Alsatian Golf Club
About
Alsatian GC is an 18-hole with water in play. Front side fairly open and flat, almost links type play. Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Back side is hilly and has lots of trees. Super finishing hole with a tree in center of uphill fairway.
Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.
Lodging: The Alsatian Inn is located approximately two miles from the club. A very nice facility, it has ninety rooms, a swimming pool, and a really good restaurant. Children under the age of fourteen stay free.
Distance: About 30 minutes from downtown on Highway
90 West to Castroville. But worth the trip.... Take Highway 90 West through Castroville; turn right at the blinking light just past the Alsatian Inn; veer left on CR 4516. Course is 2.5 miles down on the right.

Winter Golf
For the time year, the course and greens were in good condition. As spring arrives the fairways should improve.
The lack of a course marshal kept pace of play slow as other players playing two and three balls each failed to allow those of us playing quicker to play through.
review
The course was in good shape despite the hard winter we had this year.
Good value and friendly staff
I have played this course 5-6 times and have always had a great experience. The greens were a little fast this last time, but for the time of year it was in good shape.
Great course
Fun course. Some challenging holes. Can't just grip it & rip it. Need to be able to place some shots strategically. Will be back

Great changes on front 9, the changes on #2 with the green is great
Nice for a public course
I play Alsation fairly often for two reasons...it is close and it is inexpensive. The course is wide open and short. It is fun to play because there is a driveable par 4 and the par 5s are mostly reachable. It is a good place to work on your game. If you drive the ball well, you will have nothing but short irons to the greens. You can actually score well by simply driving the ball well. The greens are typically fast which I like. Some of the negatives: because it's a public course in a rural area, it has its locals who play in fivesomes or even sixsomes, which of course means a slow round. If you play here, be patient! Another oddity...the clubhouse is after the 10 green not 9. Not really a problem, just strange. I chose to recommend this course but it really depends on what you want. If you want short and fun, this is it. If you want a challenge, play somewhere else.
Nice course...
Challenging opening holes. Watch out for #2! Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in good shape for the money. It's a good walking course if you're looking for some exercise but do have some energy snacks and hydration available from the grill.
Truly Enjoyable
I'm from Texas but have been living in San Francisco for the past 7 years. It's also where I picked up the sport almost 2 years ago. I chose this course because of the price and it's proximity to my hotel. It's the first I've played in Texas and I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly! The holes were fun, well placed, and each had their share of that good old "risk versus reward" type feel to them. I'd also have to say I couldn't have picked a better day for my introduction to Texas golf. It was cold and much windier than the conditions I'm used to playing so needless to say, I lost a few balls starting out. However, once I got accustomed to the conditions I really enjoyed my round there.
Great value easy course.
This course is well maintained and easy to play. I took my family and had 2 non-golfers. We were able to keep a good pace by scrambling and everyone had fun. The course has an island green feature on the second hole. There are 2 short par 4s and 2 reachable par 5s for me. It is a fun course to play.
Kinda plain
Course is wide open and flat, just not very interesting. Was in overall good shape with quick greens but like I said, not real interesting.
Course was great, will play again.
The staff was super nice. The course was well maintained. The rate of play was excellent and the course marshal was very attentive. The weather was great and I enjoyed the course very much . I would recommend the course to anyone.
great course for the money
the course was beautiful from tee box to green on every hole and was fun. there was a hand full of holes that were challenging since they had water around them. all the greens were soft and the balls check up nicely, fast greens made putting easy
Very Nice back nine holes!
We made a tee time online (saved a lot of money) less than 24 hrs in advance ($35 per player incl. cart and taxes). Fall weather meant the end of the growing season so that was taken into consideration. The front was straight and flat and not very interesting, but the back was much more so, and was in very nice condition for late October. We played in under 3 1/2 hrs - with others on the course. Nearby Castroville is filled with nice dining options so this is a good overall stop.
One negative note to mention: the web listing indicated that rental clubs were included in the green fees and one of our group needed to rent clubs. The 'rental clubs' were 2 old bags filled with unmatched and incomplete sets of clubs that were 20-30 yrs old, and had no true driver or putter. Don't rely on the course for rental clubs - otherwise, enjoy!
Great golfing experience...loved it
Course is in very good shape and folks are very nice.
This course is great and they are adding more features to it as well.
Even though it had rained a little over an inch so it was car path only. There really wasn't any standing water in the fairways or greens as the ground soaked al the rain well. So the bottom It really It was in perfect playing conditions. The greens are well kept and there are several holes that are challenging so I give it a thumbs up...

Very friendly staffs. Good course condition.
When arrived, the first thing one would noticed is the friendly atmosphere. We went on a day a tournament is ongoing before my tee time. The proshop staff let me know immediately upon arrival. We were able to tee off few minutes early and never met any stoppage. Course is well kept and the layout is fairly easy and fun to play.
An enjoyable round.
Great value for your money using the Golf Now discount. The course was is good shape & the pace of play was just right. Staff was very friendly. Facilities are very nice ... driving range, dining area & outside patio. Just a short drive from San Antonio. Will definately go back.
Very challenging
Very will maintain lots problem holes have to be on your game
Great course and great greens
The course was we'll keep up with some Construction but did not interfere with course fairways and greens in great condition will play here again
like we had our own course!
Course is in good shape. During the week you're on your own course. Worth the drive from San Antonio!
