Difficult Course, but fun!
Only complaint is no cart service besides that awesome course to play beautiful fairways and fast greens!
Great but Tough
Great course but tough, that rough in front of you at tee off on most holes will def lose you some balls but overall a fun great maintained course. Would love to play it again soon.
Hidden gem
Great course lots of forced carries over natural hazards
Beautiful layout
A
Must play if your in the area
great hidden treasure
Super friendly staff, course in great condition, nice greens, It will challenge the average golfer.
I played this course twice this week while vacationing from Illinois. St. James Bay is a terrific, challenging course. Very scenic and lush but demanding. There must be a waste area or other hazard to clear on every hole! They removed the built-in GPS from the carts, which makes determining distances quite difficult. I left my driver in the bag and hit a 3-hybrid off most of the tees. Bring a lot of balls if you're not exactly the straightest of hitters. Very little break to the greens. I will play this course every time I'm in the area.
Bring lots of balls
You better bring lots of balls with you. Perfect drives in middle of fairway will be in swamp grass that runs the middle of fairway. No way of knowing swamp is there without knowing the course
This is a great course!
St James Bay is a beautiful layout that is challenging but very very fair! Must play if you're in the area!
Great track
First time playing this track and it was as difficult of a course that I’ve ever played. Plenty of hazards though so bring plenty of balls. Great layout altogether though, ripped 3 iron off the tee pretty much all day and still had great numbers in to score.
Lost Balls
Second time playing this course with my son-in-law. Every hole seems to have swampland to hit across. We play from the senior tees and seem to lose a lot of balls, very tough course. Greens seem to be in good condition because of all the rain we’ve had recently. Guess I’ll play it again but only course near where were staying on St. George Island.
Deteriorating
This used to be a fairly decent course. Unfortunately, over the last year or two, the course has been poorly managed - both from a maintenance perspective as well as the from office. The course conditions are poor and getting worse. The pace of play is slow and uncontrolled. There is no longer GPS on the carts (now need to use an app on your phone - a must) or ice and water at the start.
Great Course...and Challenging
St. James Bay is a beautiful, well-maintained course with all the amenities. The staff are very friendly. Bring a lot of balls, though. The course has hazards to negotiate on every hole. For me, there are a couple of hazards which are impossible to get over. Nonetheless, I would play this course every day if I could.
Beautiful Interesting Golf
The course is part of a bird sanctuary, so the wildlife and plant life around the course is beautiful. It’s a tricky little course; very short, you can play irons of the tee most of the day. Very interesting layout. Staff 8/ the friendliest you will ever meet. The prices in the pro shop for apparel are amazing - I bought two shirts they were such a good deal. Also the grill had a Kentucky Derby party going on with a $10 lunch plate. All in all it was a great day
Hard
This course was the hardest course I have ever played. I am not that good to be fair.
fun course
course was fun. can’t use a driver on many holes because of hazards which was different than most places. also it rained all monday and we teed of first thing tuesday morning. course drained well and hardly any wet spots.
Not great for beginners.
We were staying on St. George Island for a few days and had brought our clubs with the expectation of playing some golf. We didn't have a little hiccup with the green fees. Their website said it was $40 at 1pm, but they told us that rate wasn't until 2pm. I showed them on my phone and they honored the price. Thank you.
The course is very challenging for beginner or less skilled players like me. You have to hit over a large area of thicket on almost every tee. Bring lots of golf balls. Not sure if I'd risk venturing too far into the bushes to look for lost balls as it's Florida and there's probably something that will eat you in there.
Overall I had an enjoyable round.
Great Course
This is a very challenging course for a double bogey golfer but that's one of the reasons I like it so much. Beautiful scenery. Very well maintained course despite the heavy rains we've been having lately. Will definitely return soon.
Course is in great shape.
We play this course every year when we stay at St George Island. The course was the most crowded we have seen. The Marshall did an excellent job spacing us in the mid morning so that we had a wonderful experience.
The course is in great shape. We highly recommend you play this course.
