Good Track, Poor Pace of Play
This is my first time playing here and I was generally pleased. However, the pace of play was atrocious. I played as a single and caught up to a twosome on hole 5. Due to the fact there was no Marshall there was no opportunity for them to be told to speed up and they were not smart enough to let me play through even though I rolled up right behind them and asked if they would mind if I played through with absolutely no acknowledgement so I pulled back and just waited on every hole after that. It was so bad that another twosome caught up to me on hole 10. Here’s why I was truly annoyed there was a twosome ahead of them they caught up to and did not join. This would have opened up the spread between groups a bit more. On hole 12 another group caught up to us so now there were essentially three groups waiting for this group and they just dint figure it out.
The conditions were very nice. The sand was fluffy and soft not something I was expecting. My only negative comment here is to get new rakes because I am still pulling fiberglass splinters from my non-glove wearing hand. The greens were very nicely maintained but I could tell the group ahead of me didn’t comprehend fixing pitch marks as I was consistently fixing their marks, and I knew this because I was fixing marks based on where they were putting from. Fairways were in fantastic condition as well.
My last comment will be to address that there is no blocks from the consistent breeze / winds. Overall there is not much cover as this is a very wide open course. There was also no food or drinks so this is the only course I have been to in quite some time that BYO is authorized and encouraged. There is no beverage cart either.
Had a great time
Got a deal on golf now. So got together with my two sons. We had a great day of golf and bonding. Corse has some challenges to make fun.
Will always be my go to course!
Great course with outstanding greens! This is my son and i’s go to for most of our play! Recommend for everyone!
Great Value
One of my favorite golf courses in Louisiana! Hidden gem in the state. Even though they took a lot of the bunkers out of play and filled them in, it’s still a good course! Would play it any day!
5 star review
I live and play in Central FL. I put LaTour up against any of the courses I play for conditions and cost. I wish o lived closer because I would play LaTour all the time!!!
Great Course and Staff
Course is in great shape as it always is. Staff was great and always are. One of my favorite courses in the area. I would be a member, but its a little too expensive.
Nola/Fl boy
First time visiting LaTour. The name itself caught my attention. Beautiful, hope I'm around when fully developed. Fast Greens
very nice
Course was in great shape, only problem was the wind.
Blowing all day 1 to 2 clubs.
The course was in really good condition. The greens are in great shape.
Good challenging course
Great staff. Course was in good condition. Layout is a little more challenging than what I normally play. Wasn’t mad to shoot a 102 here.
The staff was very friendly and pace of play was great. However, the fairways and bunkers were in terrible shape. The greens weren’t too bad. The fairways are like hitting out of your backyard. Some of the bunkers are just grass now. Overall, if you are looking for a quick round and you’re not that good of a golfer I would recommend. Other than that, I’ve played sixty dollar courses that are better than that. Was very disappointed. Probably will not be coming back.
Challenging Course, Good Value for LA
Long holes, lots of water, many sand traps. I’m a beginner golfer and definitely struggled getting through this. I would love to return after I improve my game. For Louisiana this course is great value for such beautiful landscaping.
Great secret in Mathews
Great condition always nice to play here
I drive 1:15 to get here and it worth it
