About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Course was busy.
Greens very nice.
Starter not friendly but efficient. Carts tired
Fairway entrances and exits quite worn and dusty.
Prepare to wait
The course had major pace of play issues a couple years ago when I would come here often. After finishing my first round after coming back, I can confirm that it has somehow gotten worse. I had a 1:20 tee time and was not able to tee off until around 2pm. I was only able to get through 12 holes in about 4 hours after paying $70 for a round that I assumed would get me through the full 18 holes. Absolutely not worth the price until they start spreading out tee times like every other course does. I would avoid until this is done unless you enjoy watching the people in front of you wait on the people in front of them.
Great condition, slow play
We left after the 15th hole because of the slow play and we weren't about to break any course records anyway. The greens were in great shape. The driving range wasn't in the best condition. Staff was very friendly.
SLOW PLAY!
It was over five hours for our round today. We started by waiting an extra 20 min after our scheduled tee time. The group in front of us was waiting on a fivesome in front of them. The group in front of us were easily 25-30+ HCP, yet playing off the tournament blue tees, and hitting multiple balls off the tee and fairways; no Marshall in sight. Tee times are not regulated and there should never be fivesomes on a weekend afternoon. Pitch marks litter the greens as well, and half the divots on the fairways are not replaced or filled in. All around highly poor management at this course. It’s a shame considering it could be a very nice track. I will not be returning to this course.
