Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Disappointed
The course was in decent condition. The greens were relatively fast, but riddled with pitch marks.
The part of the experience that bothered me, was the fact, when I asked for a bag of ice, I was told only if I bought alcohol. I do not drink alcohol, and tried to explain I wanted to keep my water and redbull cold, but was denied ice without the purchase of alcohol.
Sad, the pressure to drink when golfing at this place. I want to play golf, not get drunk.
Cinco Ranch
Very convenient. Nearby my place. Staff members are friendly. Early morning players won't have any issue with traffic
Late January-Late day round
Course was in very good condition for the amount of rain we have had...in particular the many, too many sand traps were in super condition! HA!
Folks were extremely friendly and competent.
Restaurant had great menus selection-I had the avacado/ham/egg over easy on toast-fantastic, as were the french fries.
Green were true and fast. Perfect!
Will definitely be coming back again!
Good course for the money
I like this course. Play out here a few times a year and generally in good condition and moderately priced. If you can find a deal probably one of the better courses for the money. My only complaint is it gets backed up on the weekends so I try to get out there on Fridays or for a twilight round in the summer when there is plenty of sunlight. Overall good condition and reasonably priced compared to most of the other courses in the area.
Good golf
Great day at Cinco Ranch, course was in good shape even after rain in area the last couple of days. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will be looking forward to play this course again
Course great GolfNow not so much
The software double booked several teetimes that morning and we were in a bind. The course manager pulled some strings and jumped through hoops to get us a tee time after we had already paid. Apparently the software did not communicate properly.
Nice to get back to a well maintained Course
Been a while since we had Played Cinco Ranch out in Katy. The course is usually always in good conditon but for winter/fall golf the fair ways and greens were in perfect condition. Tee boxes on a number of the holes had recently been redressed /sodded or they would have gotten 5 out of 5. Fast smooth greens made putting a nice experience compared to a number of lower end course we had played in between. The cart person was by often and provided complimentary coffee. Pro shop staff and stater were very nice as well. if your tired of playing on courses that don't upkeep in the winter than suggest you give Cinco ranch a try again. Worth the extra 20 to enjoy a nice track.

Excellent course; in good shape. Greens particularly in good shape!
Staff very helpful and friendly!
Overbooked
Pace was too slow! There were 7 of us with the same tee time! Pro shop staff are friendly but I cannot say the same to the starter.
Marshall needed
We played on a not very busy day because the Texans were playing at the same time. After six holes, we got stuck behind an extremely slow play foursome that couldn’t care less about we waiting and never looked behind.
It’s a shame how irrespective golfers have become, with absolutely no knowledge of the etiquette rules of this game.
A Marshall is needed in order to “educate” golfers about behaving in a Golf Course. Course was in good condition
Good price for fall golf
The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch is a good fall value. With other course in the area its hard to find a better value than Cinco Ranch. Course is is real good shape. With the cooler weather and precipitation we still have been able to get the GK has been able to provide a fair yet challenge test of golf.
Quick afternoon round
Starter is super friendly and funny. He gave the cart with number 82 and said hope my score will be that number. Pace of place is a bit slow, but it’s not that bad.
Nice Course
We were able to get our round in ahead of a large group of senior regulars. Staff was informative and friendly. The course is challenging on a number of holes. Greens and fairways were well kept. The challenges range from fairways that require thoughtful shots, greens that had multiple breaks with, at times, difficult pin placement and bunkers that were strategically located.
Love the Course - Run and managed poorly
First off I like the course, its a great track with challenges, but good golf shots are rewarded.
I will not be back until they figure out how to manage a course - This is not the first time I have experienced the following situations, chalked it up to maybe a bad day... but when you repeat the same issues its simply a problem.
Booked a tee time for Sunday afternoon, so we did not expect super fast play - when your starter lets 2-some after 2 some off instead of pairing people up thats just bad management. When questioned the response was "people don't want to pair up..." only place thats public I know that lets golfers run the show like that. Then to have no ranger out checking in on pace of play is just the cherry on the top... played 4 holes in 2 hrs and left... again not looking for super fast pace but over 4 hr pace for9 holes? too many great options to deal with this.
Fun Challenge
This course has everything you'd want in a golf course. There's just enough trouble to keep it interesting, but not too much to slow play down. From the blue tees, there is a good variety of short, medium and long holes. The par threes are fair, par fives are reachable, but demand a good tee shot to do so. The course is not very pretty. It sits in the middle of a suburban area so there's really no water features except for a couple small ponds and not much color. But for a public course, the greens are well maintained and the course overall plays nicely. I think it's a fun course to play.
