Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

5 hour round
Now take this with a grain of salt because it was Good Friday, however this was ridiculous. I had a tee time for 1:50, did not start until 2:30 because they didn't have any carts. There was literally a line of people waiting for carts. As I was waiting for a cart in the back I heard a group of 7, yes 7 come in and ask to play again. The lady in the pro shop said they wouldnt be able to because they were packed, however they took their 3 carts and rolled up to hole #1 anyway. Not once did I ever see a Marshall either. I understand it was a busy day but never should there be a group of seven playing together or never enough carts when I have an advanced scheduled tee time. Other than that, course was nice and we played two days after 5 inches of rain fell with no issues besides water in the bunkers. Overall good course and I would play again on a less busy day.
Cold and wet winter and heavy play takes a toll
We play this course often as it's conveniently close. There has been a great increase in play on this course after all the flooding and subsequent loss of west and northwest Houston golf course and this has created a much slower pace of play and there is rarely a marshal to move things along. The course conditions have been a challenge with the weather over the last few months and the greens are showing the challenge, about half of them have been invaded with poa annua and become very bumpy although we have seen workers removing this weed grass by hand on several of the greens. The golf shop staff is very friendly and knows us by name.
Golf with Friends-4 1/2 Stars
I have played this course regularity for the last year and I always have a great time with good friends.
I gave the Off-Course Amenities 2 stars because of no restaurant but there are good restaurants close by in Chappell Hill and Hempstead. There are snacks, sandwiches and drinks. (Not complaining just informing)
Legendary Ladies
I always love walking in the clubhouse and get a happy face from Louise and Erlene. This really makes my round go better.
Not worth the course rate.
If it was not for the cheap price listed on GN, I would not have played. This course is not worth the standard rate which is not the same and the on-line price listed on GN.
Good course for the money.
Best course in the Houston area for the money. Greens are better than average. Overall the course is above average given the economical green fees
I really like the Tuesday and Friday $20.00 green fees for seniors includes the cart. Very playable
The only drawback is the lack of a better snack bar.
Wrong Day Good Experance
It was the snow day, 1st in 8 years. But the coarse was cleared, wind was gentle and the company as always was good.
Great course
My wife and I play this course quite often. Especially when the weather gets cooler. We normally play 18 holes in less than four hours, and we are both between beginners and intermediate golfers. We like to start play on weekday (we’re both retired!) afternoons finishing our round about 5:00 pm. Never are we pushed from overcrowding like most of the northwest Houston courses are. Most of the time, it’s like having the golf course to yourself! The wonderful people they have working in the pro shop are always nice - to say the least. The course is normally in very good condition.
Great golf course !
My family and I have enjoyed your golf course for 2 years now. We have enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the features the course has to offer. The pace of play has never been an issue and is appreciated. Overall your course is A+. Thank you for having a family oriented course to play on. Keep up the great work !!!
The course was in great shape and the staff was great.
The fairways and greens are in great shape. They have obviously put a lot of time and money into the course on the improvements.
