The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

Bunkers need work
Overall, our round was extremely enjoyable and the golf course (Tee boxes / fairways / greens) were in excellent condition. Some of the views and vistas were outstanding.
However, I was quite disappointed to find most of the bunkers unplayable. The bunkers that have been worked on were okay, but not great. It wasn't worth the money we paid due to the bunkers.
Great Views and Great Golf
The golf course is right on Georgian Bay with views of the bay from many holes. The course is challenging and in great shape. They are upgrading many bunkers with excellent drainage and great sand.
Builders Club to construct housing
this course has gone steadily downhill in terms of service and maintenance every since it was purchased by Great Guld. It seems the owners only interest is in building houses on every possible space along every fairway. Bunkers are terrible with poor sand and lots of weeds. Greens are mediocre and fairways okay.
They have reversed the layour changing the starting hole at what previously was hole # 10.
No putting green. Altogether a course I used to play several times a year until last year. I wont play it agiain.
Unplayable Bunkers
I was really excited to finally play this "amazing" course, and had promised to take a few friends out with me. The first few holes everything was great. Fairways, immaculate. Greens, perfect. Sand in the bunkers, soft as possible. Then the bunkers, which are absolutely everywhere, became unplayable. Signs marking them off as ground under repair. I'd say at least 50% of the bunkers on the course were like this. Hard packed ground, tons of weeds growing in them, and the lips of all of them were brutal. For a course that advertises themselves as this amazing, top tier course, it was a blight on their reputation. At.the price I paid, I would not even think about playing there again.
The course is not in good shape. Many of the bunkers have no sand and are full of weeds. had no
Lora bay should let people know the state of the bunkers before the round is booked. It is way too costly given the shape the course is in. Very disappointed.
Lora Bay worth the trip!
The course was in very good condition despite the fact they are reconfiguring the nines and it is in transition.
Pace of play was excellent as were the staff.
Conditions iffy
This is a great layout with very interesting holes and difficult greens.
However, the bunkers are being redone and many were not in good condition. The staff at bag drop were friendly but the food and beverage was closed for a staff event so we couldn’t even sit down for a drink.
I feel the value was “under par” because of the current conditions. I would like to play it again when all maintenance has been completed.
Great Potential
They need to fix the front nine and bring it to the standards of the back nine. It’s like playing two different courses
Always Excellent
From the time you arrive, till you leave, you always feel welcomed. The staff at check-in and on course are friendly and accommodating. The course was in great shape. We hadn't played here in a couple years and were initially surprised that the front and back nines were flipped, but understand why once we started playing. Thanks for a great round and see you again soon!
Great
Good layout, several bunkers under renovation. Otherwise in great shape.
Bad overall experience
Nice location and young golf bag handlers very friendly. But major problems with the way the course is managed - no warning that 1st hole was labelled #10, no local rules informing people about the many waste bunkers (unmaintained areas that look like bunkers) so many people don’t know the rules of play for them and think they are bad sand bunkers, no marshal and very slow play, very poor restaurant management as we made a dinner reservation by phone but dining was closed for a private event and we were told we should not have called to make the reservation and should have booked online - implying it was our fault for calling and they didn’t care that we were not able to eat there. So… bad overall experience.
What happened?
This course used to be my fave in the area but it now pales in comparison. It’s so run down and the bunkers are some of the worst I’ve seen and worse since I played it a couple months ago when I was told ‘we’re fixing those.’
If that’s the best Great Gulf can do, I’d hate to see the quality control at the houses they build.
Feels like the person signing the cheque has given up on this course.
