellent Greens
The greens are in excellent condition, very large and fairly fast. There had been rain recently but the course had drained well ... so that carts could drive anywhere
Bunkers need a bit more sand.
Enjoy playing this course
Front nine - links style back nine - parkland setting.
Challenging holes on back nine, i.e #10 and #11,- (over the pond) narrow fairways on #13 with the dogleg par 5... Some greens were a challenge with severe slopes and undulations. tough on a dry day.
Love the back nine
Course was in good shape and offered plenty of challenge. The back nine is a personal favorite. The staff where excellent and our group have an awesome day on the course.
This course has a challenging back 9
This place is well maintained! The clubhouse sits on top of the hill and the natural view around is superb specially in the fall.
Both fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Easy front 9 and a challenging back 9.
The guy in the pro-shop was so courteous and the staff we met outside are friendly too. We'll be back!
Fall golf
Great conditions for late October. Quick round and great facilities. Greens still fast.
Great course, friendly staff!
Black Diamond is a gem! The course is in great shape and the staff are friendly.
the drive in was amazing
The drive in was amazing as the course was groomed to perfection. The greens where Augusta like, a little hard. Outstanding views on the back 9 of all the fall colors.
5 star course quality made affordable for the average joe.
Pro's
Golf now hot deal was a very fair price for this course. The course conditions were perfectly awesome.
The starter was fantastic - friendly, happy, helpful and appreciated.
Con's
Course cart was in need of repair. Poor breaks, wouldn't start a few times and low quality for a 5 star course.
Maintenance staff could use a lesson in etiquette. Shouldn't the golfer come first? Waiting in front of a green for the mower to finish and never turning the mower off makes it pretty hard to enjoy your round.
Food - there was no food and drink cart on the course. There was no food staff inside for the 5 minutes we waited after our round.
Note to management
Having a five-star facility requires the paying guests to feel spoiled. The course itself was fantastic but the lack of the staff and low quality equipment needs improvement if you're looking to improve. If all your staff were as friendly as Ron the starter then more people would be impressed.
The low rating for food and beverage quality is simply because we didn't get any service. Zero effort from you means I can't give a rating. Sad really, I'm sure there was food there somewhere.
Good Course
an easy front 9 and challenging back 9, don't think this course is suitable for beginner. Some nice scenic view in the back 9. Not a bad course overall.
I like this course.
All the staff are very friendly, the course with a good facilities. In the font nine holes and back nine holes have different characteristics.
Great course
Nicely manicured fast greens
Great place great price!
worth to ride
Love the green , hard and fast . Course 's condition is good . Service staffs are excellent . We booked for 3 players but show up 4 , but they managed to squeeze us in . Highly recommend
Worth the trip
Read a lot of mixed reviews with some people not liking some of the holes on the back nine. There were a couple that I could live with out, but overall a great value. Conditions were very good and the greens were very quick.
An excellent golf experience less than an hour from toronto
Great value on a course which is challenging to play
quick greens
Had a great time would like to try again when theres a special pricing
A real gem.
Very challenging course. Has all kinds of terain and
enough variety. The scenery is breath taking and on some holes you feel like your playing out west.
The greens are very fast and well maintained. Watch for no. 16 sharp dogleg right, you have to pin point the ball 190 yds. just infront of the bunkers so you have a chance to go for the green.
Excellent course.
Great course
Played it Friday afternoon and got through 18 holes in 3.5 hours. Lots of elevation changes with lots of blind shots (had a GPS which helped a ton as this was my first round there). Greens were hard and fast.
Will go again.
Not a good golf course
From the reviews, I can only gather that those who seem to think this is a decent golf course are not golfers.
The back nine is a strong contender for the worst 9 in the province, with ski slope after ski slope. The par 5 13th, for instance, a downhill left to righ dogleg, my playing partner had to lay up with a lob wedge from the centre of the fairway, I hit a pitching wedge over the trees to the front edge.
There are a bunch of silly holes like that one.
But even despite the silly holes, I used to play this course once or twice a year because I knew and respected the former pro and owner, Darren Stalteri. He ran a golf course that was committed to customer service. My recent encounter, where the Marshall asked me, "do you want to do my job?" when I asked why we were standing 3 groups on a teebox the whole back nine shows, as well as the assistant in the shop who seemed like he was bothered to look up from watching television when we went in to discuss the matter, just how far from Darren's days the customer service today is.
I won't be returning to this place and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Terrible customer service!
I playedwith two of my brothers, and the front 9 was played in 2 hrs., but we waited on EVERY SHOT on the back 9! I mentioned my concern to the 'marshal' and he replied "you want to be marshal?" I also brought my concern to the pro shop staff and all they wanted to do was argue about the wait, and had no intention or concern about resolving the issue or my being unhappy with pace of play. This course has the worst customer service I've seen in quite a while, and it's not cheap! Definitely not worth driving from Toronto to play a course that doesn't care about the golfer.
