About
Alsatian GC is an 18-hole with water in play. Front side fairly open and flat, almost links type play. Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Back side is hilly and has lots of trees. Super finishing hole with a tree in center of uphill fairway.
Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.
Lodging: The Alsatian Inn is located approximately two miles from the club. A very nice facility, it has ninety rooms, a swimming pool, and a really good restaurant. Children under the age of fourteen stay free.
Distance: About 30 minutes from downtown on Highway
90 West to Castroville. But worth the trip.... Take Highway 90 West through Castroville; turn right at the blinking light just past the Alsatian Inn; veer left on CR 4516. Course is 2.5 miles down on the right.

My only complaint is that the greens were too slow
Thank you for the good review. Yes our greens a little slow because we over-seeded with Bent on October 5th. We have mowed them sparingly since then in order for the seed to germinate. They are beautiful and well be their slick selves by next week. Please come back!!!
Nice late afternoon round
Played Saturday at 2:30 and took 3.5 hours to play 18.

Dried up
Need to work on the overall condition of the course. The greens are ok at best but the rest of the course is full of weeds and st Augustine grass.

We usually get rave reviews on our greens. Some of the best in South Texas! The San Augustine is a problem because of the home owners. San Augustine spreads and can take over Bermuda. The weeds are seasonal and are sprayed when the time is right. We have a very extensive spraying program We put a lot of money in weed control every year. As far as being dried up, we under Stage 1 water restrictions and getting ready for Stage 2. There is only so much water we can use, legally. I'm sorry you feel the course did not meet your expectations.
Never fails ...just a good course!
This a very chill and relaxing course! I've played here 6+ times and each time has been fun and challenging for a decent golfer. Play here or don't but youll be missing out.

Friday afternoon golf
This is a very nice course ! Fairways were in great shape, greens were good, and tee boxes were in good condition!! Overall we were very pleased with this course ! We decided to grab a bite after our round and WOW !!! The restaurant is incredible. The menu was full of choices and the food was exceptional !! Prices seemed a little bit high, UNTIL our meals arrived then prices were very fair. Overall this was a great experience and we will return with friends.
Course is in excellent shape. Would help the pace of play more if there was a Marshall touring. Today there wasn't one. The staff are always friendly. I recommend this course because it seems to be always well maintained. JULIANNA'S restaurant serves the best food in the area IMHO-
Thank you for the great review. However we did have a Marshall and starter all day. Sorry you had slow play. In the future , call the pro shop and we will direct the Marshall to you.

It was a hot this past Sunday but Alsatian always has cold waters available free of charge!! These guys are too Cool! Course is always in great shape and food is always top notch!!
Alsatian Golf course
As good as any course in SA, great fairways and greens, best for the value, it is some distance away, but worth it.
