Hills at Pecan Valley Municipal Golf Course
About
The old Pecan Valley muni has evolved over the years as the successful culmination of work between the Army Corps of Engineer, the city of Fort Worth, and the Tarrant County Water Control District. When the city sold the old Worth Hills Golf Course to Texas Christian University, they were able to fund a deal to buy the 27-hole Benbrook Municipal below Lake Benbrook.
The Hills Course was rounded out in 1981 by Dave Bennett, who completed the addition to supplement this shorter, more wide-open course. The course is less lengthy now but water comes into play often, including the 375-yard 2nd hole that doglegs left around water.

The only problem was we seen the cart girl at the 2nd hole and never seen her again not good on a warm windy day, Other than that it was good,
Better than meadowbrook
Staff was kind of rude just started at me when I walked in. When I asked her how she was doing she didn’t reply. Everything else was fine. Course is in good condition for a muni
Great Little Course
We played the River Course, and it was a fun little course. Not the nicest in the area, but for the money, I thought it was great. I'd certainly play it again.
Pace of play was a disaster
Course had fivesomes, singles, and people playing multiple shots. At one point we had 4 groups waiting on a hole with us and we hadn’t even tee’ed off yet. Course was great but the pace was so bad I don’t think I can ever play here again. Staff friendliness also leaves a lot to be desired. We played on a Monday and I hear mondays are the busiest here.
Best Value Around
We played the Hills course, which is not as challenging as the River. These guys do a great job of providing good to very good conditions for a great value. $ 30 on a Saturday (11:52AM) is tough to beat for a course like this. I always recommend PV and speak highly of it. Keep it up, Pecan Valley team!!!
Nice course
Was able to play the core in 3 hours and 15 minutes so pace of play was really good. Hole layout is a little different than normal but otherwise a good course
Efficient Sunday
Tee boxes, fairways, & greens were in pretty good shape considering the effects of the February winter storm on the courses in the area. Range balls may end up on the turf of the 17th & 18th holes. Putting greens exist near the clubhouse & between #1 tee/#18 green as there is a significant distance between the clubhouse & #1.
Several watercoolers are on the course.
Depending on how you play, several fairways run parallel to each other; a wayward left drive on #15 could end up on the turf of #2 for instance.
A right-to-left ball flight is helpful on the par 3 7th, the par 4 10th, the par 3 11th, & the par 4 18th.
This is one of the better courses cost-wise to play on a weekend if it is available on the TeeOff/GolfNow platform. The cost for the round reflects the use of a voucher that took it down from the low 30+ dollar range.
Enjoyable
First time to play the hills side. Most holes are fairly open but there are some challenging holes. Greens do not run the same as river course
Nice play
Had a great time playing The Hills Course. It had some great challenging holes with water and sand traps. Staff was very friendly and helped us. I would definitely go back and play this course.
Awesome course
This has been the nicest course I’ve played so far this year as far as condition and play! Wish they had more back cleaning stations but honestly overall the best course I’ve played and the price is amazing!! I’ll be back tomorrow to play again
fun time
Had a really good time the fairway needed mowing, the greens are coming back after the big freeze this year. Overall my wife and I like the course.
