Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Getting better
I have played this course 5 times in the last 8 months and I have always been disappointed. I will say the management is trying to make it better.
The greens are still in very bad shape, the fairways are like playing in the rough and the sand traps are mud pits.
The staff is very pleasant but there is a need for a stern marshal on the course.
Highly recommend a review of the course groundskeeping contract and spend a little on a cart person to sell refreshments on the course.
Looking forward to seeing this place mature and become the course of it’s potential.
Course conditions still an issue
I play Legendary alot. took some time off the past couple months and played yesterday for the first time in a while. Course conditions still poor. Not mowed. Greens still needing serious help. Really hope ownership can make the improvements needed. Green fees up as well.
Horrible
I have never requested a refund on a golf course in my entire life of playing golf. This golf course has got to be the worst golf course I’ve ever played in my entire life.
Go Somewhere Else
The layout of this course is good and it used to be a nice place to play. However, I suggest you go somewhere else. The fairways needed to be mowed and had clumps of grass from previous mowing. Most of the bunkers had grass and/or weeds growing in them. The greens were the worst part about this course. There were a couple of temporary greens that were tiny, hard as a rock, and the grass was worn bare. Several of the greens had loose sand on them making them almost un-puttable. Others had so many bare spots that there was no way the ball could roll true. The 2 or 3 greens that were in decent shape needed to be mowed.
Terrible shape
This course is in terrible shape and looks on the verge of shutting down but its been like this for years. Price is extremely high for the conditions. Maybe 2 greens on the whole course has areas that are puttable the rest are deviated to be nice about it. The rough is never cut so good luck finding ball if you do not hit the fairway. Mosquito are so thick due to lack of up keep that you can't hardly bare it. Its a shame this course is ran like it is. It has so much potential. The carts lets not get started. They do run but you'll see for yourself if you risk playing here. I suggest spending 20 more dollars and go somewhere great.
poor greens
Some of the greens were temporary- most were in bad shape- the better ones were slow.
Fun course to play
Legendary is a great course for beginners the greens are being worked on but for the cheapest course around you cant have it all definitely my favorite place for practice rounds and to just have a good time solid no frills golf course
Don’t play this course, the greens are horrible, at least half of the greens are temporary, and nothing appears to be getting done to fix the problem.

What happened?
Way too many greens in poor condition, multiple temporary greens, a disaster. Only two greens were close to good. This course has always been so pretty and a good value for the money. Hopefully the greens recover.
This course is not well maintained other than mowing
Greens are half grass/half sand / hard to putt - bunkers don’t drain and are unplayable - 2 holes had temporary greens of mowed fairway- storm damage limbs laying around - this course could be great with some professional care and maintenance.
Greens not good
Greens not good, sand traps not good, only move pin placements a couple times a month, not good, tee boxes need work, need a greens or course manager that knows what they are doing, reach out to TAMU for guidance. Course has good potential, can only achieve that with hard work.
Great bargain course
It is what it is here. If you can grab a deal for around $20-30, it’s worth it.
Hot & Humid
The course will still need a couple months to get greens back in shape. But the overall conditions otherwise were good. The mowing was behind a bit, due to rain & wet conditions. The mosquitoes were terrible.
Greens were mostly sand!
I don’t understand how a course that is so poorly maintained could be so packed with people. The greens were pretty much unputtable because they were mostly just sand.
The greens are basically sand. Worst greens I have ever seen.
I don’t know what happened to the greens. They are almost completely sand. It made putting almost impossible. The tee boxes aren’t level and mostly domed.
