Golf Trip 5/1/26
Fairways were good. Greens were in bad shape. Putting the ball on the greens was like playing plinko. You didn’t know what direction your ball was gonna bounce.
LaTour Review
One of the best hidden gems in Louisiana. Course was in great shape. Fairways and greens. Just aerated the greens on Monday and they were still smooth and rolling. I would recommend anyone to come and play.
Great place to play
Great shape! Greens was really smooth and rolling very well. Fairways and rough was cut perfectly. Latour is probably a top 10course in South Louisiana. I recommend playing this course if your in town.
Really nice
High quality golf course!! Probably going to be windy… not many trees
Crab grass/bugs/confiscated ice chest
I get that you’re not supposed to have an ice chest but EVERYONE does it. We were buying more beer from the cart lady and she confiscated our ice chests.
Crabgrass all over the greens.
Gnats and bugs EVERYWHERE!!!
COMPLETELY OVERPRICED!!!
Winter golf
Course was brown, but the greens have held up fairly well through the winter. There’s some goat grass popping up which should be taken care of.Should be excellent in a few weeks.
Hidden Gem!
When it comes to public courses, there aren't many good options in the area. Luckily we have La Tour. The course is a lot of fun and is a bit challenging. No. 5 is a bear, par 4 that plays 471 from the blue tees. It is a links course and the wind is always a challenging and lots of water. Not many amenities but a club house is currently under construction. The driving range could be better. The hitting area is in good shape, but they need to add yardage markers. It is a great deal for the experience.
Best Bang for Your Buck
Absolutely great place to play. Near the top of the list of all courses in the area, and the price is phenomenal! Great practice facilities! Love this course!
LaTour Golf
I think the course has a great layout and is maintained at a high level. The staff are very cordial and helpful. My only concern was the speed of the greens. They were so hard and fast that 3 putts were inevitable and chips and pitches were not holding. The fairways were very tight as well and drives would run forever. Playing out of the rough was easier at times. I think that is probably a seasonal issue. It’s definitely a course I will play again with a Golf Now hot deal. I think there are courses around, within a 40 mile radius, that are better and whose fees are more reasonable.
Speed
The course is in great condition! Fairway are so consistent, bunkers have been re-imagined and I love it. Greens are super fast, seemed to be rolling at a 12+. Easily my favorite course in South Louisiana
Great layout love the course
I just think it’s a little bit pricey if you could stay under that $50 mark, you will draw more of a crowd
Good Track, Poor Pace of Play
This is my first time playing here and I was generally pleased. However, the pace of play was atrocious. I played as a single and caught up to a twosome on hole 5. Due to the fact there was no Marshall there was no opportunity for them to be told to speed up and they were not smart enough to let me play through even though I rolled up right behind them and asked if they would mind if I played through with absolutely no acknowledgement so I pulled back and just waited on every hole after that. It was so bad that another twosome caught up to me on hole 10. Here’s why I was truly annoyed there was a twosome ahead of them they caught up to and did not join. This would have opened up the spread between groups a bit more. On hole 12 another group caught up to us so now there were essentially three groups waiting for this group and they just dint figure it out.
The conditions were very nice. The sand was fluffy and soft not something I was expecting. My only negative comment here is to get new rakes because I am still pulling fiberglass splinters from my non-glove wearing hand. The greens were very nicely maintained but I could tell the group ahead of me didn’t comprehend fixing pitch marks as I was consistently fixing their marks, and I knew this because I was fixing marks based on where they were putting from. Fairways were in fantastic condition as well.
My last comment will be to address that there is no blocks from the consistent breeze / winds. Overall there is not much cover as this is a very wide open course. There was also no food or drinks so this is the only course I have been to in quite some time that BYO is authorized and encouraged. There is no beverage cart either.
