Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Golfer Reviews
Fun course
I read a lot of the previous reviews and people were talking about how the fairway wasn’t mowed and the greens weren’t rough condition but we didn’t have that issue. Most likely we got on after a fresh cut.
Poor condition
This course has gone downhill fast. The fairways were not mowed , they were in the same condition as the rough . Where the fairways had “grass”it was weeds and hard pan. The greens were atrocious, mostly bare or packed sand.
Overall the course is terrible. It isn’t worth a $10 fee.
Happy they’ve removed ALL TEMP GREENS!!!
Course is in much better shape, since my last round here around 4 months ago!!! Keep up the good work, please cut the fairway grass shorter.
Getting better
The course conditions have improved. The greens are green again with only 20 percent weeds. Much better than earlier this year when it was dirt and weeds.
Fairways are improving. Wet summer caused lots of grass and weeds in fairways. Many golfers have left.
I continue to play here because my golf ⛳ friends like the location.
I am encouraged that James and Kelly are improving the condition of the place. The new greens keeper is doing a nice job.
The course is in poor condition
Need to sell chap stick in the club house
improve tee boxes.
Lower green fees and cart fees.
I prob ly will not return how a while.
Greens
Greens are looking better than they have in a long time they still need some work but much better . I still enjoy playing because of the local convenience
6 years here
I’ve played this course for 6 years. I’ve seen the business change owners and transition over the last 3 months to again being best in value and eliminated temp greens! Outstanding work done. Keep it up! Not the course it was 3 months ago.
getting there
About a month ago, I had told myself that I would never go back to play there again. It was absolutely horrible. But it seems like that the crews are working hard to bring the course back to playable. Good course for the price!
Course is improving
Played here a couple months back and even though it was cheap, the temporary greens were not very enjoyable, but now all the temporary greens are gone, they are new carts and the prices even got a little lower which is always nice. the course conditions have improved and I’ve heard they got a new superintendent so I think they will continue to get better and better. I’ll definitely be coming back
Can’t beat the price
This course is a great place to work on your game. Most of these reviews say this place is a pasture. I don’t know what they expect to get when they pay $30 to play golf. The value of this course exceeds this price, especially for the layout. It is constantly improving as of recent. All you in the comments who expect Augusta for $20 can take your greedy attitudes somewhere else.
Little to no upkeep
Over the last 20+ years this course has gone thru so many changes, some good, most bad. The “fairways” had 3” tall weeds and grassy weeds. Tee boxes were unkempt, bunkers had grass growing in them and the greens were slow, bumpy and had grassy weeds growing on most. I’m sure when Jay Riviere did the redesign and expansion of this course he never envisioned how poor the conditions of this course would become.
Steadily Improving!
Played 2 months or so ago and course conditions were brutal. Gave it another shot last week and noticed improvement. Went again today and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can tell they’ve been putting some work into the course recently. Greens have improved a lot in the past couple months. Can’t really beat it for the $ when you get a hot deal.
Rather Drink Dirty Bath Water
I don’t know how this course is open. We were losing balls on the fairway due to conditions. Putting was similar to putting on a cow pasture. I don’t even play golf that often so I’m not picky, but this place is terrible.
