Derrell Witt had a hand in many of Carlton Gipson's successes, including Houston-area tracks like Greatwood, and the impressive renovations at BraeBurn Country Club. Pine Crest was his first solo project, and he was able to use his background in landscape architecture to move over 250,000 cubic feet of dirt tocreate 13 lakes that form the basis of this semi-private course. The water helps the crew keep it in lush condition compared to other courses in the area.
The best hole is the last one, playing 571 yards into a narrow, tree-lined fairway with an approach over water to the green.

Good Day at golf
Had a greet day. No traffic play was good. We had no interruptions, other players very curtious.
good challenge for an amateur golfer
The course is decent shape and it offers a good challenge for an amateur golfer (without losing too many balls).
The bunkers had little sand which made it complicate to get out, other than that I would definitely go again.
Also because of the and the GN hot deals
Don't waste your time or money
I walked on anFriday afternoon and the guy in the pro shop told me if I hurried he could get me out before the weekly skins game started. Boy what a let down. I played the first 3 holes before I got to a hole with a sign marker identifying which hole it was. The green had sand on them not from being aerated, but there was no grass. And they charged me $46.00 to play here. It probably used to be a nice course, but those days are gone. Don't waste your time or money!
As Webster defines "Cow Pature"
After playing this course I looked up the definition of "Cow Pasture" in the dictionary, they should place a picture of this course at the front. In my opinion this course hasn't seen any upkeep in a long long time. The tee boxes were so hard it was usually difficult to get a tee into the ground. The fairways are dry, burnt and bare in many places. A majority of the hole informational signs at the tee boxes were missing as were ball washers. Long weeds grew along the edges of the fairways. The greens were recently aerated and over-sanded making the ball bounce to hole rather than roll. Almost every green was devoid of grass at the edges. The 10th hole poses a unique challenge in so much as the driving range runs at an angle toward it and the right edge and part of the fairway was littered with range balls.
I WOULD ADVISE ANY GOLFER TO AVOID THIS COURSE AT ANY COST, IT IS DEPLORABLE!!!
Save your money!
They Shouldve paid me to play that dirt track! Used to be a decent course until new ownership took over. .. they clearly have no intentions on maintaining anything..from tee to green absolutely disgusting. .I felt like agent Smith from the Matrix.."it's the smeeeeeell!!!" The $33 I paid was way too much! Don't do it!
Good layout, a bit beaten
This was the third time I've played this course. It represents good value, it has well designed holes, but doesn't get country club manicuring ( hence the reasonable price). If you expect this you'll like it. If not, then find somewhere else more expensive. The locals are friendly to play with if you don't have a foursome.
Poorly maintained course
Went for a midweek round. The experience wasn't very good once I got on the course. It would be a decent enough course if it was in better shape, with plenty of water holes to make it challenging. The greens were in poor condition at best, loads of bare patches and bumpy to say the least. The majority of bunkers were like concrete with a thin spreading of sand and small stones on top. You get what you pay for.
sand on greens
I like this course, but at the moment they are doing some maintenance on the greens and the day we played we were forced to play the front nine twice. We paid online and since we were there we just played the round... avoid for a couple of weeks or call to see if greens are back to normal!!!
sad sad course
I used to play this course frequently when many years ago and the last 3 times out it has just been a terrible experience. Each time i arrived around 2:30 (with a tee time) and they dont have any carts available and you have to wait on one to come in off the course. Both times we waited an hour and a half because there were a dozen people in front of us waiting too and we teed off around 4 and since the round takes just under 5 hours, we didnt come close to finishing. Second, Even if you land your drive in the fairway there is a 75% chance you are going to be on a concrete-like patch of dirt. The carpet in my living room is faster than these greens. Its almost like someone put a couple million dollars into it 5 years ago and hasnt touched it since then with the exception of mowing the dirt and raking rocks. I get more and more disappointed every time I play. I wouldnt pay more than $20 to play and thats only to work on my swing, not to have an enjoyable round of golf.
An entertaining Day
Enjoyed a course that is well alid out with varying challenges depending on what Tee's you play from, found the fairways and green in good condition considering the recent weather, staff were friendly and helpful, will play this again
Good for the price
This course will not blow your socks off, but for what you pay on a Friday afternoon, it's a pretty decent course. Good length with both water and bunkers in play on many holes. Fun to go out and play.
Tight course
This course is average. It is winter in Houston, so the fairways are hard and the grass is crispy and brown. The greens are bumpy and slow, especially on the front 9.
The bunkers are in bad shape; they are mostly dirt.
Fast pace even though we had a 4 some in front and a 5 some in the back.
Not bad considering the fairways needed more grass. WInter rules applied even though it was a beautiful day but fairway grass needs some attention. Bunkers were hard with minimal sand.
Greens were good. Course is challenging and hopefully when summer comes and grass tarts growing the course will be great.
Played in under 4 hours without rushing even though group in front of us were all over the place, they maintained a great pace. Kuddos for their consideration.
Very dry course
I've played many times in pine crest but recently, the greens are more brown than green, a lot of sand and many pitch marks. The course could be fun but too hard to have any feeling on the greens. Plus some bunkers are filled with mud instead of sand. Won't probably come back in the next 6 months
Okay
The course isn't the best, but it's in a great location and pretty close to my apartment.
Good value
Pleasant surprise. Good holes, pretty well maintained . Sand is inconsistent, thought greens were Ok for winter. A little too much water in places you don't expect on the back nine. The 18th hole is dumb.
Slow Day
I started by myself, but joined up with the group in front of me by the 5th hole. The whole day it was hit and wait...hit and wait. The course is in pretty decent shape for winter, so no real complaints about the course. I like the course and would play it more often if the pace of play wasn't always so slow.
Nice tight course
Neat course. Tight with Water. Drive it straight and you have no problems.
Poor conditions
Painting/marking the greens doesn't change the fact that thy were bare. Not worth the money. There are far better courses to play. Don't waste your time or money.
Don't waste your timeor money.
The staff was friendly and the pace was very good. Other than that.....don't waste the time or money.
The greens were bare and sprayed to give them a greenish color, The dirt on the greens, although painted green, still did not roll true. Some were fast and some slow.
Not worth the time to play here, there are much better places in the area.
