Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Convenient location....but
With a limited number of public courses in Katy, Cinco Ranch Golf Course can pretty much charge whatever they want for green fees. $70 was a bit excessive for a mediocre course. Course conditions were sub-par with some drainage issues particularly around the greens. It should be noted that the area had a significant rain 48 hours before. But still expected better fairways for the price. I'll certainly give this course another chance in the spring when turf is in better condition.
Love this course BUT...
Love playing this course but the greens were horrendously bumpy. Like they haven’t been rolled in a month. Seriously, about 1000 ball marks on every green. Tee boxes and fairways were in ok shape for December. Just wished the greens were smoother.
Cinco Ranch late fall
Course was in absolute great condition! Could have had a few more red caution flags out where fairway was muddy...other than that, greens were fair and well maintained...
Staff very friendly as usual here at Cinco Ranch!
Only one ‘bug-a-boo’ I have: too many range balls on the range...maybe could pick them up quicker before they obstruct the ones we hit.
Great Course with Slow Play
Enjoyed the course but with no Marshall’s the pace of play was real slow
November Golf at Cinco Ranch
Course is in good condition, greens were quick but fair
Paired us up with 2 similar level players and had a wonderful time playing with them. Only complaint was 2 foursomes in front of us were much too interested in playing around than actually playing golf. So with 2pm tee time, and very slow players in front, we only made it thru 16 holes, which was disappointing. But overall a good experience, and look forward to playing Cinco Ranch again soon
Great course close to home
Fun course to play. Easy to walk on. Pace is a bit slow mid morning but it was great weather so still enjoyable.
Halloween
Pace was slow, but not painful. Greens were in pretty good shape, but a lot of pitch marks. There were no rakes in the bunkers, and there was no sand on the carts, so a lot of open divots in the fairways as well. Otherwise an overall good experience. Friendly staff as well.
