About
Set along the Rio Grande River, this is a scenic course with spectacular views. The front nine was built in 1987, and the back nine followed in 1992. The highlight of the course is what is perhaps the longest water hazard in Texas, the Rio Grande River, which flows along holes 5 through 13 on the left side of the fairway.
Narrow fairways and grass bunkers make the course tough, especially when the wind is howling, as it is tough to hit the small, firm greens. Water is everywhere. No. 14 is the only hole without water. The par 3 17th hole, with its island greens, headlines a series of demanding par 3 holes. The last hole plays 434 yards into the wind and has out-of-bounds on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Harlingen take Hwy. 77 south. When you come to Hwy. 802 turn right, then continue until you reach Hwy 281. Turn right again and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the course

First time playing the course and was very pleasantly surprised. The greens have great character to them and were in very good shape. It has a very interesting lay out and a bit challenging to navigate; but all in all great experience. The staff was also very pleasant and accommodating.

Course in average condition
Have played this course a number of times. The fairways have become very dried out and some of the greens are not good as they have been.

River Bend Golf
Course in great shape! A few greens are wet in front (need to fly the green surface or balls will plug in soft ground) and a bit of poh-ana weed grass in greens that redirects put line! But most of course is a pleasure to play!

South TEXAS Golf
Course conditions were great after a recent heavy rain! Finished round in 3.25 hours as windy conditions never became an issue! Greens in excellent shape. A very pleasant round of golf! Glad to be back in area.! 😊

River Bend Par
For the pace of play to dealing with a couple greens that are bad, this will be one of the best courses from this location to 45 minutes in any direction.
Windy and some dirt spots. But keeping the ball in the fairway leave a very good lie 9/10 times. A few greens on the back are in rough shape from the heat.
But overall this places provides a solid opportunity to get better and enjoy with randoms group ups!

Enjoyable Course
Our group has played this course numerous times in 2022 and again in 2023. It is a reasonable layout and although the conditions were sketchy in January, they continued to improve every week though Feb/Mar. The Proshop staff were friendly and very accommodating and this is one of the best features of this place.

The course on great shape, like any other some little changes for maintenance, but the condition of the 18 holes was excellent.

Good course friendly staff
One of the better courses in the RGV. Good layout and course is in good shape. Very nice people in the clubhouse. Would be five stars but they need a restroom out there and yardage markers are few and far between.

The best golf course in the Brownsville area. Great staff, course is in great shape and you can’t get a better price. I’ll be golfing weekly till we return back to Upper Michigan mid May.

Best golf course in Lower RGV
We played at least twice a week all winter. Tried a few other courses. Riverbend has fast greens in good shape overall, fairways are irrigated and in good shape. Challenging holes including a par 3 island green. Beautiful water holes with wildlife and plants. Adrian is tbe manager of tbe pro shop and is super friendly and accommodating. The staff and local golfers are friendly. Even at full price it is worth golfing here.
