About

Derrell Witt had a hand in many of Carlton Gipson's successes, including Houston-area tracks like Greatwood, and the impressive renovations at BraeBurn Country Club. Pine Crest was his first solo project, and he was able to use his background in landscape architecture to move over 250,000 cubic feet of dirt tocreate 13 lakes that form the basis of this semi-private course. The water helps the crew keep it in lush condition compared to other courses in the area.
The best hole is the last one, playing 571 yards into a narrow, tree-lined fairway with an approach over water to the green.

decent course for the value
This course presented an array of challenges. Made more for the left-handed golfer in mind it seems. Great course for the buck. Not so great if your looking for a greener course. Could use a little help in some areas of the course. Overall, I enjoyed!
Staff Friendly = Course very wet
Course was still very wet considering it had stopped raining the day before at 15:00 hours. The play was very slow due to the water and the fact you had to stay on the cart path = they may want to look into better drainage. I was set to play a round of golf by myself and then was asked to pair up with another person. I complied and had a good time with the houston resident who guided me several times, since he knew the course well.
good value
There was not a lot of waiting with an 8 am tee-time. Recent rains left everything green - little too much standing water in a few places and sand traps definitely needed attention. The greens rolled true and were in good shape and there's plenty of ponds and streams to work around. For a good practice round with different shot challenges, you can't beat the $30 GolfNow teetime.
very enjoyable to play. Easy to get on. had a great time.
Had a great time .Well maintained course and challenging .
Nice track in reasonable shape - great value for money
The Pine Crest track surprised me with its variety of holes and looks in spite of being land-locked within West Houston neighborhood. The fairways were a little patchy - probably a drought effect - but the greens were pretty good. Firm and moderately paced. A reasonably challenge from the 6800+ yd boxes. Pace of play slowed down toward the end on a hot and humid day. Didn't see a marshall all day, which might have helped at the end.
Greens
The greens had been sanded recently, but they rolled true. Not really bumpy or too slow. They are getting ready for the winter grass. I would go back for 25$. Was a good day to play.
Not the best
The course had one of the highest priced specials on GolfNow for our recent trip to Houston for a Texan's game so I wrongly assumed it would be good quality. It is not. Greens were fine and fast. The fairways were thin and patchy despite sufficient rain in Houston the past month. Also, there were two fivesomes on the course in front of us on a Saturday. This is unacceptable in my opinion. I could not in good faith recommend this course to friends. Somehow they have a Karaoke bar onsite if that helps!
Great deal for Westside of Houston
Just played Pine Crest for first time today. The greens are running fast and true. The fairways are in decent shape and they keep the rough cut low so it's easy to find balls that miss the short stuff. It's a fun course with a variety of holes. The bunkers need some new sand. The clubhouse is obviously 90s era (when the course opened). Staff were cordial. Carts are electric and in good shape.
It was fairly busy on a Friday afternoon during twilight. I am not surprised. There are lots of private courses but other than Sharpstown to the south and Memorial Park to the east, there aren't many public courses near Memorial area in Houston.
I definitely see myself going back but this place is best done on one of their twilight deals or through Golfnow because it doesn't quite justify the full price weekend rates they are charging.
Beautiful Scenery
I enjoyed the view from a few of the tee boxes and the course was challenging, which I truly enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, considering it was my first time on this course.
The price was great! I will play this course again!!!
The only distraction was the landscaping crew. It seemed they were at every bunker I was at.
Fast Greens
Under-rated course, definitely great for the value. The course is fairly well maintained just a few holes with hard panel all around the holes, bunkers were in great shape.
Good course, good challenge, good pace of play!
I've usually enjoyed playing here and I can see that the course has recently improved. I always appreciate the staff friendliness as well as the fact that the pace of play is quick...even when I'm solo or a twosome...and it's a decent challenge!
Hard course, good fun
This course has a lot of water hazards and for me and my "average playing" friends, it was pretty difficult! I was disappointed that on a Sunday there was no cart girl, but I understand not every course has that opportunity. The wait staff was cordial and decent. They could have been a bit more friendlier to new-commers, but you get what you pay for I guess. Speaking of, I think $46.00 + for golf with no cart girl and a par course is a little steep. If they're not going to have those kinds of amenities, they should be able to drop their prices a bit.
Nice course
Got a great deal in golf now. Fairways somewhat hard and the greens ran fast. I will play again.
great course, will play again
The only thing I did not like is that the driving range balls get to the 10th hole alot. Be careful when on that hole, you may get hit if you don't put your ball on the fairway.
That is the only bad thing I can say about the cousre.
I will return.
good staff, course in good shape, good round time, good price, I will return.
Bang for your Buck
It is is hard to find a good course that is cheap inside the Beltway. I live inside the loop, so distance from my house is a big concern. One of the other great things about this course is that it seems like they always have tee times available.
In regards to maintenance, you kind of get what you would expect for a course of this price.
Challenging but not worth the money
The course itself is challenging, but a shot off the fairway is definitely going to be challenging and most likely on hardpan. Greens do roll pretty good. 90% of the bunkers aren't worth ruining your club in.. Definitely NOT a $50 course... You cannot walk but who wants to in Houston heat. I would recommend it for someone but not to pay full price.
I like this course, very convenient to me
Friendly enviroment, I often play and enjoy this course. Quiet busy over the weekend.
Good value
Actually paid $27 after tax for an early Saturday afternoon round. Other than the group behind us hitting into (actually over) us, thought it was a good deal. They do need to refill their water stations regularly and/or have beer girls.
