The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

Great conditions. Great views.
Played 18 yesterday on a cool-ish fall day.
The good: As others have said, some of the scenic views are outstanding. Conditions were generally fantastic. Greens are fast and undulating — poor placement of your approach shot above the hole will, on some greens, make it impossible to hit your putt soft enough to not roll off the front. Great variety of holes. Many large bunker complexes on almost every hole. Every staff member we dealt with (cart park, starter, pro shop, beverage cart) were courteous & friendly. Plenty of COVID precautions set up throughout the clubhouse area.
The not-as-good: Though it’s a very nice track, my playing partner & I both felt it was JUST A HAIR overpriced for the rack rate — look for online or coupon book deals. The putting green is huge and immediately makes you realize that speed and undulations will be a factor BUT we all found the putting green was faster than many of the greens on the course. The bunkers are of course not up to snuff but I don’t consider it a legitimate factor, given the COVID protocols that have to be in place — their bunkers were no worse or better than anyone else’s these days.
Yes there’s some new construction going on (the course is part of a larger development) but it only REALLY grabs you on maybe 2 or 3 holes; otherwise you’re insulated from it. Having played on several courses with incorporated residential developments, both here and in the US, Lora Bay is one of the better examples I’ve seen.
Beautiful, challenging course!
Would have rated it 5 star, but tons of new home construction going on which takes away from overall ambiance!
I booked with golf now for a 4:10 pm t off unfortunately it got dark at around 7:30 so I was unable to complete my round, I feel that golf now should not post these hot deals that cant possibly be reasonably met to complete a full round. Otherwise course was very nice staff friendly and accommodating.
Great course
Loved everything about the course, great golf experience with friendly starter.
Restaurant had great food but disappointing staff interactions. Felt they catered to members with no service to us and when we asked for dressing for our salad (30 minutes after food was served), the server blamed us for not asking for dressing. Bad experience and would not go back.
Incredibly nice course with beautiful views of the water. a few less trees in some locations would improve the view of the water.
Great course - but
Had a great round there. One of the best courses in the Blue Mountain area. Everything was great except for the starter giving about the longest list of special course details I have ever heard . There was no way my wife or I could remember them all what seemed like 20 plus items. Also the group ahead of us consisted of 4 members who were incredibly slow. They knew we were waiting behind them from the first hole. Finally I asked to play through and they refused. Too me it’s no fun having someone waiting behind you on every shot. Fortunately they only played 9 and on the back 9 was much better. Spectacular views of Georgian bay.
Lora Bay
Greens were fast but not in great shape.
Bag staff did not wear masks and did not honour social distancing
Starter did not tell us the pin location and did not make us aware of how to navigate on holes were paths were under construction
fabulous lay out
Fazio/.Lehman design is outstanding. New greens keeper and ideal conditions have this course in the best shape I have seen in the eight years I have played there.
Greens, fairways and tee boxes are the pretty near perfect. Plenty of challenges here ..greens are quick and tricky to read, rough is thick, traps are thin on some holes
Some new housing construction on holes 5-7 going on.
