Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Golfer Reviews
What a nice change of pace!
I finally played a round here after passing the course for years on the drive to Austin. I didn't expect too much, but I thought it would be something different. My buddy and I were very surprised at what a neat course this is! It's a pleasing layout with nice changes in elevation. But the best thing about it was the quiet! Except for traffic noise on the holes by 290, the course was a wonderfully quiet place. The greens were good, and the approaches were usually open enough for a bump and run. The fairways were great and the ball sat up nicely. They do have a bit of a gopher problem, but we joked that they needed Bill Murray to deal with that! The day we were there, traffic was super light and we played too fast - so we bought another 9 holes! The pro shop staff were friendly and helpful. This was such a nice experience that I've already booked another round!
Excellent! Thank you for your review gmeadows72! We're glad you had a good experience at the course and are excited for your next round!
Golf course was too hairy
Golf course needed mowing. The greens were ridiculous. Putts would die after feeling you hit
It too hard. Fairways were too long. The rough on either side of the fairways
were 6" tall. Made it difficult too find your ball. It took too long too find your ball.
9/7/16
Booked on a non senior discount day because of SLOW play(final straw was when told if I wanted to play faster I should not play golf). Start to first tee 5 minutes early to find 20+ people backed up with group already teed off. Questioned lady in shop, no real response. If I have a tee time, I do not expect to have to wait 30-45 minutes to get started.
Need to mow
They need to mow tee boxes and the rough needs to b trimmed, greens and fairways are great
Nice Course
Good course. Will play it again. The ruff was lush and tall when we played and we lost a few balls in it. However, due to all the rain the prior couple of weeks, grass in the ruff was so tall they couldn't get out to cut it. But the fairways were taken care of and good. Greens were also good. The staff were really nice. Course was a pleasure to play.
Bang for you buck!!!
What a nice place to play...price is right, layout is challenging...shortest 3 par is 155 yds...a couple holes have construction but that's easilly overlooked...overall a fantastic day
Held up well
With all the rain we've had, there were only 2 holes that were cart path only. The fairways and rough, understandably were a little deep but the green were a nice surprise. The staff was very pleasant.
Course cleanup
The course needs a lot of work especially cutting the grass
Great course
This course is fantastic for the money, I have played way worse for more money.
Good value
New owners are trying hard to get course in shape removing fallen trees, ect.
Little slice of heaven
I know I'll regret encouraging an increase of traffic, but it's the right thing to do. The layout is outstanding with challenges and options for every level of player. For the most part, the conditioning is very good, especially for the fees. I mostly enjoy the serenity of the place. I understand the surrounding housing development will encroach eventually but for now...just go enjoy a very unique round. If I lived closer, it would be s no brainier to be a member.
Great course
Course was in great shape, but they always run out of carts and we have to wait for them. We teed off 40 minutes late.
Weekend Nightmare
I have been playing this course 3-4 per month for the last few years. It is close by and a convenient place to play. However, as of the past few months, management has lost all control over the course. They do not take or honor tee times, walk up players are allowed to come in anytime and tee off at will whether there are openings or not. This has resulted in extremely slow play, ignorant players that have little or no respect for the game and the marshals have zero effect on play. Management allows this to continue time and time again. Perhaps reviews such as this will get management's attention.
To their credit, they have poured a lot of money into the course over the last few years and the resulting increase in play is great, BUT, in the long run they are going to lose players and therefore cash flow if they do not start enforcing course rules and etiquette.
While I would love to recommend this course to folks, I can no longer do that until things change for the better of the customer.
I found "Sleeping Beauty"
Was asked to fill in for someone. The course is about an hour away from my house and never heard good things about the course so I wasn't inclined to drive that far for a mediocre course. It was quite a drive but I was rewarded with a challenging course in good condition. I ended up having a very enjoyable afternoon and intent to tell my friends that this place is a sleeper. You may have to pack a lunch for the trip there - but you will be rewarded once you get there. I'd give it a solid 4+ in my book. I'm anxious to return.
This course has everything you want.
This course is a good test for the average golfer. It has some demanding teeshots, and many of the holes have water hazards, out of bounds or both. All the par 3's are fairly long especially from the blue tee's. The course is in good condition and the greens are great, not too fast, not too slow and the ball seems to roll very smothly. I especially like the practice range. Good targets, good turf and a very nice chipping green.
Golf Now Deal
Paid online and they had an additional charge. Also they had a tournament going which delayed pace of play. The course is okay, but poor management. I am not planning on playing here anymore.
Pleasnt surprise
This course is a little jewel. It's well kept and several holes are quite challenging. I was expecting a goat ranch but was surprised to find a quality daily fee course. Fairways were green and maintained. The greens ran true, although they don't have a lot of inundations. Good deal for the money and worth a short drive from my home in Cypress
And we hope to see you again pakalz! Thank you for your review!
