Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

A nice country course find in Hempstead
I have played this course several times & it is starting to improve condition wise. The fairways have slope to them...either uphill or downhill & not easy to judge distances on some approach shots...I like this visual uncertainty. I came up short on par 5 & ended up in the water on 3rd shot to green, and wondered how. Once on the green I looked back at the fairway & realized just how much uphill it was. Considering all the rain we have had lately, the grass was high, and the greens have suffered abit. Once the summertime rolls around, it should be in great shape. Only 40 minutes from Cypress...all freeway. The $5 single cart fee is bogus though. Fun course.
Great course for the price
Played an afternoon round for $13 with a hot deal. Weather was perfect, mid-70's, light wind, and not a cloud in sight. Fairways are bare in spots and hard as a rock right now, but not bad for the middle of February. I'm normally about a 240-250 yard driver and got several near 300 with roll. Greens were in pretty good shape and putting a lot faster than the practice green which took a couple of holes to adjust to. Only real negative this round was they were resanding the greenside bunkers so couldn't play out of a few of those, but can't complain about course maintenance.
This course isn't anything special, just a good place to play if you are a beginner, bad at golf, or trying to tweak your swing.
Family outing
Has a great time, my son took me out for my birthday and we had a blast. The greens were a little fast and I three putted several time but still enjoyed it.
Great value
They are putting some money into course upkeep at LO and the results are paying off. Played with my 11 year old son the day after Christmas and were rarely pressured by other groups.
Good value
Nice drive out of town. Not a lot of people on the course. Played at our own pace. Would easily play again. Did have some construction on one of the holes with large tractor on it.
Good place to play golf
It was good place to play golf. I strongly recommend you.
Nice Easy play
The greens were in GREAT shape, me and my golfing bud played in 3 hrs. If you can keep it in the fairways it an easy course to play
Very Clean
We enjoyed our round. We chose Legendary Oaks because my wife Is a beginner. didn't want crownds
We let one two-some play through. It worked out great
Legendary Oaks
Played this course for the first time and it was ok. Great price but just average course. Tee boxes were pretty tore up and no one bothered to fix their divots. fairways were so so. Greens were pretty good and fast. there was some construction going on when I played but didn't make for too much of a problem. Overall for the price I paid from Golf Now i'd play again.
Course was in good shape
The last time I played on this course it was in pretty bad shape. They have done a nice job fixing the course up this spring. Not the most difficult course, but then I am not that good of a player - so we complimented each other! Was proud that I made a par on the sixth hole where the green is surrounded by water!
good coarse
This coarse has improved greatly. I would play again.
Loved it!
This course is out in the country side and is beautifully maintained. From tee box to green the course was in good shape, the greens were fabulous! Nice challenging design with hidden little ponds. They are building a community around but for now there are only a handful of houses and cow pastures which make for aesthetically appealing views and an enjoyble round of golf.
awesome greens
This is a great coarse to play. The fairways are clean, the greens are well managed. And it puts a challenge in your game. The staff are always friendly and ready to help.
great value
this is a fun course. It has several very interesting holes. Overall the course is in good condition. Bunkers need a lot of work. We have seen steady improvement in the condition of the course over the last few months. The new owners are starting to make a difference.
Golf course for beginner golfers.
Overall course conditions were very poor. Bunkers not maintained and fairways bare in large areas. New golfer looking to learn and work on the game, this is a price point location for them!!!
New owners
We have been playing this course for years. The old owners have always been friendly and accommodating but had let the course get "rough around the edges" .
The new owners are doing a good job of cleaning things up but are not friendly at all. They do not know about customer service. We had made a tee time to walk but were told when we got there "no walking allowed, cart only" " we want to make money" . After we were "forced" to pay for a cart and had played two holes two players were pulling carts behind us walking!
At the turn from 9 to 10 we went in and asked about this and was told " he a member" the lady at the desk was rude and Min was even more rude. We finished the round and told Min that we may not be back. Too bad for him.
Worth the drive
Greens are in excellent shape. Fairways are in good condition. Course layout is excellent and there quite a few holes that are very challenging.
This is the first course that my son has ever played and he loved it.
We will going back to play again.
Greens in really good conditions
Course in good condition considering the Texas heat. Staff tried to charge extra, above "What owed at the course" receipt from GolfNow said was due. Just beware if you don't like to haggle with clerks.
Golf
Course is in really good shape. Greens are excellent. Was a nice time. 3 of us played and had fun.
Leisurely pace for 4
I took my two brothers and dad out to this course, two of them have very little experience with golfing, and we had a great time. We hardly saw anyone there and were able to take as much time as needed on each hole.
