Quality course at an affordable price
I shot sub 90 for the first time here! Several holes on the back nine are towards the lake and the views are spectacular!!
Slow and Wet conditions
Golf course grass was very high in the rough just off the fairway and around the greens. On several occasions in the rough was 1-2 inches above my ball, making it abnormally difficult to play the ball from the fringes of the fairway. For what ever reason, the driving range was closed, which seems silly since you could tell that they were making everyone hit from matts. I would recommend this to a friend if they had no other options available.
Fred Arbanas
Played Fred Arbanas booked through golf now. Pre-Paid for 18 holes, but when we arrived they said a league had just started. This limited us to play only the back 9. While the course was in good shape, we paid for 18 holes but were rudely told that it doesn't matter and that we could only play 9. Would love to see what the front 9 entails. Disappointed with the level of service and the unwillingness to accommodate us.
Really Good Value for the Money
For a municipal course, this is good value for the dollar.
A fun yet challenging course, I had a lot of fun.
Greens were in great shape, and i think the driving range is good as well.
I will definitely be back
Good Course & Value
Never been here before. One of the better municipal courses I have played in the KC Metro.
Not too bad for pace of play, and it was not backed up at all.
Excellent driving range and chipping green to warm up.
Out of towners...
Was recommended by locals to play here. Staff was just friendly enough to not be considered rude. Course/area is beautiful. Lay out is nice. Natural grass /OB is ridiculous though. The rough is about 10yds on each side. Outside of that you need a weed wacker and a search dog to find ur ball in the grass. The ruff is 3-4 inches. 1 suggestion... WATER YOUR FAIRWAYS AND GREENS!!!!! I shouldn't see dirt dust up after ball hits the fairway. The ball control on the greens was uncontrollable due to the dryness.
"GATES" on and off the fairway and cart path only makes pace of play slow down.
We wont be back unless conditions improve..
Decent course for the money
This was the first time playing the course. The weather was near perfect. 70s, light wind mostly sunny. I was paired up with a couple and a another single..both very nice people which made for an enjoyable afternoon.
The course layout is decent. Somewhat short unless you play from the tips. The tee boxes were mostly dried out and in rough shape and in need of help. The fairways were much better with limited dry spots. Rough is lush and thick. A fair penalty for being off the fairway. The bunkers are a little light on sand but in OK shape. There's some water but only a hazard on a few holes. Greens were decent and would be better but players fixed their ball marks. I generally repaired 5 or more on every hole. Maybe it had to do with the high school tournament that went thru right before my tee time.
The staff from check in girls, rangers etc were all very friendly.
Driving range is acceptable to warm up for $8 and there is a chipping area.
Getting the Hot deal thru GolfNow made the cost including cart $39. The course is worth that and up to about $60.
There is a 9 hole par 3 course that the other single played for $12 with a max distance of 188 yards he said. Said the condition was a little better than the 18 hole course.
I would definitely go back for the price I've listed but not much more.
Average golfer
There has been quite a bit of rain at the course. The mud has since dried, except for hole 8, cart path only. Some of the tee boxes were worn down. Dead spots in the greens. Fairways were nice. Pace of play was a little slow for me. I had to leave course after 16th hole. We were at 4 hours then. Really nice day and high school kids had just finished their tournament. So it was expected to be a little slow. All the staff was nice and friendly. It would be nice to have a putting and chipping green separated. Overall nice course.
Arbanas is a great place to play and very affordable.
I have played Fred Arbanas many times in the past 8 years since I started playing golf seriously. The course was always one of the best layouts and great conditions especially their greens which are some of the fastest in the city. Unfortunately the Winter Geese have caused some problems with the greens and they are pretty chopped up and it will take a month or so for them to recover. But I highly recommend the Golf Course as they have maybe the best and friendliest Staff in the KC Metro. Especially with Rhett as the General Manager and Ben the Head Pro.
Tough Course
Overall the fairways, greens and tee boxes were in good shape. The rough (grass immediately outside fairways) was long. ~3 inch? with it being fairly thick and long, it made for a tough time to find balls that bounced in the fairway, but rolled off into the rough. the grass outside the rough was really long, NO chance finding a ball in those areas.
The greens were fast and hard. landing a ball on the green resulted in rolling off the backside.
I was able to chip and stay on about 25% of the time with a 52 degree wedge. Otherwise, putt / chip to get back on.
Front edge of the greens were watered, so landing in front of the green, resulted in no bounce, often plugged.
This is a nice course, with plenty of blind shots, tough greens (angled) and good sand.
Golf Now Issue
I made the tee time via Golf Now, and had planned to use the credit that I had in my Golf Now account. However, I had to pay the green fee upon check-in, because "they can't access the Golf Now credit." I had used available credit on the account the prior week at another course without incident. Very disappointing.
Very good experience at Fred Arbanas
I always enjoy playing Fred Arbanas. The greens are always very fast, but there was a lot of Geese damage done from the Winter. I’m sure they will be much better in the future. I love the Staff as they are very accommodating especially the head pro Ben.
The 5th Major
Meadow Royale never disappoints. Course has come a long way in recent years, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pick-me-up. Most holes are very forgiving, making it easy to score. A lot of fun memories out there and I fully plan on making more.
Windy day playing golf
Longview fairways still dormant but the course was fun to play, in good shape. So windy but the layout had some forgiveness.
I would play again.
Challenging property
This property has everything you want for a golf day. I especially liked the fairways, and beautiful lake views. I caught the bunkers defending the greens a few times. It wouldn't give me that tour golf feel if it was easy!!
