not told of conditions
had the first tee time. course had rain the night before. all the traps were unplayable. cart parts only. should have been a reduced fee for condition of course. talked to pro when finished saying should have stated conditions of course before taking our full fee money. then playing would have been OUR choice . and on some holes they drained the water/ with sand into the fairways! why there?
Great experience!
First time playing this course... would not have found it if not for golfnow! Course was wet from rain the prior evening, but in really good shape. Some work could be done on the bunkers, but overall excellent condition. The staff is exceptional!
challenging but fair.
played on a Sunday afternoon, Pace of play was as fast as we wanted to play. no one in front of us. the greens are fantastic.
the fairways fantastic. grounds crew deserves an a plus for the look of the entire course. it's a pretty tight layout. the only negative was the closeness of houses on a lot of holes. i hit a pull hook and cringed waiting to see if i hit a house. got away with it but it was close. with a hot deals tee time the value was great. the regular prices are not out of line either. will be back soon. get your tee time.
Terrible pin placements.
The greens were really fast but the pin placements were horrible. It was set up like a U.S. Open on a Sunday. All the pins were on crowns and if you didn't stop the ball literally right at the hole you would run off 10-15 in all directions. On two of the par there's I was pin high and the pin was right on a ridge. Two inches left of the hole the ball ran down the hill 15 feet, two inches right and the ball ran down the hill the other direction 15 feet and if you went two feet past the hole the ball ran off the green. One green I had a 10 foot uphill putt, putted it by the hole by about a foot and the ball rolled back to me and I had a longer putt than the first one. The tees and greens were full of in repaired divots as were the fairways. The fairways are to be expected but not the greens. Also, we teed off at 8:00 and I could see distinctive footprints on all the greens as if they had been walked on by someone in waffle soled running shoes. The greens had definitely not been rolled. A small blessing I guess because the speed if they had been would have been lightning fast. The footprints made holding any sort of a line impossible. Nice course but needs better care.
One of the nicest courses in the area
Hollow Creek is well maintained. Keep it in the fairway and you'll do great. The rough is thick and very difficult to play out of. Makes for a challenge...
good overall expierance
tuesday morning tee time. starter greeted us with carts in the parking lot, which doesnt happen too often, that was nice, and had us off within 10 minutes, which was also nice, because we were trying to beat the heat. course was in very good shape, my only gripe with the course/staff was that there was a lot of maintence going on during my round, lots of grass cutting, bunker prepping, things that in my opinion should have been done before 10am. One maintence worker in particular refused to look up or stop working during my round, which resulted in him almost getting hit my a 180 yard 3 iron. other than that, i had a very good time, and will be returning.
Beautifull and playable but challenging!
This was the second time we played this course and we love it. However, you should bring your best game, specially to the front nine. The course is not extremely long and fits female golfers very well.
Nice track; challenging but very fair.
Got a great deal using GolfNow.com however was very disappointed when we were told on 9th fairway that we'd have a 20-30 minute wait to play the back 9 because of league play. Unacceptable! We opted to replay the front 9; no one in front or behind us. Not sure who manages the course but they need to pay a bit more attention to tee times, pace of play etc. We completed our round and stopped in the pro shop to discuss this issue but no one was available. Great course but not sure we'll make any big effort to return.
Challenging course, nice condition.
Very good value for the money! Greens were fast, about 11 on the stimp so you will three-putt if not careful. Conditions were nice, layout is tough but fair. I played early in the day and the starter let me out by myself before my tee time. Then two guys came up to me on the first tee so I asked if they want to join me. They said: "Goon ahead but stay out of our way because we play fast!" Friendly guy .... not! I went ahead, finished in 3 hours and never saw them again! But I would highly recommend the course. Good value on GolfNow.
Great venue
Great venue to make family golf in the afternoon. I played this course after 8 years lag, still remember some layouts of the holes. My son and wife enjoyed the course a lot and they requested to play here again. The course is interesting layout which contains reasonable up and down. The rough around the green was tricky, it often makes the ball in the sinking manner. I will be back in a couple of months.
Nice course with fast greens
The course is in a very good condition. The greens are very fast!
Awesome greens, well maintained
Use golfnow to get an early tee time. Usually a lot of members playing and using practice facilities
Cool layout, relatively short, tough greens, and what's with the gnats!?
Very fast greens with a lot of slope make this a difficult course. Not especially long or tight, but on some holes the putting was hard if you were on the wrong place on the largish greens. Enjoyed it, though I did not play very well. Fair, but challenging, well maintained track.
Very nice conditions, staff well organized and helpful at check-in.
The course is in very good condition. Spacing on tee times allows for players to start on time. Only complaint- unable to get even a hotdog at the turn since the bar area was disorganized and understaffed. After the round we wanted food and despite asking for a menu, no one came by to take our orders- so we left without eating after 1/2 hour. We had to get our own drinks at the bar (and we had to ask 3 times to get served there too).
Great course
THE GREENS AND TEE BOXES WERE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AS IF PLAYING ON AN EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE COURSE.
challenging track/good food
the course was in good condition and the greens were true but fast. in short a good taste of one'sskills.
This course has lots of ravines and highly uneven, and difficult putting greens.
If you are looking for a "hollow creek," you won't find a single one. But, if you are looking to drive the ball over ravines, or putt on highly uneven greens ---the two key features of this Hollow Creek --- play this course. Those two features are what make this course, which is well-maintained and pretty, somewhat difficult. It is located inside a subdiviion in Midlletown Maryland, although the homes don't come into play too often. There is also a great finishing hole with the only water fieature (a pnd) with a a fountain) and a green with a stone retaining wall.
Rolling hills. Beautiful countryside.
Hollow Creek Golf Club was a fun course to play. The rolling hills an lush countryside make for some picturesque holes and challenging terrain. The course was wet (rain) the day we played but the greens still played very fast. Overall, it was a nice course and worth a trip.
This is a great course and an unbelievable value.
Just found out about this course last year and it is one of my favorites. Friday afternoon at 2:50 for $25 is an unbelievable value. Leisurely pace of just under 4 hours. Great view of every hole from the tee box. Condition was excellent with the exception of some of the sand traps that could use some sand. The greens were in great shape even though you could still see the aeration holes. The greens are usually fast and challenging. Most of the tee boxes sit above the fairway and the "framing" of every hole is spectacular. You will not be disappointed if you play here.
Challenging but fun course
The staff here is fantastic and the course itself is in great shape. The layout is challenging but still a lot of fun for golfers of all skill levels. Great course, I highly recommend it! The guys in the pro shop are fantastic!
