About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Great shape
Course was in very good shape. Some very challenging holes, but also a couple of short, easy par 4s. Lots of bunkers on this course. Was lucky to be paired with somebody who knew the course. Greens were challenging and very well kept. Looking forward to playing here again!
WOW
We loved the course, but, as beginning golfers it is way over out present abilities. The sand traps balloned our scores. We will come back at some point though. K
Solid Course, interesting layout
Fun course. Greens were in good shape and fast. Pace of play was a little slow because of two groups that were in front. Would definitely play again and recommend.
Short but challenging
On paper sounded like it was quite short, but lots of bunkers and lots of undulations make this quite challenging. Overall great value for money.

Beautiful course in perfect shape, three hour round and ...7 pars, 1 birdie. Wish I could play this course daily.
Good value - challenging layout
First time to play. Course and greens in very good condition. Food was delicious! Friendly staff. Not much else to comment on. Great day at golf with my son. Highly recommend this mid priced quality facility.
Greens are the best municipal greens
Best greens I have played in the Dallas area. No markings or blight, the greens rolled smooth.
Enjoyed the links style layout. First time on course, so played conservative, not knowing the doglegs or terrain around the greens or up the fairway.
Definite new playing course for me, as I look to break 80.
Great shot shapers course.
This place is so under rated. People always talk noise. about a 40$ city course. If you want perfect everything then you will pay triple this price. The course layout is cool. Lots of water. Lots of well laid out clover bunkers. Par3s are well thought out. Par 5s are all interesting. Bunkers need to drain a little better. You won’t find many courses this challenging for the price.
