River Bend Resort & Country Club
About
Set along the Rio Grande River, this is a scenic course with spectacular views. The front nine was built in 1987, and the back nine followed in 1992. The highlight of the course is what is perhaps the longest water hazard in Texas, the Rio Grande River, which flows along holes 5 through 13 on the left side of the fairway.
Narrow fairways and grass bunkers make the course tough, especially when the wind is howling, as it is tough to hit the small, firm greens. Water is everywhere. No. 14 is the only hole without water. The par 3 17th hole, with its island greens, headlines a series of demanding par 3 holes. The last hole plays 434 yards into the wind and has out-of-bounds on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Harlingen take Hwy. 77 south. When you come to Hwy. 802 turn right, then continue until you reach Hwy 281. Turn right again and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the course

River Bend
The fairways were in good shape and the greens were slow but in very good shape. The layout had a lot of dog legs it made you think about your shot. We got done with the round in 2 hours and 40 minutes
One of the better courses in the Rio Grande Valley
Friendly staff fun layout and a good value. In pretty decent shape considering the weather lately. Would definitely recommend playing this course. Short but challenging.
Staff
I have been playing riverbend for 20 some years now. I’ve seen the change in owenership and seen how well it is now be taken care of. With that being said, in particular Mr. Adrian was at the front counter the day of my play. I have never felt more disrespected uncared for my someone. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt this way. I finally draw the line. He’s constantly so rude and arrogant. I hope this can be resolved because whenever I show up and I see he’s there. Makes me not want to play there. Other than that course isn’t too bad. I think the Marshall can do a better job making sure there isn’t group of 4 or more. I ran into a 7 some and a couple 5 soms. That just slowed everything down. I know riverbend has come a long way and it’s doing well.
