Always in Great Shape
Challenging, but fair course. Smooth greens. Will play again.
Very Nice Course
This is an upper tier course with very nice fairways and greens. It is a step up from most places for sure.
My only quibble that cannot be fixed, is that its layout is such that the 1st tee and 18th hole are a fair distance from the clubhouse, and the distance between 1 and 2, and 17 and 18 is large too. These aspects make it feel like a 22 hole course for a walker, which I was. If you are carting, this would not bother you.
Perfect fall golf
The pro shop advised of flood damage to a few fairway areas but carts were allowed out on scatter pattern. These GUR areas were mostly not in the line of play. One par 4 that normally is quite challenging was shortened to a par 3. The fairways and greens were in great shape. Leaves had been blown clear of fairways. We will come back again in the spring.
Golf now
We booked through Golf Now with no warning that there were only 9 holes playable with construction taking place. Clearly the coarse would have known of this closure since large earth moving equipment was on site and working. Is there no mechanism in place for the facility to inform Golf Now of closures so that they don't falsely advertise??
wish we had known
I have played this course before and always highly rated. Drove from Toronto on a beautiful late fall day only to be disappointed when we arrived at the course.
We were informed that only 9 holes were open on the 18 hole layout. So we played # 1 and then 10 to 17 (course layout) .
We replayed the same holes but after a wait of 30 minutes to play the same 9 again (pace of play).
I would definitely play this course again but, It would be nice to receive advance notification about such situations either from the golf course or golfnow. Fix this for the future.
Good Deal for a Really Nice Course
This is a nice layout, although too much walking between holes. Course is in great shape. It was a little slow, but not sure why. Marshall was out. Got a good deal to play. Judy at the starter shed was great and dealt with a late group very well. Would recommend the course highly.
Greens on Rough Shape
I had very high expectations of this course, since it recently hosted an LPGA event- but I was very disappointed with the condition of the greens- they were cut very long and slow and inconsistent
First time at Grey Silo
The course was in really good condition and the pin placements were tricky.
Too slow
We love this course but the last 4 times we have golfed it the pace has been way too slow. I still recommend the course
Great
What can you say when the people , place and condition were perfect. I recommend every body give this course a try you will not regret it.
Disappointing greens
Got pretty excited on the putting green at the speed of the green, but so disappointed with the speed on the course. At least 2 slower on the Stimpmeter, baffling me into 3 x 3 putts on the front nine.
A good challenge
Not too often I play here because it can be expensive but we got a good deal with golf now. This is a good course for intermediate to good golfers, I would not recommend it for beginners.
Ok but not great
Played with two regulars. First time for us. Very windy and it swirl so much it seemed the wind was in our face 16 of the 18 holes. Condition was ok. It was evident the course had lots of play. Many divots ( they need divot mix on the carts) and the greens were full of ball marks. Even after mentioning it, the one guy we played with missed fixing a couple of ball marks.
The course is short. It seemed like a lot of the holes looked the same. Thought it was a bit overpriced. Staff was nice and welcoming. I guess if I lived in the area I would play it again but I don't and I won't make the drive to play it again.
Must play!
We really enjoyed this course. Great condition layout is nice. Just a fun round of golf. The greens are slower than the practice green so be aware of that lol Staff was fantastic and one of the members joined us and helped us a great deal with how to play around the course for the first time. Will be playing here again next year!!
Nice track but busy
Grey silo is a well designed challenging but not boring golf course. Not really for beginners. Long walk from first green to second tee. Greens in good shape. Lack of Marshall moving slow players. You get what you pay for.
Fun in the sun
Wonderful day for golf. Course had one hole still affected by the flooding. Golf cart broke down on the forth hole. Tee blocks a little furry. None of that could bother us on a beautiful day in a wonderful track.
