A wet day
Course was wet today as we did receive over an inch of rain over night. Pace of play was a little slow today but being that is only the second weekend since opening up for covid 19 rules they are doing a great job. Staff very friendly and willing to help and explain all the rules of play. Over all great job!!
Covid-19 friendly!
Everything was organised very well.
Staff friendly and with masks.
Elevated cups.
Course in excellent shape.
Was very enjoyable!
Decent course
Even though the course is not a championship course, it is a interesting course to play. Not everyone wants a long course to play, and this course fits in that category.
Slowest greens in the world. I should’ve made more putts! Perfect golf day.
Fun course
Nice course to play on a sunny fall day. Unfortunately the leaves are starting to fall, making it hard to find your ball. Nice new outdoor patio to sit in the sun and have a beer after the game. Better now with new management.
Classic parkland course
Mature parkland course with some great holes that require a variety of shots. It appears they are adding features to the course (bunkers), if they keep up this work many holes will become very challenging.
Fine Outing
My partner and I practically had Pt. Dover G@CC to ourselves on our Friday, the 13th outing. The course was in remarkably good shape benefitted by the overnight rainfall.
This was my 4th time at Pt. D. this season while my partner was playing the course for the 1st time. He was duly impressed. If you have never golfed here, you owe yourself a treat.
Speaking of treats, do try the sausage from the restaurant.
Course in great shape.
I might be bias as this course is only 6 minutes from home. I have played here 6 times now and the staff are professionals and eager to answer questions. The course it self is in great shape and you can tell the new owners are butting money back into it making it better. With the tree lined fairways and smaller greens you really need to play the fairways to score well here. My only suggestion is please purchase some colour flags for the greens so we the golfers can tell where the cup is located on the green. Front middle back flag colours would be great.
Nice Outings but.....
My partner and I played Pt. Dover twice recently. The first round we played from the back tees (no yardages provided) which was a mistake since it made the course too long for us. The second time we hit from the blues which was a more forgiving distance (card=5700 yds) and each hole had a sign with the yardages posted for the whites and the blues which was very helpful.
Have seldom played a course where you have to guess the location of the pins (front, middle and back) since the flags were all blue. Surely the club could invest in 12 flags (6 white and 6 yellow) to aid golfers in determining this vital information and as a bonus it might contribute to a faster pace of play?
Speaking of pins and greens.....most of the holes were cut so close to the fringe it made it extremely difficult to pitch/chip and putt. My partner and I had multiple 3 putts on both our rounds. The greens are slick and undulating (especially #8) which made putting most challenging.
The course is well designed with many doglegs and a number of holes approachable over water ( par 3#11 is particularly treacherous). Since the fairways play fast it is best to land your approach shots in front of the greens. Many of the holes have greenside bunkers which were well maintained.
The pro shop, restaurant and beverage cart personnel were extremely friendly. However, my partner and I had
a bit of a problem with the beverage cart lady who although very amiable was too often in our faces to the point of being somewhat of a distraction at times.
PD links have excellent practice facilities and the prices for our rounds were a very good deal through GN.
Alot of the tee blocks are very un even which is frustrating when your constantly hitting your drive on weird slants.
Fun to play
Port Dover is a fun place to play not too long and fairly forgiving and it’s not hard to walk.
Fun to play
Port Dover aka Lynn Meadows is a fun course to play forgiving on some holes hard on other. The ladies tee are up enough some with a decent drive you ave a chance to get to the green in regulation. Contact with the staff was short and sweet and it’s fairly flat so it’s not bad to walk
Great Mature Course
Course is in really nice shape. Greens are nice and have there own little obstacles. Tee blocks are firm I feel they could use a little more water. Fair ways are cut nicely and first cut is a little longer then I am use to.
Rag tag course
Cheap course reminded me of burford
You get what you pay for
Course was in good shape tee blocks are very hilly and in even. They definently need to flatten them out.
