Alsatian Golf Club
About
Alsatian GC is an 18-hole with water in play. Front side fairly open and flat, almost links type play. Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Back side is hilly and has lots of trees. Super finishing hole with a tree in center of uphill fairway.
Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.
Lodging: The Alsatian Inn is located approximately two miles from the club. A very nice facility, it has ninety rooms, a swimming pool, and a really good restaurant. Children under the age of fourteen stay free.
Distance: About 30 minutes from downtown on Highway
90 West to Castroville. But worth the trip.... Take Highway 90 West through Castroville; turn right at the blinking light just past the Alsatian Inn; veer left on CR 4516. Course is 2.5 miles down on the right.

A Fun Course for the Average Golfer
Played on Father's Day 2013 in the afternoon. The San Antonio area has been getting a lot of rain recently which probably contributed to the good condition of the course. Greens were slow but consistent and overall the course is well maintained. Played behind a group in a tournament that must have been called the "Worst Golfers in the World who are Also Obsessed with Lost Balls but Unaware of the Concept of Pace of Play Invitational." So it was a little slow.
The pro shop and club house have been recently renovated and create a relaxing ambiance. Food was good and there was cart service on the course.
Nice esp for Seniors - not a lot of length required
Course in very good shape. Well suited for seniors and short hitters. Relatively short from the middle tees.
Course very short, even from back tees
Nice course to work on Irons, do not need driver, greens were coming back
greens in great shape
Living in Texas had made it tough to find good payable greens. Alsatian has the best greens in the area for the price. The fairways are in decent shape and you don't have to worry about losing a ball in them. They have a friendly staff and are eager to help with anything. Great overall experience.
Appeared greens were aerated 2 or 3 weeks ago. Still pretty rough.
Greens were disappointing this trip. They appeared to have been aerated 2 or 3 weeks ago. Still pretty bumpy. No. 2 green was especially in poor condition.
Course was well maintain and the pace was just right.
The marshall was excellent in pacing the parties to ensure no one felt rushed. At no point during the 18 holes were we waiting for another set of golfers to finish. The course itself was in excellent condition, from the tees, thru the fairways to the greens.
The course is in decent shape considering the drought conditions.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, carts are kept in excellent condition. The snack bar has a rather limited menu and only sells beer and wine.
Hole #2 was closed due to maintainance. The sign indicates $2.00 off but since we paid via GolfNow, we did not get it.
The course was maintained pretty good, enjoyed the course.
Enjoyed playing this country course.
Great layout with some challenging shots. Greens coould be protected a little better.
Poor shape
Visiting Texas not too impressed with course- it might be better in the later months- hard fairways and greens. Lack of grass on both most times you place ball in fairway it ends up in a patch of dirt. cannot land the greens no true roll on putting the ball tracks with the lack of grass on the green. Wast of time could not wait to finish.
Course in great condition and the club has invested a lot of more time and money to make it a great place
We always enjoy playing the beautiful course. The employees are very, very nice, especially JESSE. We always enjoy the 19th hole, It's a great place to have a snack or beer in the beautiful patio. No doubt this is our favorite course to play. Thanks Alsatian.
Excellent course to work on game and iron play
Course was wet due to some fertilization and greens stamped, bunkerfs hard but could of been due to watering earlier, fairways/greens were green and greens were maintained of divots . NIcely kept and would recommend to play
A Hidden Jewel
We played 4 days straight in March 2013 and the grass was short and dry, but it was still fun and beautiful. The food is good and the staff are very friendly.
Ni ce Course to enjoy play.
We had tee time but there was a group of 12 players in front of us.
Then we had to start on the back nine. The we start at our time reserved.
Worth the drive from San Antonio
Alsatian probably gives golfers the best value in the San Antonio area. I've played every course in the area, and this is the only course that I choose to play anymore.
had a good time
course was in good shape and pace was good.It was on the easy side but did offer some good challenges. It was a fun day.
Nice course.
They had just aerated and sanded the greens less than a week ago. Overall it was in good shape. Wide open for the occasional loose shot. Got a great deal on golfnow.
Good Condition
This course is in good condition, they had just fertilized the greens and aerated the fairways, so they are moving in the right direction, good value for the money, the young man at the pro shop though has no personality. He could use some people skills. The course is nice should be great in the summer.
Course in excellent shape for this time of year
Par 5 holes are very easy but there are very challenging par 4 holes. The greens were fast and in good shape for early March with recent drought conditions.
Lots of fun.
The staff in the pro shop was very friendly, joked around with us and talked us into buying stuff. Staff at hole one was very friendly too. Great community out there. The course was fun to play too. We had to wait for the group in front of us a little, but wasn't a bother.
