Great Value Course - but pace can be an issue
Stonebridge is a great value course and I would recommend as a cheaper option. .
Unfortunately, the first tee box today had a terrible bottleneck that formed at 7:30am. We had a 15 minute delay to tee off and there was a wait at every hole because of it. I understand the difficulty of monitoring the course with a small staff, but at least assign one marshal at #1 who is checking times and holding people accountable. No reason we should wait that long at the first tee, especially early in the morning before the day has even started.
I always enjoy this course. Well kept, clean and always refreshing.
Will play it again
Came up from Sugar Land to play course. Drive up was about an hour. Very nice day. Breeze, shade great pluses. The greens vary in condition with some with a bit of foreign grass bumps. Overall greens certainly ok. The layout is favorable with most greens accessible though traps guard and the 18th is a real challenge with water hazard and island green. Having said that it was my personal best hole. The course is inside a development with the usual house next to fairway for a significant number of holes. However there enough trees only holes to satisfy. Fairways were a little scant through out so they must not have gotten all the rain Sugar Land got. Definitively worth the trip.
Good if your local.
Staff wasn't all that great, seen the drink cart at the clubhouse but not once seen the cart on the course. The guy mowing ran over my ball and shredded it, club house response "well he doesn't speak good English and has bad eyesight" ???? Bad eyesight ??? He didn't stop when we were hitting either, is it that bad he couldn't see us as well? Scary they let him on a commercial riding mower, just watch yourself if you go play here, may be your last game of golf ever.
Stonebridge 8-11-20
Everything in pretty good shape. Greens were the exception... For greens that had been renovated within the last year, they just were not in very good shape. Rest of the course was decent, and people were very friendly. Despite the condition of the greens, I would gladly play there again.
Great Improvement!
You can tell the course and maintenance team has been working hard to improve the course. Greens are in great shape! Keep up the great work!
Had a good time.
It was nice to get back on a course I’ve been familiar with. Very relaxing and was a nice 4th of July day.
Never again! Completely out of control!
I said in my previous review that I probably wouldn't come back. But the rest of my group talked me into it. Now they're with me - we're never going back. First, we had to wait for 2 little girls hitting tennis balls to their dog in the middle of the #2 fairway. One of our guys had to drive down and ask them to get out of the way, while their mother yelled at him for asking them to get off the golf course. Then for the second time, we couldn't finish our round because the same fishermen (kids) as before were blocking the approach to the #18 green again. We got the same smart aleck remarks and same finger as last time. We started to try to hit over them but were afraid that we might hurt them. But we won't have to worry about that any more because none of us will ever be back.
And by the way - now the greens are infested with weeds and are getting bumpy. The joy at Stonebridge never ends! Except that it has for us!!
Course is fair, but out of control
The only reason this course gets any stars al all is that the greens are improving. The sand traps have been pretty good for several years. But the fairways are thin and sparse in a lot of areas and most of the tee boxes are rock hard and mostly dirt. The 150 yd marker posts were recently moved, which would be good except they are all off, some by 10-12 yards and all by at least 4 yards. Hitting the wrong club doesn't help pace of play, which is already way too slow. Nice try, extremely poor execution. The fairway marker plates are more accurate, but most are completely grown over. And to the point of out-of-control, its obvious that they don't have marshals. People drive over tee boxes, park almost on top of tee boxes, and park on the edges of greens. Besides that, you almost always see bike riders, strollers, dog walkers, scooters, joy riders, etc. on the cart paths. And the topper -- a couple of days ago I couldn't finish my round because fishermen were blocking the approach to #18 (not the first time that has happened for sure). I yelled at them - no acknowledgement. I went down and asked them to move. Only got smart aleck remarks and the finger. I have tried to give this course the benefit of the doubt but I'm probably not coming back.

Good course to play
Greens, fairways & bunkers were in good condition. Cart paths need repair & an active Marshal would be nice to see since play pace was very slow.
Course closed
Evidently the course never contacted Golfnow and on every other Monday the course is closed until 1030. I have a 0809 tee time. So I drive 30 minutes away and have to wait 2 1/2 hours and maybe get on the course. Unacceptable!
