Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Hot & Humid
The course will still need a couple months to get greens back in shape. But the overall conditions otherwise were good. The mowing was behind a bit, due to rain & wet conditions. The mosquitoes were terrible.
Greens were mostly sand!
I don’t understand how a course that is so poorly maintained could be so packed with people. The greens were pretty much unputtable because they were mostly just sand.
The greens are basically sand. Worst greens I have ever seen.
I don’t know what happened to the greens. They are almost completely sand. It made putting almost impossible. The tee boxes aren’t level and mostly domed.
Okay for the $
Played this course 3 times now… its a decent course for the money. However I had to rate it low this time due to greens being absolutely un-playable. I can only assume they are doing some seeding work to redo them… but had I known that PRIOR to booking… I wouldn’t have booked. Would have been nice to have some kind of notice or heads up from the course/app.
No value at all
This place was probably nice back one the day. Currently it’s not very good. Over half the greens had sand on the greens no grass at all. The ball washers were all broken, not muck sand in the bunkers. I like the layout but the owners need to spend some money and bring up to decent standards. GolfNow had a great price but the course was in such bad shape that even at 29$ it was not a good value.
Greens…
The course has some good grass on its fairways & tee boxes (moving tee markers regularly). The greens need a lot more time to be good, probably into July. Will check back.
Poor Green conditions
The greens were the worst I’ve ever seen. 75% of them didn’t even have any grass and you had to put on sand instead. No way should the tee time have been almost 60 bucks for now poor the course conditions were. Hopefully they fix the greens or else it’s really unplayable
May Greens
Everything is really great till you reach the green, add 2 strokes & go. The course should be fully back in order come mid May. Of all the good things the course has done to improve grounds, There are still patrons that are “Over Bearing” & tearing up the course any ways. Wish they felt like I do about courses; 90 degree rule & No Carts on Par 3’s.
Greens
17 out of 18 greens were nothing but sand and dirt, no grass, its almost may and the greens are terrible
Good Shape
The course is in relatively good shape along with 3 of 18 greens. Some time in May, they should be back completely good.
Stakes & Rope-Offs along many of the Tee boxes are the main issue on the back nine. While there are a few that are damaged beyond repair, there are others that can be saved. If I can mention a few; #5 Tee, #13 Tee, #14 Tee & #16. I always have a good time playing there.
GREENS ARE NO LONGER GRASS JUST GRAVEL
This is no longer a golf course, as 3 of the 18 greens have absolutely no grass left, it is just gravel. The rest have major issues, only 2 greens are even playable to be honest. Putting is a huge part of game, this was a driving range. Hard unmanaged fairways with terrible overall greens conditions. One green has an old wood bridge I would be scared to cross, as it is old rotten wood and loose fasteners. Staff was very unfriendly, when I told the member in the “pro store” I felt ripped off, he said “i KNOW”. I will not play again unless under new management. Carts are great,, and layout is nice, wonderful practice area, but the course is being destroyed by the lack of proper care. Charge a little more and keep up the course or sell out already.
