The Golf Club At Fossil Creek

A friend and I played here on 1/16/2023 (MLK Day) for the first time. We'd heard varied reviews of the place but decided to give it a chance.

Starting with the Clubhouse- Check in was fairly easy although due to an early tournament and what appears to be over booking, we had to wait until the last minute on a cart.

Carts are older and in desperate need or repair/replacement. (Torn seats, steering wheels not set in correct opposition to steering, very rough suspension)

Staff was generally polite (cart girl was great!).

Bathrooms could have used some additional cleaning.

Went to order drinks in grill and bar was out of bottled water (only one bottle left).

Course - Easy to follow layout. Appears to be very nice but, given time of year and maintenance, there were several issues.

Both fairways and greens were hard as concrete (greens were recently aerated and were not true rolling).

No sand on carts to fill in divots.

Was hoping there would be a cooler on the cart but there was not.

Uncertain I would recommend this course to anyone in the next 2-3 months but may try playing early Spring 2023 to see if conditions have improved.

I figured it would be busy. A beautiful sunny Saturday. We were a foursome, and we usually play a round in 3 1/2 hours. But it was horrible. Right from the start. There was a super slow 2 some that were 2 slots ahead of us. Then there was the kid that was by himself hitting 2-3 balls off every tee, in the fairway, in the bunkers, on the green. It was horrible. 15 minutes or more on a par 3!!! There were no Marshalls to be found. It made it a dreadful experience. And the bad thing is the 3 guys I had with me had never played there! They were really disappointed. After 4 hours of play we had only played 14 holes. It started getting too dark to see our shots any more, so we called it quits. I really like this course, but after today….. I’m never coming back……

Course has a nice lay and was in excellent condition for the time of year we played. Appeared to be we’ll maintained.

To be fair I did go to this course off season and it was a chilly day so condition rating and recommendation may be different during better part of the season.

Finding the course was very easy which was nice. Upon arriving there was not many people at all and I entered the golf shop with. I one in line or in the shop. A younger attendant was there and ignored me for a good 5 min while on their phone. The welcome was cold and off putting which didn’t give a good first impression. Once I was checked in it was pretty open so going out after a quick warm up was very easy. For the price and being off season I would have expected a small bucket of range balls to be included. It was not, but it didn’t state that in the deal so I was prepared. The greens were in expected condition for the season and they did roll well. The layout of the holes and atheistic was pretty nice and the postage stamp greens are made for a shot maker no doubt. It’s a good track for an accurate ball striker but if you’re a sprayer it could be a long day. Even though it was a quiet day I still saw Bev cart at least twice which was great considering the weather that day.

I just wasn’t overly impressed with the staff and course itself but it wasn’t a bad place to play.

It is a nice course with great layout. My only suggestion is to replace the old and junky carts with new ones. I played on other courses owned or managed by the same company as FC. and most have old and junky carts.

Today was my second time playing Fossil Creek, and it hasn't disappointed me yet. Although my golf game was off today, the course was spot on.

No marshall allowed a slow-playing 4-some to bottleneck play. Love the course! Need to manage slow play.

Challenging layout. Only Men’s bathroom on course out of service. Cart paths in need of repair. 4 1/2 hour round.
