Brenham Country Club

About
Originally a 9-hole course, an additional nine holes were added in 1993, making this a very challenging 18-hole layout with a few monster holes from the back tees (6,721 yards). The course features wide, tree-lined fairways and small greens, as well as water that comes into play on almost half of the holes.
One local told us that short-iron play was important; however, that’s hard to imagine considering the length of some of the holes. Three holes stand out from the tips: Two par 5s play 600 yards or better (No. 11 is 643 yards), and No. 3, a 247-yard par 3. The rest of the layout is of a more reasonable length, particularly from the middle tees, where there are a few short par 5s under 500 yards as well as par 4s around the 300-yard range.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 290 west and turn right on FM 577. Turn right on Hwy. 105. The course is located 2.5 miles away on the left-hand side of the road.

Cool weather
Perfect fall conditions. Staff friendly and helpful. Course is in good shape. Greens are super fast and not holding. Be gentle or your off the green. Stay in the fairway and enjoy the roll out. Good fun.
Fall
This course is a gem, put it on the list to play. Friendly staff and course is in great shape. Keep in mind where Blue Bell is as all putts break to the creamery. It's the holidays so if the family is out in front of you, their creating memory's. Come on guys it's the holidays. Enjoy the golf, it could be August.
Solid course for the average golfer
Wasn’t sure what to expect given some of the reviews I’ve seen. But was pleased overall with my round. Staff was really helpful and kind getting me set up. I did have to pay $18 for a cart in addition to the fee paid on GN.
The layout of the course is simple, not overly challenging (my handicap is at an 8 and I play 1/2 rounds a week), and fun. I would highly recommend bringing a range finder as the GPS app on my watch got confused multiple times. Overall though, the average golfer should not have much trouble - there are few hazards and the course is pretty wide open, although it is easy to get turned around and play the wrong fairway if you aren’t careful.
The fairways were hard but in relatively good shape. Some dead spots on the greens and they were very firm. But I was happy given I booked last minute. All in all, I would play again. Just not frequently.
Sweet little course
While trying to find a course to play on a Friday, this one popped up. Went there not knowing what to expect. It was a friendly little corse with some of the fastest, trickiest greens I’ve encountered in a while. The fairways also well taken care of, and the sand traps are soft white powder. I’ll be back for sure.
Slow
The course is in great shape after all the rains. Maintenance has been working to improve the experience. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are some duffers that will play 5/6'ums and will not step aside even for a single. Really? They must hate their wives and have 5+ hours to kill. I would suggest jumping them and contine on.
It's really hot so make sure you have enough water.
Great value
Course is currently in great condition. The layout is slightly confusing and is a bit a of a narrow course which leads to groups playing on other fairways after bad drives. But that’s what adds to the difficulty of the course along with small defensive greens. The Rough is actually rough and is penalizing which is a positive for the course. Overall it’s a great course for the money.
Over priced / over valued
Over priced. Over valued. They think too highly of their course. You can find a lot better courses for cheaper.
Better than recent reviews lead you to believe
I am not sure if they just took the recent reviews to heart or if the previous folks were just expecting too much. This course was a good value for the money and was in decent shape. The greens rolled well and we’re pretty consistent though not incredibly fastpay was an issue on the front nine but once we made a Marshall aware he remedied it quickly. The Marshall did tell me that Tuesday is their busiest day and the next time I come out I should avoid Tuesdays, which is a great tip. I would certainly come back out here and play again.
We were charged 16.00 each for carts. So if your not walking expect another 16.00 charge to play.
Saturday before Easter so I expected it to play slow so that was the fa not a I the they ran out of golf carts some ways were slow some fast greens were bumpy there were only 2 or three greens that the grass had grown in a lot of the fairways don’t have grass
Easter
With sandwiching golf in between Good Friday and Easter pace was about what you should expect. Course is in good shape and bluebonnet coming in.
Just a side note to the jerk ahead. Even the PGA guys lose control of a ball ever now and then. There's no need to yell and carry on. I'd like to see a younger generation take up the game. At least as unwelcome as your comments were you probably won't be around to be a jerk much longer. Good riddance.
The staff and playing partners made the day. Looking forward to seeing you again.
