About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Good Price / Poor Pace
My thought is, if you want to book many groups, have a Marshall to keep the pace up. Waiting on EVERY hole is not fun.

Very relaxed course

Getting better

Don't play sand
Course is good, they recently had a surprise price increase which might affect people that drive a distance to play. We play a couple times a week on SR day. If we hit in sand trap, it is a free drop. Because of all the rain the traps are seldom playable and when they are, there is about 1/4" of sand on top of a clay or dirt bottom, so we just drop out...not a problem. The course is fun, people are nice and pace of play is good. Hog's come out at night and root up fairways and bunkers, they need to hire someone to try and control that problem. Thanks,

Fairways in trouble
It appears that a herd of hogs have decided that the fairways are where they need to be. Fairway on #4 showed lots of damage, and other holes also showed evidence of damage. Some greens had bare spots, but overall better than I have seem them in months..

needs a lot of general maintenance
First time playing. Local couple who wants to start playing more consistently. We really were hoping that this would be the course. It appears to be in very poor conditions as relates to just general up keep. Most all the greens seem to have had disease of some type that is very obvious.
My wife struggles with heat exhaustion and we wanted and did play only 9. You still have to pay for 18 even though we only wanted and did play 9 holes. My feedback is to offer such a plan for folks like us. I bet its hard to police but we would love to play weekly if we could do only 9 on a week day evening.

nice for the price point
A friendly country golf course. Of course at this price point there will be a lot of beginners that slow thing down. The lay out is nice but the turf conditions need a lot of work. Greens are slow and very bumpy. I know they're trying to get it into better shape but it's not there yet.
For about a dollar a hole I'll go back just to work on my game. It needs work too.

Suggestions
As I’ve commented in the past, great layout but conditions are inconsistent.
Suggestions to owners:
- contact Texas A&M and offer paid internships to agronomy majors.
- condition course daily in this order. Greens, tee boxes, bunkers, boxes are overloaded with broken tees and are uneven, bunkers are not all raked and some have large weeds growing in and around.

Improved course
Fairways were nice and manicured , Greens were good and showed an improvement over 3 weeks ago when they were punched and sanded , Course can play long from the tips mid 10 to 16 handicapper should play from the blues at least, Still very challenging from this distance due to the narrowist of the fairways, Pro shop staff was very friendly as well as the service bar grill area, Over all great round of golf nicely secluded even though they are adding several more homes out around the golf course. Most definitely will be back.

There are several fairway sand traps that either should be repaired or filled in so they are no longer traps. Between #1 and 18, #11, #14, and #15

Always a mixed bag
I love the layout of this course. At one time, this must have been a fantastic club. Currently, the place appears to run on a shoestring and conditions are lacking. Our cart ran out of charge on the 18th fairway, so we just walked the rest of the way. The attendant in the clubhouse barely apologized and we just smiled and left. I wish it was in a better place because the design is so much fun and presents all the challenge you want based on tee selection.

Great price, greens need work!
Enjoyed the day golf was fun but the greens need work, over sanded and fertilized made for rough and bumpy putting. Sand traps need to drain a be filled.
