About
Set along the Rio Grande River, this is a scenic course with spectacular views. The front nine was built in 1987, and the back nine followed in 1992. The highlight of the course is what is perhaps the longest water hazard in Texas, the Rio Grande River, which flows along holes 5 through 13 on the left side of the fairway.
Narrow fairways and grass bunkers make the course tough, especially when the wind is howling, as it is tough to hit the small, firm greens. Water is everywhere. No. 14 is the only hole without water. The par 3 17th hole, with its island greens, headlines a series of demanding par 3 holes. The last hole plays 434 yards into the wind and has out-of-bounds on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Harlingen take Hwy. 77 south. When you come to Hwy. 802 turn right, then continue until you reach Hwy 281. Turn right again and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the course

Great value excellent track
I have played this course 4-6 times and just love the staff and then course, we’ll maintain and a very nice track. Number 17 a par 3 is a great signature hole. Very challenging par 3.

River Bend the best golf course in Rio Grande Valley!
I am from Russellton Texas and I enjoy playing this course weekly. Great staff and the scenery is to come and take a look at right along the Rio Grande river.

Very very friendly place. You could tell they were glad you came to play their course. I played as a single and two groups allowed me to play through.

Great course and great layout
This course has a great layout really test your long irons and you shot bending skills. Great if you want something other than open fairway courses. Greens were 10 out of 10 fast and in great shape. Fairways were 7 out of 10, most were in good shape but some were under repair or maintenance and in a rough shape. The course had a par 5 turned into a temp par 3. A nice dogleg left par 4 that had temp tee boxes from reds.

Great course for the money
This course has many scenic views and shots. The green are in fairly good shape as is the fairways. This course is played by many of its local residents and they feel they own the course. I played as a single and teed off behind a group of 5 I know that is illegal 😮 but when one of them asked another player in the group should we let the single player go ahead he said NO, let him wait. Most of them hit two balls and only one hit the fairway 156 yards. I had to skip a hole to get ahead of them. Other than that loved praying there.

Fun course
I have played River Bend many times. We lived on the 6th hole for about 8 months. It’s a fun course and and some what challenging but doesn’t beat you up. A course you don’t get tired of playing. Can’t beat the GolfNow green fee price.

Riverbend is great. The fairways are always nice. The course definitely has the best fairways and greens in Brownsville. I would like to see more water stations since it’s hot out, I know they used to have them but I didn’t see any out this time.

Low expectations, so (sort of) pleasantly surprised
No frills course, but pretty well-maintained greens and fairways. Not a lot to choose from in South Texas so you take what you can get. I found it played long and had tight fairways. No frills means no water to access on the course when it’s hot and not much to purchase in the clubhouse (though what they have is very reasonably priced). For the money I thought it was a good golf experience and would play it again.
