Golf Club at Cinco Ranch

With all the rain we had I was shocked at how nice the course was. It was in really good shape. The greens were pretty slow but ran very true. I attribute the greens slow pace to the fact that haven’t been able to mow consistently with the rain. Good course good conditions.

Amazing course. Fairways in great conditions and Greens are in really good shape.

Range ball area need to be moved Back/forward more often.

Good price for evening games.

This course is in incredible condition. The only issues I’ve had are pace of play.

Played a round monday at ~6;00pm as a solo and ran into a threesome on hole 3 where they waved at me and I thought they meant for me to play through but they didn’t. Another solo came up to me around 3 or 4 and asked if he could play with me since we weren’t moving. We played all the way through 9 and they never let us pass. Instead of going to 10 behind them we went back to 1 and got in 6 holes before dark. Took about 1/3rd the time to play the front nine the second time.

Played again on thursday at ~1:45 and was paired with a twosome and a solo. This time the pace of play was dictated by our group. We were holding a twosome behind us on every teebox after hole 3. I tried to pick up the pace of play for our group as the twosome grouped with me was not in a hurry and not regular golfers.

They really need rangers out on the course dictating the pace of play. Maybe they’re understaffed as I only saw the beverage cart once on Thursday.

TLDR;

Fun and challenging course in great shape, but be prepared for a long round unless they get some rangers to dictate pace of play or spread out the tee times which is unlikely. I’ll still take my chances if I can play this course under $35.

The course layout is fun.. The raised greens make it challenging and although the fairways are wide you can find yourself in trouble off the tee if you’re not keeping it in the fairway off the tee.

I played this course twice this past week and had problems with the pace of play on a monday ~6pm start time as a solo golfer. On Thursday I had no trouble with the pace of play with a 1:42 tee time in a foursome.

Either way the course is in great condition, and has some fun and challenging holes.

Checkin was simple, (forgot my mask, so i had to go back to the car). Online fee did not include warm up range balls, add $7 for small bucket. the range balls where good, some new, but Practice tee turf below average. Starter was helpful, played blue tees, fairways in good shape. Greens very green, thick, on grainy side, held shots well. Several par 4s are the same, 2 good finishing holes. Pace of play was great, 2 of us played in less than 3 hours starting at 1:30. Saw drink cart twice, regular gatorade $4

Loved the course. Undulating fairways, which is different for Houston & surrounding. Course was in very good shape given the dog days of summer, greens looked great but VERY slow. I’m sure this is necessary with 100+ temps though, so it happens. Only strange thing was a random guy wandering around 16, 17, and 18 fishing for golf balls, not playing golf. Watched him take a players ball who had just hit it into hazard. A very unpleasant exchange ensued between the two guys. Not to mention, the guy stood there and watched from the hazard as I hit my tee shot on 18. Just a really strange thing to see on a golf course. With that being said, absolutely go play Cinco Ranch. I’ll definitely be back.

Good fairways, predictable greens, traps could use some work

Always a pleasure to play at this course. Staff are always friendly and the greens are in excellent shape

The worst stocked drink cart I have ever seen. 97 degrees and they don't have water, alcohol selection is minimal, no whiskey only crown, and they only had that one time around.

First time at this golf club. I had a 6:24 tee time for today. Arrived on time and checked in. Was told by pro shot assistant where to get key and cart. When I went to get the key for the cart, I was told I had to wait by a gentleman who ended up being the Starter as well, as he walked away. I stood around for approximately 5-10 minutes and then a golf cart attendant got me a cart. I loaded up and proceeded to the Starter Shed, where there was a sign stating “be back soon”. Not knowing the setup and procedures I waited for another 5-10 minutes. When the starter showed up, he informed me that I missed my tee time and my group was in the fairway of the first hole and I should proceed to meet them, which i attempted. Actually the group had already teed off number 2. I had enough and called it a day. To make matters worse I attempted to get a refund and was told that because I used Golf Now App, I had to go back through them. That’s when I realized how difficult it is to contact Golf Now folks. No easy way, no phone numbers available. In my frustration I went back to the golf club and got a rain check. Very frustrated at Cinco Ranch Golf for screwing up my day and Golf Now for not having an avenue to contact them when you were dealt a bad deal.

This is by far the best public course in the Katy area. Busy but the staff is friendly the course is in great shape.
