Eagle Ridge Golf Club - Pines Course
About
The Pines Course is one of three nine-hole courses at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood. The Links and the Ridge are the other two. The courses can be played individually or as three different 18-hole combinations. The Pines Course is named after the mature, tree-covered landscape. It and the Ridge Course make up the original layout at Eagle Ridge G.C. They were built over a sand and gravel quarry that was used to help build the Garden State Parkway in the late 40s. The unique and undulating topography is a result of this. The towering pinelands lend a sheltered feel to the course as well as a challenging element to the game. There are also strategically placed bunkers that come into play along the greensides.

Great Day
A very nice round of golf with family and friends, course was in excellent condition and couldn't have ask for a better day weather wise. The serenity and beauty of the course is one to be experienced and as such for our group was the right place to be on such a somber day in American History.
Great layout but players abuse course
Great layout. Not sure why but players do not replace divots (sand bottles provided) or repair ball marks. Fairways and greens looked like a mind field. Suggested to the Starter that they provide each player with a ball mark repair tool on the 1st hole with a little instruction on how to use it and how to replace divots in the fairway. A small price to pay for maintaining the course in "A" condition.
Best public course in the area
I play this course at least once a week. Always in nice shape and the 3 different 9s always keep it interesting.
Love to hear that you play here often. We take pride in the course's appearance. See you soon!
Course in great shape
Enjoyed playing this course , would have gave pace of play 5 stars but the twosome they put us with were very slow in their play.
Sorry about the twosome you were paired with. We take pace of play very seriously at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
Sweet
Second tee time of the day. Played the course in 3 hours 10 minutes. Greens are in really good shape on both nines (ridges and links). Will definitely play again
3 hours and 10 minutes! Good for you! See you soon!
Fantastic Course
This course is outstanding, from the staff to the course itself. One of the best I have played, and I plan to return very often.
Thanks for the great review. We look forward to you returning very often!
Ranger with bad attitude!
I have always enjoyed playing this course. And this started out the same way. However by the third hole the rangers was on us a out our pace of play. Yet there was no one in front or behind us. We closed the half hole gap and made the turn. We stopped at the turn for a drink and took the four minute ride to the 10 tee. As we came off the 10th green the ranger was back only this time with a nasty attitude. I was playing with a member and was shocked to see the behavior of this employee. Puts a real damper on an otherwise nice round. So rather then let it go I stopped in the pro shop and spoke with the assistant pro. Rather then a simple apology he defended this out of cotrol ranger. Very disappointed.
Just wanted to update my post. I did as the Course requested and sent them an email to follow up. Got NO response.
I appreciate your comment. I'm sorry to hear about our rangers. However, pace of play is a very important issue to us. Please email us at Allen@eagleridgegolf.com so we can rectify the situation.
Will play here again
Great conditions greens in excellent shape staff super friendly recommend playing all 3 courses
Thanks for the great review! Look forward to having you back soon!
Eagle Ridge
I love eagle ridge
3 awesome 9 hole tracks
At times pace of play can be an issue however yesterday we went as fast as we liked. Unfortunately it was 98 degrees real feel over 105 so we couldnt move too quick.
Course layout is awesome, fully equipped with a range and bar.
A few gripes
Not enough water coolers in the ridge and links course
2nd the members of the course are always nasty.
The positive review is greatly appreciated. We will work on the water coolers. That weekend the weather was brutal...Kudos for sticking out 18 holes!
Below expectations
The club house and staff was good and helpful . However, The course layout felt cramped and poorly designed. It's s a 27 hole facility that should and could be a championship 18 hole course. Many of the holes felt for lack of a better term "gimmicky". Narrow and poorly designed landing areas for tee shots on most holes with overgrown fescue. It's just a typical senior resort course not worth anything over 50 a round. This coming from a well traveled digit handicap.
Great condition
Course was in great condition. Well manicured and taken care off. A few holes besides the par 3s are walk only. Most fairways are wide. On the pricey side so try to play with a discount when available.
Fun & Tough Course
Its a great looking course that always gets the best me.
Fantastic price for the round even though I lost a few balls.....
Improved
The pace of play has finally improved. We finished in just over 4 hours. WOW. Management is doing a good job focusing on this problem. The staff has always been first class and friendly. My only minor complaint is that the beverage cart had very little to buy. How about pretzels Arizona beverages. Etc. Gatorade and Pepsi does not cut it. The sign on hole nine advertising to call in your food order should also have a menu with it.
