Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

May Greens
Everything is really great till you reach the green, add 2 strokes & go. The course should be fully back in order come mid May. Of all the good things the course has done to improve grounds, There are still patrons that are “Over Bearing” & tearing up the course any ways. Wish they felt like I do about courses; 90 degree rule & No Carts on Par 3’s.
Greens
17 out of 18 greens were nothing but sand and dirt, no grass, its almost may and the greens are terrible
Good Shape
The course is in relatively good shape along with 3 of 18 greens. Some time in May, they should be back completely good.
Stakes & Rope-Offs along many of the Tee boxes are the main issue on the back nine. While there are a few that are damaged beyond repair, there are others that can be saved. If I can mention a few; #5 Tee, #13 Tee, #14 Tee & #16. I always have a good time playing there.
GREENS ARE NO LONGER GRASS JUST GRAVEL
This is no longer a golf course, as 3 of the 18 greens have absolutely no grass left, it is just gravel. The rest have major issues, only 2 greens are even playable to be honest. Putting is a huge part of game, this was a driving range. Hard unmanaged fairways with terrible overall greens conditions. One green has an old wood bridge I would be scared to cross, as it is old rotten wood and loose fasteners. Staff was very unfriendly, when I told the member in the “pro store” I felt ripped off, he said “i KNOW”. I will not play again unless under new management. Carts are great,, and layout is nice, wonderful practice area, but the course is being destroyed by the lack of proper care. Charge a little more and keep up the course or sell out already.
Greens
Love the layout but they have lost the grass on nearly every green. Such a shame! Played back in the fall and greens were a little slow but now… putting on sand, nope just picked up once on the green. Needs some $ and TLC.
Course is improving
Greens are better than last year but still bumpy to putt on - sand bunkers are unplayable because they don’t drain and are very compacted with very little sand - lately they have increased the green fees which will limit my number of times to play per week - I don’t understand the increase in fees without any improvements ☹️
Bad greens
Course is in great location and nice layout but needs some major over haul. Trees need to be cut down and fairways and greens need a lot of work. Spend the money and you will make it back ten fold!!
Course conditions not good
I play here a few times a month. The condition of the course really needs to improve. After green fees were raised, I was hopefully the extra $$ would go to course maintenance. Really hope this gets better. I have a hard time paying the green fees and the course being in such bad shape.
Love the Course, Hate the conditions…
We’ve played this course for years and love the proximity and general overall layout, however the conditions right now are horrible. The “greens” are mostly sand with patches of weeds. Only two greens have any grass. Finding a good spot of something green to hit from in the fairway is also a challenge. It’s hard for me to believe that with these conditions they can keep the rates at $50, but they always seem to have plenty of players. I just wish a little more care was put into the course. It could be really nice.

Horrible.
The entire course needs work -- and the greens (actually, the "browns") need grass. They are packed dirt with encrusted pebbles. Impossible to putt on.
The irony is that the course was full of people playing. Or rather, trying to play.
So much potential….
Course has really gone downhill.
Pace of play not enforced.
Started playing here in the winter for the good value hot deals. With current conditions I do not think it’s worth more than a range bucket to be honest.
The greens are gone. They have laid sand on them but show no signs of life.
Rough
Tee boxes are terrible, fairway is non existent, greens are… not even sure how to describe them. I think a $20 round would feel more like a value here if you just want to hit some balls. Good luck finding any balls in the rough. Oh also, if you are lucky enough to actually be able to roll a putt in over the dirt mounds and spotted grass, there is sitting water at the bottom of the hole to soak your fingers.
