Alsatian Golf Club
About
Alsatian GC is an 18-hole with water in play. Front side fairly open and flat, almost links type play. Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Back side is hilly and has lots of trees. Super finishing hole with a tree in center of uphill fairway.
Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.
Lodging: The Alsatian Inn is located approximately two miles from the club. A very nice facility, it has ninety rooms, a swimming pool, and a really good restaurant. Children under the age of fourteen stay free.
Distance: About 30 minutes from downtown on Highway
90 West to Castroville. But worth the trip.... Take Highway 90 West through Castroville; turn right at the blinking light just past the Alsatian Inn; veer left on CR 4516. Course is 2.5 miles down on the right.

Lot of water
Short course but as challenging as any I've played.
A fun course to play
This was our first time using Golfnow to book a tee time...it worked very well, we got a good rate at Alsatian, took our out of state guests to play, it was a great day at Alsatian.
I've always liked the course especially after the change to hole 2.
Course was in good shape for the most part except for number 10 green. The clubhouse and snack bar are exceptional and the parking lot has been upgraded. Driving range and putting green are in good shape and convenient. Playing the course again tomorrow.
Golfer friendly - Great greens- Great rate
Pace of play was good. The course layout was golfer friendly for the weekly golfer. The greens rolled true and fast. Thoroughly enjoyed my time as did the other three players. Great rate!
Good for a winter outing, scenery was nice course was in good shape for any time of yr!
Windy day on course PRice was right for conditions (got Great Discount from Golf Now. Com) Club house staff very Ho Hum didn't chit chat or seem friendly. No Course etiquette given for new or returning players. ie. Ball hit OB you cannot retrieve even if you can get to it...Awful not too mention this rule or policy!!! The Club House Grill personnel very friendly and super hospitable. No Marshalls but the course was well marked ...Over all I will go again to give a summer chance at friendliness.
Absolutely great course!
Immaculate greens and tee boxes! Fairways were a little hard but still great. Staff was very nice and friendly. I'll definitely be going back in the near future.
High Quality Course at a Great Value...A Must Play!
If I were asked to summarize Alsatian I'd say, "Without a doubt, it's one of the best courses in the area." Although every golfer seeks different layouts, amenities, location, etc., most place a high premium on the following: quality (course conditions), pace of play, price (value), and customer service (overall experience). Alsatian provides them all. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are usually well-maintained. However, I do recommend that more attention be given to the areas around the cup. Some, not all, were too frayed and perhaps influenced quite a few putts. But, they rolled pretty true otherwise. Second, the pace of play is unbelieveable compared to others. A weekday round can be played in 2 1/2 to 3 hours, while a weekend outing may take 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Third, the "Bang for the Buck" value surpasses comparable, and even some higher-end semi-private or private, courses. Alsatian is only a stone's throw away in the quaint, historic town of Castroville, TX (about a 15 to 30 minute drive from San Antonio) on Hwy. 90 West. It's in great shape (overall), provides both challange and ample scoring opportunities, and can be played for approx. $20-35. In my book, that's getting the most for my money. Lastly, the customer service is on point. I really appreceiate the warm greetings I've experienced upon check-in and at the grill. If a problem or need arises, just let the staff know. Book a round and see for yourself. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the course as much as I do!
Really like playing here.
Only complaint would be the position of the ladies tee box on #6. It's far too close. The beauty of this hole is the challenge of hitting over the water. The current tee box placement doesn't allow for this.
People, course, carts, Pro shop, & grill -- all wonderful!
We had a really great time and greatly enjoyed the course.
Beautiful scenery and well kept course!
This course will have you craving another visit. Great fairways, very nice greens and challenging par 3's.
great little course and good facilities
only problem is the inability to reserve a tee time for a single player from on line requests. course is very good and staff excellent
