Salish Cliffs Golf Club
About
Salish Cliffs Golf Club, part of the Little Creek Casino & Resort, is located 20 minutes from Olympia and is just a little over an hour from Seattle. When the course opened in 2011, it was named "Best New Course" by both Golfweek and GOLF Magazine. The dramatic landscape of the course travels up and down over 600 feet of hillside, providing panoramic views of Kamilche Valley. The golf course is covered in bentgrass turf more frequently found in tropical climate, but that is just one of Salish Cliffs' many unique amenities. Each hole offers a unique challenge. Though the fairways and large greens roll true, accuracy is essential or you'll be severely penalized for missing them. The course finishes on a positive note with an opportunity for a birdie if you favor the left side all the way.

Outstanding Course, Worth the Drive...
The course was in really great shape. There was definitely a premium on hitting straight drives. The fescue grass off the fairways was tough, and you were taking a penalty if you got into it. Good shots were rewarded and bad ones penalized, which is how a golf course should play. Amazing views throughout the entire course, and the staff was very accommodating.
Our foursome played on Saturday afternoon and it took about 4:15 to play, which is not bad at all. I will definitely play this course again. It was challenging, yet still fun.
Nice course - but wet and over-watered
Great views, nice holes with great variety. Don't understand why they throw so much water on the course. It's always "soft", with very little roll. This make the course play easier for big hitters because the ball plugs a little. The average player would benefit from more roll.
Fantastic Course
In my opinion, this is the best course in Western Washington at the moment. Incredible fairways to hit from, true rolling greens and great layout. It was a windy day which made it challenging with regards to club selection, but I would do it again in those same conditions.
Not for the 'spray and prayer'
If you have any difficulties keeping your ball close to the fairway, bring lots of balls, a couple dozen should be enough...don't bother trying to find it if you miss. You'll only ruin what was a very speedy round considering the difficulty of this course. The greens are some of the most challenging I've played in Washington, up there and maybe even slightly more difficult than Chambers Bay. But they do roll true if you can figure out how to read them. The rough is thick and there's only typically 2-10 yards of it before you are in knee high grass that eats balls for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Keep it on the fairways and greens at all costs and you'll still have a challenging round of golf. The aprons of the greens are smooth enough to putt on and sometimes it's a better option than a chip as getting a ball to stop on the greens can be a challenge. Wonderful course, I would play again.
Challenging, pristine course.
This course definitely deserves all the accolades it has received. Very tight cut fairways, long tough rough and excellent greens. This has to be one of the top courses in Washington. I was disappointed in the pace of play and the course marshall didn't seem to be concerned about it.
Previous rain forced us onto the cart paths only requiring a lot of walking to and from our balls. One had better be in good walking condition.
Bring a lot of balls if you plan on hitting anywhere but the fairway. One can not find any balls in the tall fescue grass. Greens look fast but are not. Everything is manicured to perfection. A very nice challange from either tee box.
Amazing Course
As good of a course as you could want to play. Fairways and greens are perfect. I played Bandon Trails a few years back and the overall conditions and attention to detail at Salish Cliffs reminded me of Bandon Trails. Playing here is a big golf experience. Preferred it over Newcastle, Suncadia and Gold Mountain. Toss up between here and Chambers Bay - they are so different.
Go play this course
I played this course May 25th 2013 and it was great! Got caught in a bad rain storm but ended up waiting it out in the club house. I ordered an amazing Bacon Club house Burger (Totally Recommend) The great thing about the course is the pre round range balls and the GPS on the carts.
I really appreciated the staffs help, they were quick to answer any questions and helpful with local course knowledge. Everything plays just a little bit longer than expected. Take about 1 club longer than you think you need.
Besides not being able to take your cart to your car in the parking lot and damp condition (better fairway drainage) I would totally recommend playing this course!
Enjoy and make sure you him em straight
The course was in great shape
I played this course as a single, so the pace of play was fast. The farways were cut low as were the greens. The day I played I had rain showers but greens rolled true and fast.
VERY FUN COURSE AND UNPROFESSIONALISM BEHIND THE COUNTER.. BEWARE!
I would have given this place five stars instead of 4 had it not been for the Pro behind the counter who was very unprofessional! A previous review mentions how the the gentleman behind the counter in the pro shop didn't seem to care if you were there.. Boy was that dead on! It seems to be a common theme in these reviews.
Beautiful layout
Very beautiful course, well maintained, and difficult. Play was somewhat slow due to the 4 some in front of our group. A long drive from Seattle for a day trip. Tried to book a stay and play directly, but the advertised price for the package was not available. Golfnow offered the best alternative. Course standard rate is a little pricy, but the Golfnow deal was a great value.
Great course in excellent condition!
A top 10 for Washington state! Comparable to Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon.
Not your typical NW course.
Love the bent grass greens....a little slower than they look, but if you put the ball on line and stroke it well, it will go in!!
That said, the fringe areas are really spongy. If you pitch it in to the fringe...it will die and most likely not get to where you played it.
If you putt or chip from the fringe....you'd better strike it on the upstroke because hitting down will kill any momentum due to the sponginess.
Very interesting holes and great conditioning!
Course is tough & challenging.
Went with 2 friends up there and I have never been treated so bad by someone who says they are a professional golfer.
I've been in the golf business for 16 years now.
And I have never seen a pro so RUDE in all my life.
Bcuz of how we were treated by the staff.
We will not be going back there.
course nice looking some great holes
thought the course was good-great holes fun to play--startter,cart guys really great--pro shop on the other hand was sad-the person behind the counter should find another job where customer service is not required-he acted as though he didn't care whether we where there or not--I would never play this course based on the service if I had to pay full price--this is a good 40.00 course but not 90.00--it seemed that the traps all had footprints -there was no cart person on the course and no marshels -for the money they ask they need to get customer service people in their pro shop
!!! Awwsome trac!!!
I would drive 1&1/2 to play this course any day of the week!!!!
Keep it in the fairway!
Great course, well maintained but rather wet. We had a couple of days of rain before playing and there were many places in the fairway with casual water, even on the slopes. The rough is long and difficult to find a ball because it is so thick. We played in about 4 3/4 hours mostly because we spent time searching for our drives. It is a cart only course and the day we played we were restricted to cart paths which I think happens often. The GPS in the carts gave good info but very few sprinklers with yardage on the course. Why can't courses put the old fashioned 100, 150...etc. markers on the fairways? Despite all that, we will be back. Only 15 minutes from Olympia.
Creative course design
I have golfed in some top world ranked golf courses. Although this course has some good bones, it currently does not merit the full rate it is charging. I paid $45, but the greens had just been punched. Unfortunately, there were numerous areas of sloppy mowing, lots of long, clumpy grass clippings left near greens and fairways. Bunkers have great sand, but they did not trim the edges, so it looked unkept. Fairways were smooth and well maintained. Some excellent options on a number of holes, big bombers can go for it!
Best weather
One of the top 10 courses I've ever played. Very peaceful place to play. Not one house anywhere on the property and great veiws all over. Must play for any one. Thank you Golf now for getting such a awsome course to your library.
Nice track
Course is somewhat challenging. Rough was starting to grow and was heavy and wet. Otherwise, course was in good condition and greens were fast, compared to other courses in the area. The pace of play was slow, but we were alerted to this. First really nice day of Spring and on a Sat. Could have seen the refreshment cart more frequently though.