Played Ridge & Pines - Fun place to play
First off, be careful when booking your round as I did so through Golf Now but somehow ended up booking a round at Eagle Ridge in California. The woman in the Pro-Shop said it happens all the time so make sure you double check when booking. Anyway, despite my mistake, they were able to fit my friend and I in with another 2some teeing off at roughly the same time I thought I had booked. We played from the Blues on both the Ridge 9 and Pines 9 and even from the Blues, it felt like a short course. The tips (Blacks) are another 400 yards all together but we felt that for a fun round on a Sunday morning, we would stick with the Blues. We showed up for our 8:30am round about an hour early and hit some balls to warm up. The practice range is very, very good. You are able to hit off grass to several mock greens with flags and yardages, which in my eyes, is far better than simply having a flag stuck in the ground as an aiming point. It is great to be able to warm-up while aiming and trying to land your ball on greens from whatever distance they are measured out to. Once we teed off, the pace of play was so-so. That being said, it was a perfect morning weather-wise and was the Sunday of Memorial Day long weekend so we knew there would be a lot of groups playing. We played Ridge and Pines (Links is the other 9 making up the 27 holes they have there) and both 9s were in great condition. The course (both) is definitely short though and Driver is not needed on several of the par 4s but can be hit if you are comfortable hitting those 50 to 60 yard approach shots. The tee boxes could use some work, though they are flat. It just seems like the tee box grass is different than the rest of the course...almost like some kind of farmer's field grass. But, they are flat, and that is pretty much the most important thing. The fairways are all nicely maintained and you can find yourself nice flat lies most times. No fault to the course itself, but the divots made by golfers are everywhere. Players who only play a couple of times per year usually do not know the etiquette of replacing your divot, or they just do not care. Same goes for the green, unfortunately. There are so many ball marks on the greens that you feel compelled to fix 5 or 6 more on top of your own. That is about the only "complaint" I can say about this place....other than the divots, the course was in fantastic condition. The greens rolled nice and true and were fairly quick. The greens are big enough too to where you can easily have a 60 or 70 footer over some mounds with break. Quite a challenge if you are not accurate with your approach shots. I ended up shooting a 78 that very easily could have been a 73 or 74. Again, I had 4 3putts, all resulting in a bogey, after starting with a look for birdie. Frustrating, but they had nothing to do with the course or conditions. It is clear that maintenance really takes pride in the course and it shows with how nicely taken care of the place is. I would absolutely play here again and probably will 2 or 3 more times over the summer. The price is right and the drive is less than an hour for me. It is a fun course, is in good shape, and is challenging enough for even the most skilled of players. I know I have a low number waiting for me at Eagle Ridge later on this summer and cannot wait to make it official. Do yourself a favor and get out there....but please fix your ball marks and divots, especially on the greens!!
Play here all the time never disappoints
We play here, and all over almost year round..weather permitting in the winter and it's always challenging and in great condition.
Great layout
Conditions good, greens on the slow side
Slow pace on the back nine - this is what happens when you have players from the Links and the Ridge converging on the same back nine. They're doing this to save money?
going down
played this course many times, really disappointed this time. Greens very bumpy and inconsistent. Pace of play was horrible. Things are going down hill here.
Ridge/Links
3 nines here. Ridge and Pines are the best. More playable than the Links. Course in good condition, although greens were a little bumpy. Just didn't enjoy the Links with it's blind shots and cart path only on some holes. Just off the fairways is heavy rough, beyond that not much chance for a decent lie.
Eagle Ridge in a Class by itself for Ocean County, Prime Rib OUTSTANDING
Always love to play this place, 3 nine hole courses, all in great shape, greens a little faster on the Links course...The weather was Great. One take back I have with this place is the Staff attention....Tee time was purchased thru Golf Now...and was made to wait at the counter in Pro Shop to check In while person was talking to what seemed to be a friend or maybe a member...but just tell me I will be right with you...No less I was purchasing 2 pieces of Apparel which was not cheap...Now this is was got me...I had planned for Dinner there on Prime Rib nite...which we did eat there and Rib was Outstanding...another $125 spent...but when I asked guy in Pro Shop if I can talk with someone in Kitchen about certain Dietary needs for one in my group he did not know how to get in touch with kitchen and told me just go back there and walk in...REALLY...anyway that's my story
Eagle Ridge
The golf course was fine, but I had 1 major objection. The second 9 we played the Links course. There were many blind shots and we could not figure out the proper line or layout on many of the holes. We found ourselves in trouble when there was plenty of room to the other side of the hole. Often the Tee box lined you up to go in the wrong line.
