Not for this golfer!
Brant Valley is a picturesque short 18 hole layout nestled in a quiet valley traversed by a creek easily accessible from Brantford, Cambridge and west Hamilton. From the tips the course measures 5700 yds and plays to a par 71. Over half the holes are doglegs. The best hole is the par 3 17th which requires a 175 yd carry over the creek from the tips.
Except for the first hole there are no bunkers and the fairways and greens are in average to poor condition. Some of the greens are ridiculously tiny with many subtle breaks. Most of the tees are very small and on many it was difficult to find a level stance for where to strike your tee ball.
Because of the severe elevation changes Brant Valley is almost impossible to walk (I spotted only one group of walkers) and many of the cart paths are harrowingly steep with severe pot holes and even missing pieces of asphalt. Perhaps this is why there was no beverage cart service the day I played when the course was doing a brisk business.
There are no practice facilities except for a postage size putting green. Each tee box, however, has a detailed map of the hole with accurate yardages from the 3 sets of tees.
cant wait to play this course in the sunshine. lol
the weather was very warm but very wet we did however get to play without getting wet the course seemed to be in great shape and the staff was very friendly n helpful. we really enjoyed our day and will go back and play the course again for sure however we did not get to try any food or sit on their patio this time
Adequate
Priced according to course level. Nice and close to city for a quick round.
Not great
The course was not in good shape at all. Temporary tee boxes and temporary greens. Loads of leaves on some fairways. Staff is not friendly. Value for the money was not good at all. I was very disappointed with the conditions of the course.
brant valley
it was a great course to play,it not far from where I live
pretty course, not great condition
The condition of the greens and carts were terrible, the fairways were ok.
The layout of this course is stunning. Too bad the greens were nt in great shape.
From a course layout perspective, it is absolutely stunning. If they brought up the level of quality on the greens it would be at a 5 star level.
This course was under maintenance
We arrive for a 9:00 AM tee time and there was frost so they made us wait an hour and bunched up all the groups in line. They didn't need to wait that long it was unnecessary. Then we heard that they were sanding the front nine so they started the groups off the back nine with the goal of playing the front nine to complete the round. Unfortunately the sanding machine broke down and we had to play the back nine again. The 18th green on the back nine had huge holes in the green from one of their machines. terrible day.
Fall Time 18
It was really wet when I played and the greens were full of holes and covered with leaves. I hit the green a few times and my ball sunk in.
The price was right and we had a great time. I will play there again.
frost
brant valley has a problem when it comes to frost delay. we had to wait until 9:20, 1hr and 30 mins for a frost delay when there was no frost. the other courses in the area had no such delay. i will not recommend this course .
quite challenging
Had a great time and quite challenging you have to know how to place your shot !!!
Nice golf course
Played this course on a slightly rainy day, had the entire course to ourselves. The course was fairly well maintained, but could use a bit more tlc. The staff was really nice, I would golf they're Shaun bit it wouldn't be my first choice.
wet and uncut
Played Brant Valley Monday and was quite disappointed! The weather being cool and foggy did not help the early morning tee time. The rough was uncut for probably a week....it was 6 inches long and difficult to find your ball! The tee boxes are really uneven with may bare without much grass! The greens were sub-par and even worse mostly uncut with heavy due on them making putting virtually impossible.
On the plus side the course is very interesting with many nice views. If in better condition it would be a pleasure to play! I guess for the price it is hard to complain.
1st won't be the last
Loved this course, when I go to play a round of Golf it isn't just about my score or ability to hit long drives, I enjoy a course for the setting and Brant Valley is Beautiful, with numerous elevated tees hitting into a valley with rivers meandering back and forth. Beautiful, simply the most picturesque course I have played, maybe ever.
slow and wet
Course has a neat layout. ..slow pace due to amount of people playing almost overbooked you could say...nice play to play if it isnt busy.
Good Challenge Course
This course doesn't play long, but if you spray the ball then you're in trouble. The course presents many challenges, and is well worth to play. The condition from tee blocks to greens was pretty good. Very hilly, p/cart recommended.
Beautiful little course nestled into the Brant Valley
Don't expect to hit driver much, as this tightly wound track rewards positional iron play. Given the amount of rain we've had this year, the fairways and greens are soft, so if you get your distance right, you'll enjoy the results.
Shorter course, but challenging.
This course has a lot of dog leg holes in both directions which despite the shorter overall length adds to the challenge. Typically it is in good shape, but after a good rain takes a few days to dry out. My only complaint is the cart paths aren't in the best shape.
This course was in very good condition
The course was in very good condition. The pace of play was excellent with no waits at the tee. Although it is not a long course, it has an interesting layout with some challenging holes and excellent views. a GPS would be very helpful for first time visitors. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
