Need a greenskeeper
Layout is fun, greens are ok but fairways are in terrible condition. Will not be back unless they actually grow grass
No grass
The fairways mainly had zero grass and a majority of the tee boxes had zero grass as well. Terrible conditions. You’d rather play in the rough than in the fairway because you knew you had grass at least.
Pretty bad, with the potential for improvements.
The course is in shambles right now, dead grass fairways and horrid greens. The pace of play is also an issue. I once saw a group of 6 teens playing on one hole. They took 5 minutes to advance 40 yards. I’m sure the course looks better in the late summer but I’ll stay away until then.
Disappointed
Course conditions were terrible. I’m sure they’re working on it, judging by huge mounds of sand off the back side of the club house, but should have made this known. Grass was hard to find, weeds yes, mud yes, bare dirt yes, grass no! I realize this is a budget course and college town, but the players there was ridiculous. We were offered to play through a few times, as soon as we teed off, ready for next stroke, they where hitting into us. Came across two ridiculously large groups. Even at discounted fees, won’t be going back.
Course in very bad shape
First I will say the staff in clubhouse are very helpful and cordial which is nice. Now to the condition of the course. Yes it has been very dry here until recent rains, but rain alone will not help the course conditions out. Management of course is obviously not committed to improving the conditions as it has been declining over the last several years IMO. I’ll start at the tee boxes which are extremely neglected. Most tee boxes are now all dirt and in dire need of re sod. The tee boxes need leveling severely. Fairways are not much better as most of them are also approaching being all dirt. Bunkers around course are rarely raked and in dire need of new sand being brought in and bunker walls need maintenance as well. The greens I will say are at least being paid attention to as they are all in good to almost excellent shape. There looks to be no general maintenance being done to trim trees, clean up nasty growth at bases, no picking up of limbs etc. Another plus is at least they have ball cleaners at some holes and are starting to place water jugs out once again. I hate to be this critical of a course but feel everyone should be made aware, because the nice staff does not warn you before taking your green fee payment. The Links has to invest more money and personnel in the up keep of this course or people will simply quit visiting it.
The fairways were bare dirt and couldn’t find grass to hit off in parts of fairway
Not too shabby
Went there for my first time yesterday. Really windy. Good course if you want to send it. Fairways are really tight and hazards are all over the place.
The driving range is a literal pond. You tee off into a big body of water. I’ve never seen that before and it was a little different. Still not bad. Course had 10$ big buckets of balls.
Greens were sandy but that’s typical aeration
Only drawbacks to this course is the layout is super confusing. Granite, it was my first time being there but finding the driving range and the first tee box was a little confusing.
All in all, it’s a good course for the money. If you want a challenging day that’s going to test how straight you can hit. It’s for you. Not a bad links style course.
I’m sure as the season progresses it’ll get a lot better play
Fun course
Fun course, challenging if you don’t hit straight. Greens were a little rough but it’s that time of year. Play here every chance I get
Good change of pace course.
Everything was pretty good. I realize we have had a lot of hot dry weather but fairways were really bare and hard.
