Salish Cliffs Golf Club
About
Salish Cliffs Golf Club, part of the Little Creek Casino & Resort, is located 20 minutes from Olympia and is just a little over an hour from Seattle. When the course opened in 2011, it was named "Best New Course" by both Golfweek and GOLF Magazine. The dramatic landscape of the course travels up and down over 600 feet of hillside, providing panoramic views of Kamilche Valley. The golf course is covered in bentgrass turf more frequently found in tropical climate, but that is just one of Salish Cliffs' many unique amenities. Each hole offers a unique challenge. Though the fairways and large greens roll true, accuracy is essential or you'll be severely penalized for missing them. The course finishes on a positive note with an opportunity for a birdie if you favor the left side all the way.

Expect windy conditions
Well maintained golf course, with nice 18 hole layout. There was swirling winds and found out that was the norm, so expect to lose a few balls, especially with dense borders along the fairways. Excellent food and staff was very courteous. The course is located on the backside of the casino. Give yourself a little time to get there and hit a bag of balls that are free with cart/green fees.
Excellent Conditions and Perfect Weather
This was my first time playing Salish Cliffs. The course was in excellent shape and the greens may have been the best I have ever played. This course ranks as a Top 5 course for me. And I have played several PGA Tour courses.
The bag drop is pretty straight forward and the assistants were helpful and friendly. I was able to get a pretty good rate through golfnow so that made me feel pretty good to start with.
The driving range was pretty small but it had multiple targets to aim at. The targets were close to the speed of a normal green so you could get some idea of how your shots would react to a full swing. The practice putting green was very much like the greens on the course so it gave you a good indication on what was in-store. The chipping area near 1 and 10 tee was as good as any I have seen. 3 greens to practice at with various conditions. Make sure you head up to the tee a few minutes early so you can take advantage of this area!
I thought there was a great mix of holes on the course and many stood out. All the holes were very fair. The par 3, 2nd hole was my favorite. It's a short par 4 that can be reached. I birdied that hole so of course it stood out. #1 is a par 5 and it can be reached in two but it's a very difficult tee shot. Make sure you are ready for that first hole. #18 is a great finishing hole that can be reached in two. It has some water to navigate on the approach.
I would suggest playing this course. The only negative was the pace of play. I played as a single and I had to wait on every shot and the round took almost 5 hours. I played a second 18 and no one was on the course. So if you go at the right time you can play in under 4 hours.
I can't wait to get back out to the Pacific NW so I can play this course again.
Salish Cliffs Golf Course
I drove down from Alberta to attend the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay and figured I'd play Salish Cliffs again as it was in the area. I've played here several times in the past few years (5 rounds in April) and have never been disappointed with the course. I have high praise for the golf course but a lot of golfers, myself included were pretty disappointed during a visit the week of the 2015 US Open at nearby Chambers Bay.
This visit was an exception, because the US Open was being played in the area golf course management took it upon themselves to "rip off the tourists" by charging $150 dollars instead of the usual $95 summer rate. The three ball I joined on the second hole & golfers I spoke with in the clubhouse after the round had choice words about the "gouging". Yes, I could have refused to pay their BS rate but I played anyway after having driven 2 days. Bottom line is...I won't be spending any money at Salish Cliffs when I take my annual spring golfing trip next year or the next.
Hotels jacked their rates from $150 to $500 a night during the US Open, but a golf course can't raise their rate?
Awesome course
Great course and nice staff. Would recommend to anyone who is in the area and looking for a beautiful place to go.
Worth the drive
Was able to book a "Hot Deal" on Golf Now. It is about an hour and 15 min drive from Renton to Shelton. Course conditons were great tee to green. One of my favorites in the Puget Sound area.
Perfect conditions
Sailors clips was a treat. The course was in excellent condition. It plays pretty fair but can come up and bite you at any time. A great challenge and I highly recommend playing it. I will definitely come back.
Great course and hit it straight
Played Salish Cliffs, as it was mid point for me (from Portland) and a buddy from Seattle.. Figured Mother's Day would be a good day as it wouldn't be too busy... Course greens were some of the best bent grass I have seen in the NW... The fairways are bent grass too! We flew around in just under 4 hours and it was nice to have the carts off the paths. Pretty hilly track with a lot of elevation change.... Only knock was the starter started his "Welcome" to the course rather abruptly with a "Where's your receipt?" and a mild discipline of my buddy who hit 4 chips on the putting green, who didn't see the sign "putting only"... ok dude, got it.. can't hit any bump and runs... Rest of the staff was awesome and had some food and drink in the restaurant afterwards... overall Great spot!!
Pre Mother's Day outing
an awesome day from start to finish. Mike, the starter, was extremely friendly and took pride in "his" course. The greens were in amazing shape. Joanie, the cart girl, was right on the spot. I shot my PR with a birdie and 2 pars. Don't get too attached to your balls tho' - if they go in the rough, they are gone. The key - stay in the fairway.
Beauty!
Great layout with a great mix of hole difficulty. Almost like we had the course to ourselves. If you are a RV er stay right at the casino park. Washroom had marble counters & tiled showers... beautiful & clean. The course is a half mile away. Drove 40 mins & played Chambers Bay.. another beauty!
Beautiful Venue!
Salish is one of our favorite courses! Staff, facilities and course condition were wonderful. Takes a while to play it, though.
A must play
The course is a beautiful track........challenging from the tournament tees..........greens were recovering from being punched so they were a little rough but come middle spring and summer the greens will be phenomenal............the staff is good but their dress code is too strict..........I had expensive under Armour mesh active wear pants on with a collared shirt............I was told they were sweat pants because they had an elastic waist band so they gave me a pair of rain pants...........this course is a must play for anyone
Beautiful
Great course. Very challenging. Wet due to recent rain was the only drawback
sandy greens
only 4 holes were cart path only, other than the par 3's. they had punched the week before, but greens were still sandy, alot of three putts. if you are not long of the tee{gold} move up to the next box you won't be sorry, it is suppose to be fun, right
This course was fun to play
course was in great shape and a moderate challenge. The worst thing was the recently sanded greens, should be great in another week or two. I still had an enjoyable time and was worth the drive.
Amazing golf course
Course had the greens punched and sanded, which made putting difficult, but we were told prior to paying for our rounds and it made no difference in our overall enjoyment. The golfnow deal is what got us there ,but will return when prices return to normal.
great time but
Wasnt told about the over seeding. It was the only thing that made it not the greatest experience. But had a good time overall.
WOW!
Playing like it was early June! What more can I Say?
greens
The greens were incredible for this time of year. There was no roll out on the fairways but they were also in great shape.
Amazing course
Fairways and greens were in great shape. The course had a lot of elevation changes and some interesting holes. Casino also had great food in the Seafood bar.
MAVERICK
A better then average golf course but normal green fees are much higher compared to other good golf courses in the area..
If you played as a single, you should expect to wait on every shot unless the course is empty. I would agree that 5 hours is too long for a round of golf.
