The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

No bar cart, during a hot day
No ability to purchase drinks during an afternoon golf round being very hot.
always love playing the course
On such a sunny day a cart person would have been great so a cold water, beer etc could have been purchased. Half way house is over 2 hours before a drink is available. Heat stroke, diabetics any golfers with other medical conditions would appreciate this service! If no cart girl, all carts should be equipped with an ice filled cooler. This was done in the early years.
Great experience but could have been better
Played Lora Bay for the first time in a few years.
There were tow foursomes ahead of us playing extremely slowly and no sign of a marshall. Expected better for the price.
Course is in decent shape. Many sand traps have raised barriers inside the trap which causes balls to hit and bounce away. Many sand traps are neglected and in bad shape.
The starter did not share that the 9s had been flipped, 1 was really 10 and 10 was 1. Could have been much better communicated.
Food and beverage were way too expensive.
Worth playing every few years but has lost value since last played
Disappointing
Course is nice but pace of play was a joke. No Marshalls anywhere. You can’t charge a premium price and not ensure a reasonable pace of play. Would not come back
Course needs work.
We played the course for the first time after having heard it is a very nice track. The clubhouse was nice. However the course was disappointing. The layout and design are good however there is a lack of grooming that was evident throughout the course. Miss a fairway, and if you are lucky you will find your ball. The greens ran at a good pace but I doubt they have seen a rolling in quite a while. Seemed rather lumpy. Half the bunkers were ground under repair. They rerouted the course and front nine is now the back nine and vice versa. The boulders that mark the holes still indicate the wrong hole numbers. We were told about this but it makes you wonder why they can’t fix this. Not what you would expect when paying full fare. The value is just not there. Perhaps when they finish whatever they are doing the value will be there. But for now we are in no hurry to return.
Very few water views
The clubhouse, practice facility and landscaping around the clubhouse are nice. The course is very average with only the 18th hole that has an open water view. ( i was expecting to see more water views which was very disappointing). We paid $180 for a course that should not be charging more than $120.
We were also 18 minutes behind on our round with slow play in the groups ahead of us with no course marshalls that we saw.
Also, if you are hungry bring your own food. They charge almost $20 for a wrap or sandwich at the turn.
Quo Vadis lora bay
I played Lora Bay twice, once before and once after the acquisition by an American company.
Although the course layout is still great, I feel that the management of the course has slipped.
A long liability waiver during check in, a non-friendly starter, no signage to first hole, former hoke 10 is now hole 1, bunkers with weeds growing, construction of new houses, no on-course beverage service in July, and mediocre food choices in an otherwise empty restaurant.
Is the new owner of the course making a buck with new houses on the back of the local golfing community?
Almost perfect!
Cart paths are confusing
Hole markers need to be updated….is hole one not hole ten?? You are better than this! Fix the boulders!!
