Alsatian Golf Club
About
Alsatian GC is an 18-hole with water in play. Front side fairly open and flat, almost links type play. Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Back side is hilly and has lots of trees. Super finishing hole with a tree in center of uphill fairway.
Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.
Lodging: The Alsatian Inn is located approximately two miles from the club. A very nice facility, it has ninety rooms, a swimming pool, and a really good restaurant. Children under the age of fourteen stay free.
Distance: About 30 minutes from downtown on Highway
90 West to Castroville. But worth the trip.... Take Highway 90 West through Castroville; turn right at the blinking light just past the Alsatian Inn; veer left on CR 4516. Course is 2.5 miles down on the right.

Nice confidence builder course.
Fun course to play. Rain stayed away just long enough.
Nice course. My only complaint is the poor condition of most of the bunkers.

Fantastic course
My tee time was at 10am. Conditions of course are fantastic. The course has many holes with water in play which makes it challenging.
I played alone and it took 2hrs and 30mins.
This course is beautiful, but not the most challenging in the San Antonio area.
I was happy with my green fee ($11), I would not pay more than $20 for this course though (personally).
Beautiful course
The course was in the best shape we have ever seen it....Beautiful.
Great condition
Course was in great shape. Little disappointed. There was no Marshall and large groups were playing fairly slow . Overall had a great time .
The golf course is in great shape.
The staff was very friendly and the food is great. Best hamburger I have ever eaten. I was very impressed with the Alsatian. Best kept secret in the Hill Country.
I love to play this course!
I have played it many times. This course holds a special place for me because of memories I have of playing with friends that have since past. I hope to enjoy many more rounds at this course!
Ball rolled well
for just finishing airing out the greens they were in very good condition. The course is not extremely difficult, but it will make you pay if you are struggling with your driver as I was yesterday. Overall very good course to play for the average golfer.
Nice course with great amenities!
First time at Alsatian. Had a wonderful experience both in the great customer service, amenities (pro shop, snack bar, driving range and chip/putt greens) and pace of play.
Although only moderately challenging for me, I plan on bringing my wife next time as the open fairways would be appreciated by someone her skill level.
Look forward to my return!
This course has a challenging island green on #2.
The greens were still bumpy from having been punched the previous Monday. Due to the drought, the fairways were sparse, and more brown than green. It's a short course, but the tee shot from the tips is challenging on hole #13, and to a lessor degree on hole #4, if you want to have a prayer of reaching the green in 2 on the 538 yard hole, which is protected by a bunker in front. That #2 hole is a real challenge, as you will be hitting a blind shot to that island green unless you are long enough on the tee shot or far enough right of center to have a view of the green around the high mound that obstructs the view. There is a bailout area behind the green before you reach the water, but if you miss the green on the right, only the Traveler's commercial dog is going to save your ball from a watery grave. On hole 11, you'll want to stay left of center with your tee shot when it stops rolling, or else you'll be dealing with getting past the huge live oaks on the right side of the fairway, which slopes to the right. The other holes are pretty straight forward. All in all, I had a great time, and would not hesitate to play there again. The staff was super friendly.
Fun course
Course was in great shape considering the minimal amount of rain that we've had in San Antonio. Open layout with some OB around the houses other than that it is pretty wide open.
Fun Course
Course was fun. Staff was friendly. We were beginners and had to let a couple foursomes play through.
Fun course with a rude staff
Considering the amount of 100+ degree days, the course was is great shape with only two greens with any sign of distress.
Clubhouse didn't open until 7:15 instead of 6:30 and made us late for our 7:00 tee time. Didn't receive any apologies and was made to feel guilty for not waiting to pay prior to starting our round. Worse overall golf experience I have ever encountered.
Great Course
You don't walk a way sressed. The course is well kept and you can not beat the price.
Great Day
Course was in great shape. Best Hamburgers in the world. Ice ready for all the carts ice boxes.
Great course
Great layout and good game play....maintained difficulty throughout entire 18 holes
Nice course!
Staff was super friendly! Course was in good shape and they seem to take care of it. Nice houses on some of the fairways. I would give it a shot.
This Course Rocks!! Has something for every type of golfer
Went to play at the Alsatian after a friend had recommended it to me. The first thing I noticed was how friendly the staff inside/grill are. The main guy in the pro shop was training another really young guy. They were both friendly and hope to see them again. All the holes were in good shape as the greens were rolling fast and true. Hole number 6 was my favorite hole as it is played off as a deceivingly easy par 3. However that is not the case if you go ten feet in either direction away from the green. The golf carts themselves were in pristine conditions as compared to other courses i have recently played ( Brack, Olmos, and GCT). The food was typical golf course food but i wasn't expecting anything fancy. However I would tell anyone who does choose to eat there to go on Wednesday because they have enchiladas every Wednesday they told me, and those were really good. All in all if you are looking for a moderate course with a friendly staff , and good prices this is definitely the place to come. I will be making more frequent visits to the Alsatian.
I've always liked playing at this course and I was not disappointed this time either..
I would have rated the course higher, but they are making improvements/changes to part of the course and they are not yet finished.
