Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Club
About
Thankfully Fredericksburg offers this facility as a respite from incessant turista shopping along the main drag. While not overly fancy, this little Hill Country course gets the job done while the shoppers in the family spend their days in town.
The Jeffery D. Blume-designed track plays around 6,700 yards from the tips and includes plenty of trees and water hazards that get in the way.
You’ll notice the two par 5s on the front. No. 3 is the signature, playing 523 yards and forcing a shot over a creek, and another over a bluff. No. 5 is longer, a testy 578 yards from the back.
The most difficult rated hole is the No. 9, a 425-yard par 4, but the regulars complain more about the challenging 18th, an even longer par 4 that plays 450 yards from the tips.
Getting there : The course is just south of town on the west side of the highway.

Crappy condition
Not in great shape around the greens price is crazy high for this plac
Course was alot of fun. Wish the wind hadnt been blowing 500 miles an hour, we might’ve played better! saw wildlife during the round and would definitely play here again.
Lady Bird Johnson Course
Is a very nice course, given the recent snowstorm course was in good shape the greens were fast, a good challenging course that you will enjoy playing.
Best it’s been.
Outstanding greens. Hard running fairways. Best greens I’ve played in the area this winter. This course was in awesome shape except for the sand traps. They should just do away with them if they aren’t going to tend them.
Course is fine for a muni, but price should be lower
The course is in ok shape. They need some rain, like everywhere else. However, I've played other munis that I felt were in better shape and charged less money.
Nice course. friendly staff
Course successfully enduring the cold dead period of winter. Most fairway / rough grass on course is dead & brown and very short due to frost & freezing temps. Tee boxes and greens appear to have been over seeded, and are in good shape. Without clearly identified "green" fairways it is a very difficult course to aim your drives. There are some blind tee shots over hills making it hard to know where to drive the ball without local knowledge. This was my first time to play the course and found the cart paths lacking enough signs giving directions to the next hole. Had to ask other players and back track a few times after taking the wrong route. More cart path route signs, particularly at crossing intersections, would be very helpful. Otherwise had a real good time playing the course.
A good challenge!
Tough but fair. A good test for all skill levels. Fun for me to play.
Great golf getaway in Fredricksburg
Staff was very friendly and helpful - it was dead of winter so had to forgive the natural dormancy of the fairways - greens were in great shape - highly recommended for any level golfer when in Fredericksburg
LBJ
Course was in good shape. The greens were fantastic as were the tee boxes. Fairways got good roll from the dormant grass. It can get windy which makes the front 9 a little more of a challenge but it had some fun holes. Definitely would play again
Very nice course
The course is fun to play, great layout and excellent greens. Only downside was the food and beverage service wasn’t open on Monday.
Need to remove sign on hole 8 to order food!!! We called numerous times no answer!!! Then I spook to one of the cart attendant and they said they were not doing the call in orders ?
Great layout
Very good shape. Played w3 locals. We had a good time
First time to play here.
I playing this course yesterday. Tee off was at 120p. Tee off was right on time. This course is in the top 3 I've ever played. Greens fast and fairways plush. Blind tee shot on #3 par 5. Cant wait to play it again.
