Great challenging golf course
I love it, great layout, not tough but still challenging. You just have to avoid the fescues along the fairway as you're not allowed to even look for your ball and the marshalls are strict about it.
Grey silo
Great course greens were punched so putting was a little challenging but will definitely going back
Aerated greens with no pre-warning
We booked this time and then arrived to find that the greens had been aerated with a fairly large tyne and no top-dressing. Putting was basically random luck. I like this course (not the first time I played it), but courses really should warn players if the course is going to be in this condition. There was actually a fairly high profile junior tournament there that weekend.
Stuck behind junior tournament
We were the 3rd group of green fee play after a junior tournament. Pace of.play was slow.
VERY DISSATISFIED Aerated Greens Displeasure!!
I booked this course a week ahead and drove 1.5 hours to get there and brought 5 other people with me. We play this course once a year and go there for the difficulty and the great condition of the course. Unfortunately everyone was very dissatisfied as the course had just aerated every green. Golfnow usually indicates that the greens are aerated on the website listing, but not this time.
greens maintenance not reported
Greens had just been air rated. Should have been warned about this on website. Kind of ruined the round
Love the lay out!
I will play this course again and the value was great.
Waterloo Golf
Not a walking course, lot of distance between greens, especially from 17 to 18
Staff very friendly, starter gave us some tips
All greens are high because of flood plane, ball will NOT roll onto green
Sand traps are fair, but some huge lips
Lots of environment hazards ,usually on left side of fairway
Fun course to play, 4 to 4 1/4 hours to play
Nice course. Good value at twilight
The course is in good shape. Lots of divots on the fairways but the grass is great. Watch out for the deep bunkers. Can play slow if someone gets off course into the bunkers. Must think hard about tee selection as I blasted some drives too far into the fescue.
Nice course.
Nice course with wide fairways and large greens. Well maintained and scenic. The day I played there was no wind and it was a straight up round. A little bit of wind would really influence difficulty at this course given how open it is. Overall worth the drive from Toronto. I would play it again.
Worth the drive to K-W area
Grey Silo is definitely worth the drive out to the K-W area from the GTA. I forgot just how good this course is (played there over 10 years ago). Would return any time!
Beauty in the valley
Great place to go and play. The layout is a challenge if you stray from the fairway. Hard to keep focused on the game when you look around at the views of grand river valley. A must play for anyone. The back tees will challenge the longest hitter, while forward tees make bringing the kids out a lot of fun. The greens are true, and the staff do a great job keeping the course tip top.
Nice but...
Course was generally in good condition although the greens were disappointing; fluffy, did not appear recently cut, very slow and did not hold line, tons of ball marks which is not the fault of the course but disrespectful golfers, come on people repair your ball marks!!
Great Course
This is the premier public golf course in Kitchener/Waterloo. Well maintained, and well organized pace of play.
The only problem was hackers slowing down play. This course is not for beginners or those just starting to play. This is a challenging course.
Well maintained course, fun to play but challenging at the same time!
Beautifully maintained course. Very picturesque and worth playing. But not easy for those who spray their tee shot or hit short. Many tee shots are over "junk" that you can't wade into to find your ball.
Definitely not a course to walk. Pay the extra to ride. Your feet will thank you.
I would say this course is worth play again. I can't wait to play it again in a few weeks.
NICE COURSE-BETTER VALUE ELSEWHERE
Nice course. No complaints. Would only play on a golfnow deal. This course, while 18 holes, is no better than 9 holes Calerin, and it's a lot more money. Better value at Hunter's Pointe in Niagara as well.
Will be in great condition soon
Usually in excellent condition, however, greens were scraped in the morning and were slow and a bit bumpy. Will be in great shape soon.
Nice Golf Outing in the Meadows of Grey Silo
Nice open course with large well place bunkers to add challenge wherever there are large greens. The cart girl visited often which was great on a hot day! Greens were great after a few days of rain. Practice range is kind of uphill so do not get discouraged if you feel your shots don't travel as far…
greens arent good yet
If you can find a great deal on golf now then I would say its worth the trip . If not , run like the wind away from the $100 plus green fees . This course simply isn't worth it .
