The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

Lora Bay - absolutely
If you plan to be in the Thornbury area and have your sticks, make a time and go have a ball. This is a very nice course. Playable but it can play tough. This is a high-end public course. It’s not cheap but GolfNow can often help.
Excellent day
Well maintained, challenging course with spectacular views.
won't get your value from this course
While the course is beautiful and quite challenging, I expected more from a course like Lora Bay. No GPS on the carts, which a rare thing for an elite golf course. No course map books to at least let you know how far key points on the fairway were, and where all the bunkers were located. we asked for one, but were told "oh yeah, we used to have those around here somewhere". Bunkers are in awful condition, some like cement, some full of water from rain 3 DAYS BEFORE!
The course marshall was very friendly, though,m as was the waitress in the restaurant. Don't think i will go again, not worth the money. Cobble Beach offers way more for your money
Very sad to see this gem in decline
I’ve been going to Lora Bay every year with a bunch of guys since 2004, but we won’t be going again. We felt violated being charged $155 to play a course in such atrocious shape. The bunkers, which were always a terrific feature of the course, have not been maintained at all over the past few years and now have no sand or edging and are unplayable. The poor condition has completely ruined what was always a favourite course. So sad.
Quality control issues...
I played Lora Bay a few years ago and was very impressed by the course. It's an impeccable design and was in tiptop condition. Carts were outfitted with small coolers which contained ice and complimentary bottled water, and there was a very useful yardage book (essential for golfers not already familiar with the course).
Which brings me to my round last week... for 135$ Lora Bay was not good value this time around. No yardage guide, water (or even a water station), but more disappointing was the condition of many of the tee boxes, which were dry with much dead grass. There seems to be a watering issue as well, as we had to play 4 holes with greenside sprinklers on full tilt (at high noon)... no apology from the course or discount offered.
All in all, still a good course, but for the money there are better deals nearby.
Beautiful scenery, amenities fall short
Lora Bay is a beautiful course and challenging.
For this price, the clubhouse should have a locker room with a shower, there should be a course map of guide as many of the holes are blind, the sand traps are hard and many have little sand.
They can do better! At $75 on Golfnow, it’s ok. At $135, not so much.
Great day just sun was going down to quickly
It was a great day lots of fun its was later afternoon wish I had the day to golf but sun was falling quickly ! But the staff was great !!
Water .. what water ?
One of my favourite tracks in Ontario. BUT tee blocks and some fairways are burned out ! There must be a water rights issue cuz terrible conditions abound. Also, there must be something done about pace of play. When there are groups of players that can’t hit the ball to the fairway cut line from the most forward tee.. SOMEONE has to explain that MAYBE this is too much golf course for your skill level...refund their $ and move on. 6 hours is WAY to long to play a loop here. Frustrating to say the least. Yes, they paid their money... so did we.
Oh... I’ve read some reviews out there about how terrible the bunkers are here... the crushed shell or whatever they have in them is the best and most consistent bunkers you’ll play in Ontario.. LOVE EM..
Beautiful course to play for a twilight round! Conditions were awesome given the time of year and lack of rain! Great job to the maintenance staff!
I will be back soon!
Perfect Day for Golf
The day was perfect and the course as usual was excellent. The only downside were the burnt out portions on some of the fairways. The heat has caught up to the courses and water is needed badly.
Lora Bay is one of our favorites.
Challenging course if you aren’t hitting your approach shots accurately. Everything was in great condition but found the bunkers to be hard and not a lot of sand. Other than when I found myself in a bunker this was a very enjoyable round!
Great Day Played Under Excellent Conditions
The golf course superintendent has done a magnificent job of overcoming wet, cool and overcast conditions to have the course in superb condition.
It was a treat to play.
Lora Bay
Beautiful course. Greens are very large and hilly/ uneven/rolling but consistent speed.
Will not come back
Conditions don’t match the price and ag, beverage cart was no where to be four
The bunkers are in poor condition.
Lora Bay is a great course.
Very nice course
The course was in excellent shape but understandably wet. We had carts but cart path only. So basically walked! Not a big deal but was a little tiring and frustrating to get out to the Ballard find out you have the wrong club!
Would highly recommend this course!
Too windy
The course played long due to wet conditions. Cart path only slowed the pace of play.
Course Deserves to Be Allowed to Dry
Lora Bay is a very nice layout. However, with all the rain we've had a better decision would be to have allowed this course to drain and dry for another week before subjecting it to play. It was great to get out, but courses need to have better judgment in when to open.
