Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Continues to Improve
Legendary Oaks continues to improve. It is significant improvement from the beginning of the year. Fairways are in very good condition and the greens had nice speed to them. They still need to dry out re-sand the bunkers though. I am seriously considering joining as a member.
Great Course!!!
Me and 2 buddies got the $17 hot deal tee time at 11 o'clock on Saturday 8/2....none of us had ever played Legendary Oaks before so we didn't know what to expect. I had read a few reviews prior to heading out there so i knew the course was in decent shape but boy were we surprised when we got out there.
This is an awesome lay out and there are some really beautiful golf holes, especially on the back 9.
Greens were amazing and the overall conditions of the course were definitely better than average.
It is safe to say that i will be going back out here ASAP.
Renovating
The course is going through a renovation process, but over all it was in good condition! The grass trimmings could be picked up a little out side the fair ways though! Lawn mowers were going all hours of the day, but overall it was good!
Great course for the money
Great course for an affordable low amount of money. Greens are in good shape and course is kept in good condition.
Rolling fairways
Nice course for the money . Had a foursome and one of the players had his wife riding . On the turn the clubhouse tried to take cart away , because they did not have enough carts .
Legendary Oaks
Course was in best condition in quite a while. Greens and fairways good. Could use some more work on the sand traps.
A good value for the money
The course is in good shape. The fairways are brown, but I expect that in June in Texas. The greens have subtle breaks and require your attention. Some of the rough is playable, some is not. I played from the whites because about 6,000 yards is plenty. I like to putt for birdie rather than hit hybrids for bogeys.
The tee boxes are in good shape.
I would play this course again.
The greens have been repaired!
New ownership has made a difference, the course is actually getting watered and the greens are better than any other course in the area. I have played this course dozens of times and today was the best I have seen it. I actually had good soft grass to hit off of in the fairways!!! Tee boxes need some work and be prepared to be hit with a hidden "extra cart fee" if you play by yourself which I don't agree with at all. Why they charge an extra $5 for 1/2 cart I just don't understand because if you play alone it's less use of the cart not more. I'll play again with someone but not alone just on the principle of the unlisted cart fee for single player.
review
course is under new ownership...needs some work but lots of potential...for the price i will go again
Great course for intermediate players
Course and greens are well kept. Pace was a little slow, but I went I went on a Sunday so that may be why. Facilities are nothing fancy, but acceptable. BYOB is very nice, food is reasonably pices, also they sell 6 for $10 with a cooler. There are several hazards and out of bounds so I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, but great for everyone else.
Good for the money
Driving range needs upgrade. Looks like the took lost ball and used them as ranges balls. Greens seemed very slow.
typical muny course
fairways thin and greens inconsistent at first but got smoother after 3 holes. overall with oaks trees and water not a bad layout.just tee boxes and fairways need some grass
Legendary Oaks Friday
Greens in great shape, rough drying out some. Overall great value, worth the drive.
Legendary Oaks Great Deal
Course is challenging and could use a little work . Greens were good and pace of play good. Great value for 30 bucks.
A nice outing
I was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice drive from Houston on the Blue Bonnets and other wild flowers were blooming. The course was not too busy and it has enough challenges with water and sand, it made for a great day with the wife!
Fairways need a lot of work
This course needs some work. The fairways had a lot of weeds and such growing right in the middle which would prevent a fairway shot from getting some extra roll. It also made hitting an iron difficult from some spots, felt like I was hitting out of the rough when I was hitting from the fairway. Sand traps were also difficult to hit, most of them were very firm. Greens were OK but a little hairy in some spots, definitely not the fastest although I made a few decent putts. Overall place was empty as I went on a day that had thunderstorms in the forecast and was very windy. Was a single but they didn't charge me the $5 fee. I probably would have left if they did as driving to the clubhouse I could see from my car the condition of the fairways. Since it was empty I asked the owner if I could play another nine if I wanted and he didn't have a problem so extra stars here. Overall I was a bit disappointed since I traveled an hour to get there, but in the end I just wanted to play and enjoyed myself. Pace of play was great since the place was empty.
Enjoyable
Have played this course several times and always enjoy it. The new owners are making improvements and the course seems to be in better condition each time I go.
Took my son to start learning - a great course for him to learn, have fun, and not get too frustrated. Very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
First Time
A little confusion on the first Tee, due to a large visiting society playing a tournament, once sorted I enjoyed the Round and hospitality, course in reasonable condition considering the weather recently, over all, a pleasant experience
This course has relaxed environment.
Friendly staff, not crowded, country atmosphere, relaxed environment.
Decent country course with pleasant surprises.
I've played here 6-7 times, nice country course with
a little elevation change here or there. Fairways are
rough but greens were true & in good shape. $5 cart fee for single is bogus, probably will keep me from returning.
