Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Short course, but worth it!
The course is a little short in my opinion, but for the price it's well worth it. I was impressed with the condition of the course, especially with the little rain we've had.
Nice course for the price
Course was in good shape, greens showed old cups in several places but didn't affect the putts. Otherwise the course was in nice shape. Got around in 4 hours and it was busy. Will definitely play there again.
Decent course, unfriendly staff
The course was decent with some interesting holes. I'll probably go back if I'm in the area again. The only downside was the one man working the proshop and cash register was very unfriendly and pocketed the change I was due when I paid my golf now fees. Then at the turn he charged me and my buddy $6 for 2 sodas which is way out of line with most courses in the area. And of course he didn't smile or say thank you.
Don't go for the service, go for the golf course.
Very disappointed
The course wasn't in the best shape. Lots of divots in fairways that hadn't been filled. It seemed like they would put the hole on one part of the green about 50 times before moving it to a different area. You could see where the holes used to be and weren't repaired well at all. The guy in the pro shop was very rude. I played 9 and told him the pace of play was bad and he was just rude about it. Definitely never spending my money there ever again.
Grounds need work
First time to play at the course. Probably wont go back for the price. The previous cuts for the holes were very noticeable and inconvenient when putting. No Marshall was on the course urging slow groups to speed up or telling them to let groups play through. Bunkers were not raked prior to the start of the first round. I could go play Chester ditto for the same quality at half the price. Improve the pace of play and grounds quality and ill come back
Nice property, needs upgrade
Shot maker course. Need to move the ball, right to left mostly. Nice property, not well maintained. Then again, the grass is dormant. Practice range is too close to open golf, open water that looked like sprinkler failures, and about 36 different pin locations on every green. Cannot putt a 10 ft putt without going over 2 or more other pin locations.
Great Course and good value. The greens are always in good condition.
Great course. Hole 18 has got to be the toughest finishing hole in the DFW metroplex.
fast greens were a challenge
had an early tee time, had to wait 1 1/2 hours for frost delay. the course was in very good winter time condition. have always liked the layout of this course.
great layout
great course layout, challenging to go low, but gives you enough places to bail out. requires some course management. greens are usually in good shape usually plays long with the wind
Just a Good Course for the Money
If you want a course with overall good conditions for the money then this is it. I cant stand a bad course and refuse to play them. Some of my buds say if the greens are good then they don't mind a bad fairways. I am not that way. I want both greens and fairways to be nice. Riverside has those conditions for a reasonable price. Great place to work on your game. Its not where I love to play but is where I go when I have alot of time to play and need to spend my money wisely. At times it can get backed up so make sure to start before twilight. You can get good deals before twilight on golfnow so that your still getting it for cheap.
Good course, real bad security
I love this course, our company golf league was set to play there weekdays after work. Had to move to Ditto because of thieves breaking into cars (more than once, multiple cars). Staff appeared unsympathetic and would do nothing to improve parking lot security.
Fun golf course layout but tough !!
The course is a fun course but the main problem is the people at the pay counter . I have been to Riverside twice this year and was very surprised to see the rotten attitude of the people taking my $$ . My 4some was shocked at the rudeness of the very people we were helping to make a living . not a fun way to start a much anticipated day of playing golf with the guys !!!
great different angles on front and back nine
Its late in the season and the course needs re seeding.. the bales were out on every hole. Hopefully this course will gets its green noursihment..
Pretty Nice Course
Played the course on Nov. 1, 2013. Course was in great shape. More water hazards than I would have expected on a course in Texas but this made the course more interesting. Some holes are close together and errant shots from other players on different holes can be expected. But overall a very good course with lots of variety.
The course was in great shape and provides quite a challenge.
Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and helpful. The pace of play was very good. The greens were in fantastic shape. the fairways were also in good shape. Bunkers were well taken care of and the GPS was super helpful. I will definitely play here on my next visit to Ft. Worth.
Very we'll maintained
The course is fair and very good for any type of handicap. The staff is competent
Nice track
Rained like crazy yesterday so very wet. Nice layout
VERY NICE FOR THE PRICE. "8" ON A 1-10 SCALE OVERALL
ENJOYED THE COURSE. GREENS WERE EXCELLENT & THE OVERALL LAYOUT WAS NICE. ONLY A FEW HOLES WERE DIFFICULT FOR US. THE ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THAT SOME OF THE BUNKERS WERE HARD AS A ROCK DIRT INSTEAD OF SAND.
Good Conditions/Great Greens
The greens always seem to be in very good shape at Riverside. I played using the Golf Now online signup which included a sleeve of ProV1 golf balls. Staff was very efficient at check-in. Course had received quite a bit of rain the last few days but was in good shape. Did notice some sprinkler heads that were leaking here and there. Enjoyed playing, Will definitely return.
Riverside is Great
Played the Riverside course twice in the last six weeks. The track is fantastic with a great combination of open, moderate, and tight difficult shots. Greens are great. The first time one of the sand traps needed sand. Yesterday, the traps were freshly filled with great sand. I sampled several.
Pace of play was great for a Saturday. Fairways were nice too. No complaints and a nice outdoor grill with hot dogs.
