Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Decent course, need new carts
Things you need to know:
This course has the smallest greens ever and the largest tee boxes
The carts at riverside are awful and need to be worked on/replaced
People who play here do not like to fix ball marks or repair divots
The layout is good but strange
Anyways it's a decent little course
Great conditions
Front desk employee was very friendly, as well as the starter. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Golf carts were ragged and very slow, no GPS. Very hot and we did not see the cart girl until finally on #14. She was also friendly. I will definitely be back. Cart girl needs to come around more often when it is so hot.
Well maintained course
Great course for the money. Course was fair but challenging. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were great. Definitely will play again!
Nice surprise
Hadn't played this course in +20yrs when I was a kid. Course is in great shape tee to green. I was surprised it was that nice knowing it was an old public course. Interesting and enjoyable layout. I had a great experience and price for a Sat round was less that average but the course was above average for courses that cost more. little bit of a drive for me but I'd go back .
Always fun
Great value. Wonderful course. Golf carts are very slow and nearly expired. Beverage cart staff always friendly but all other staff members are less than friendly.
First Timers
Good course and greens. Nice holes with water. Fairways a little baked but you would expect that with temps in the 100’s. Would definitely return.
Good Round but greens were aerated
Had a good round but reading speed and break on greens was difficult, since they were recently aerated and missing sand in the holes so they were quite bumpy.
Tough but fair
Surprisingly difficult. Some dog legs play like hair pin turns. Would like to see more shade on the course and maybe a bit more directions. First timers should take a map or use GPS
Great value
Fairways in great shape! Greens a little slow but consistent. Excellent pace of play!
Pace of Play
My group and I knew that the round would be slow when we pulled up and saw 3 4somes stacked up on 1.... but did not expect to be walking off 18 green 5 and a half hours after we teed off. Greens were in great shape, as always love the course layout, but management needs to stop overloading tee times every 5 minutes. We had to wait on every tee box on the front 9 for an average of 10-15 minutes. Really killed our enthusiasm for playing this course.
Really Great Course!!
Amazing golf course!! Range was a but hard to find? But one of the best courses in the area i have played!! Definitely would try this course!! I thought the pro shop guy could have been friendlier!! But could be my favorite course now!! Check it out!!

Course was in great shape. Greens are soft, and though on the smallish side, are very receptive and reward accuracy.
Have a Good Time
Very fun and challenging course to play. Played after a rainstorm so there were a lot of branches down and the sand bunkers were not in good shape, but other than that course was an excellent condition.
Worth the drive from downtown Dallas.
Caught a cooler day in early June, and the course was in great condition considering our drought/heat. They should call this course the dog leg, because they're everywhere, and they force you to be smart in your approach and use all the sticks in your bag. Plenty of elevated greens that are fun to shoot at, as there's usually a side you don't want to miss to. Greens were in great shape and rolling true (though not terribly fast). Several long putts made during our round.
Marshalls appeared a couple times during the round, but our pace (and those ahead/behind) was steady all day. The starter was friendly and having a good time with us. This isn't always the case on typically crowded, public courses, so it was a refreshingly positive start to the round that rolled into an all around great day of golf.
Call the course for specials, they have weekday deals and summer promos.. I believe Mon-Thurs rounds are $39, including cart, range balls, and a sleeve of Pro-V1!
