Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Same ole course
Course was in decent shape like always. Greens are a little fuzzy but for the price it is an excellent value. Pace of play was good. Layout is fun and each hole is different for the most part. The old lady in the pro shop was still her grouchy self. It’s amazing how she still has a job. I’ve been golfing here for years and she has literally never once been pleasant to deal with.
Pleasantly surprized
For the price point this is a terrific course.
Right now there is good grass in the fairways,
Greens are a bit bumpy and slow, but once you get use to them its all good.
I understand there is a new owner, I hope they put some money into this course. It could be a diamond in the ruff with the right course management, and green keeper.
Good course, but bunkers need to repair
Overall good experience with exception of the one of their employees - the older lady at the reception who was rude to me and to other customers including one member. Being friendly cost nothing so this is certainly the easiest step for the course to improved. The course conditions could have been better. Bunkers have practically no soft sand, hard as dirt and full of water which doesn't soak. Fairways and greens are ok, but nowhere near the quality of for example Moody Gardens. Course layout is probably the best asset. Very nice and interesting holes and beautiful landscape of rural Texas. It is also very affordable so it is a good value for the money.
Back 9 invasion
Great front 9. Back 9 suffered from an invasion of random golf carts "touring" the course - on cart paths and crossing fairways. Seems management turned loose carts of non-golfing pre-teens and others from a reception room party. They should have closed the course if they were going to do that. A kid cart ran into trees, others drove across fairways while tee shots were in flight, and drove up to us (from both directions) while preparing to play shots from near the cart path. Will ask if trandom roaming is going to happen again before booking another early afternoon week-end tee time at LO.
This course is in great shape.
This course is a good place to play. The greens are in excellent condition. Great course for the money.
Family Time
Played with my family it was a great place for a family. My wife and daughter are learning the game and we had a blast. Played late afternoon so we didn't get in anyone's way. The staff was great. We will be back.
Flat and Boring
I have NEVER been charged an additional $5 cart fee just because I was a single. When my playing partner arrived a little late, instead of calling me back to the clubhouse (20 yds away) to pair us up and refund it to me, they charged him an additional $5 also. It didn’t matter since we never saw the cart girl until the 18th fairway.
The greens were rough from the poa annua peaking through the Bermuda. Not that they had been mowed recently. I bet they stimped at 6. And signs everywhere for cart path only? The grass and grounds were as hard as a rock. No reason for that and no one payed any attention.
First Sunday in May
Course continues to improve. Greens were a little slow but in great condition
Always an enjoyable round.
This course if definitely worth the drive from Houston. Very friendly staff, a very challenging course and you just can't beat the greens fees.
Good value in rural Texas
Layout is ok with and so are greens, although they currently have a little weed problem that needs some attention. But if you don't wanna pay much for a peaceful round of golf about 35 minutes northwest of H-town then Legendary Oaks is right up your alley.
Interesting layout
This course has some unique holes with dog legs right, water hazards surrounding one green like a moat [ nice ] ground's maintained well, greens need a little work a little [ bumpy ] but should come around real soon , have not played here in over a year; definitely seen improvements enjoyed the round and will be back soon Mary in Pro Shop was very nice and courteous making you feel very welcome, overall a very nice round of golf experience
Monday
Enjoyed serenity. Good track layout. Greens a little bumpy. Good course for value.
LEGENDARY OAKS GOLF
all in all a good place to golf, reasonable rates and clean facilities. the snack bar is somewhat lacking with minimal items for sale and not sure if they have a grill to make hot sandwiches. Carts work well and grounds are being maintained, greens are fair and improving with care. i have played twice and am headed back for another round. distance is not an issue. Coolers are allowed or can be rented while on the course.
5 hour round
Now take this with a grain of salt because it was Good Friday, however this was ridiculous. I had a tee time for 1:50, did not start until 2:30 because they didn't have any carts. There was literally a line of people waiting for carts. As I was waiting for a cart in the back I heard a group of 7, yes 7 come in and ask to play again. The lady in the pro shop said they wouldnt be able to because they were packed, however they took their 3 carts and rolled up to hole #1 anyway. Not once did I ever see a Marshall either. I understand it was a busy day but never should there be a group of seven playing together or never enough carts when I have an advanced scheduled tee time. Other than that, course was nice and we played two days after 5 inches of rain fell with no issues besides water in the bunkers. Overall good course and I would play again on a less busy day.
