Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Riverside
Rain interrupted play about halfway through the round, but the course drained so well, that the rain did not seem to affect playing conditions.
The marshall is a great guy to have around
we always enjoy this course but this last go around the marshall came to us and informed us how slow it was up ahead, so he hung out with us and coached a little on the course, what a nice surprise to have such a knowledgeable gentlemen helping us navigate the course.
he should get a raise!!
A little dry, but
The course was in decent shape given the heat and lack of rain this summer. The greens were in great shape, but the fairways were super dry and burnt in most places. I expect it’ll come back with a little rain. The tee boxes on 15 and 16 are terrible. Both holes will have to be rebuilt if they lose anymore of them to erosion.
Save your time and money
Poor place of play, poor marshaling, one of the worst layouts I’ve seen with consistent holes you don’t see until you’re 100 yards away.
Good value for money
Course in pretty good shape given the lack of rainfall. Greens ran fairly smooth and true. Most bunkers in good shape. Fairways getting a little crispy
a great course layout
Havnt played this course in over 15 years and really like what they have done, but seriously? honor the 55 plus golfers and if its july 4th dont you think a vet discount might not be a bad thing?
Course was Moderate Play/Nice Facility
My first visit left a sour taste in my mouth cause I purchased the tee time on Golf Now at 8:05, just to get to the course and find out they moved my tee time to 9:45 without calling or telling me. I had gotten a baby sitter for my 4 week old and it was my husband and my first outing since baby so we didn't appreciate having to kill time until we could tee off and then we couldn't finish the round before having to leave. A phone call in advance would have been nice. The course/grass was okay... not the best but not the worst. Also, no liquor was available which was kind of a bummer but that's ok. Carts and pace were good, since we were forced to play after the tournament when it was getting up to 100 degrees that day...
great course
Love this place- BUT why do you go UP on the rates for july 4th and don't even offer military discounts?
seems Riverside missed the point.
