Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Great neighborhood course
This course has everything a great Houston suburban course can offer. It is relatively more expensive than the courses on the east side of Houston, but it is in nice neighborhood so it is understandable. Most interesting is probably hole 11 which needs smart shot from tee box with a long iron to avoid ball rolling downhill right to the pond. I would suggest to put the scorecard and some description of holes on the webpage.
Great round
Excellent course and condition. Not many golfers out due to heat. Finish in under 4 hrs. Great facility and friendly staff.
Good Value
Fairways were in good condition. Greens were recently pushed and still had a lot of sand on them. Good layout with some challenging holes. I played in the middle of the day (very hot) on a Golf Now hot deal, which is the reason for the low fee.
Nice course
Almost perfect, the course was in great shape and greens was smooth.the pace of play was also good, small delays on two holes #4 and #8 everything else was great. The weather was hot but this is Texas. Really good day of golfing
Hot round
The temperature outside was hot and so was I had a great time and great round course was in great shape and that was the result of my score 74 not to bad. Green's we're great and rolled sweetly smooth. Will go back!
Course was in great condition
Course was in great condition and pace of play was excellent. Also had a hands on staff who were very attentive including a cart gal who was hustling.
Personal best round
Shot a 79 from the white tees. Helps that it’s a par 71. Emily at the pro shop offered me a deal on a monthly membership that I might just take next time I play there, since Cinco Ranch is my closest course and I’m usually out there about 3 times a month at least. Play was about average in time, taking 4 and a half hours. Lots of groups out and I ended up joining two different ones. Play moved along despite the traffic.
Good Course For Beginners/ High Handicappers
This course has an enjoyable layout. The par 5's are challenging, and difficult to get a birdie/eagle on. The staff is nice and the greens are in great condition. I have played here every once in awhile for ten years, but this might be my last. There are just too many cons to this course. Its location causes tons of people to play it, and it tends to high handicappers and beginners so expect a 4:30+ pace of play. There used to be gps on the carts but they got rid of them because they were expensive. These are really needed here because there are tons of blind spots on the course. When you couple the slow pace of play and the many beginner golfers, you will have anxious and oblivious people teeing off right at you when you are hitting your approach shot. There is also no marshall. So people, annoyed at slow pace of play, try skipping around holes only to find that there is nowhere to go, and that they just got in your way. There is a starter though, which is pointless, because after you finish the first hole you can literally go to any other hole on the course and they wouldn't know. Finally, the greens on this course are enormous - too big in fact. If you do not have a rangefinder and know the exact distance to the pin, it is pointless to play here. You may hit an approach in the center of the green and have a 30 yard putt. I would not recommend this course to anyone with a handicap under 18.

Picked the right day
Sometimes it’s good to be a retired NWS Meteorologist. I saw that a 40% chance of rain was forecasted. That’s my personal upper limit to play. While some storms were south of the course, they dissipated, leaving a relatively cooler day under a high cloud cover. I had the whole course to myself by the back nine, played 18 in 3 hours. Folks, most golfers are scared off by any mention of rain. 40 % means that at worse, you might have a short interruption and that you will likely not get rained on. Check the percentage of precipitation. Hole 13 is a tough layout. Wish they could put a culvert in on that creek and cover it up. Otherwise, nice facilities, well worth the cost.
Fully satisfied
The greens were in fabulous shape. The traps were in good shape, too.
The fairways were a bit hard with some browning areas and some browning areas in the rough. Otherwise, we had no complaints. I been coming for over 15 years and will be back.
Excellent conditions but very slow play
Everything else were perfect—greens, fairways, except a very slow pace. Waiting time was terrible with two groups on a tee box in certain holes. A few group in front played foursomes scramble. This made 5 hours and 15 minutes round.
Good course
Lots of water. Some slow players but other than that it was a fun day. I think people were looking for their ball too long as there was a lot of water.
Cinco Ranch
Nice course, semi challenging. Greens were somewhat fast. Fairways kept well. They didn't have any energy drinks at the bar or shop, that was a little bit of a let down. I could have sworn Cinco ranch used to have the golf carts with GPS screen on it to measure distance from hole etc. those were gone this time.
Worst Pace of Play Ever
The course itself was in good shape and was fun to play. The pace of play, however, was absolutely terrible. We had at least a 5 min between each hole (even worse before par 5s). The pace of play alone made this our group’s worst golfing experience. If they could fix that, I’d be happy to come back. Otherwise, I can confidently say that was our last visit.
