About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Tuesday Afternoon at GC Cinco Ranch
Course condition was good and pace of play was normal. Staff were very accommodating and professional.

Great course, BUT.................
Course was nice. Greens were good. Bunkers had lots of pebble rocks. Some bunkers are nothing but rocks.
Pace of play was horrendous. 5 1/2 hours to finish a round. Never once saw a marshall.
We saw the beverage cart ONE time. We even called the Pro Shop to request one, but she never came.
Restaurant was closed so there was no place to watch the Masters.
For the price point, I would expect a beverage cart and someplace to eat, and watch TV, after your round.

Great course
I will likely be buying a membership for this course. I golfed here for the first time over the weekend and really enjoyed my experience besides the staff member in the shack with the range balls and cart keys was rude. It was like I was an inconvenience to him for being there for the first time and having simple questions. Like I said besides that I had a great experience and the course is great. I will most definitely be back.

Fun Local Course Conditions Average
We’ve played Cinco Ranch for many years. It’s a fun layout with a friendly staff, but the course conditions can very significantly throughout the year. While the greens and the bunkers were in good shape this March, the fairways were quite tight with a lot of hard pan in play. I don’t think we had more than a few shots with an even a slight cushion of fairway grass. Hopefully it improves as we get closer to the heart of Texas golf season.

From Out of town
Visiting from Austin. Course is in much better shape than the ones in Austin. Pace of play was over 5 hours but was a very busy day. Nothing you can really do about that. Driving range is grass but when you have hacks like me messing them up for the rest of you it makes it pretty tough to get clean lies warming up. I would visit again thanks for the hospitality.

Cinco Ranch Very Playable
Booked easily via GolfNow, check-in easy, range grass was threadbare as were some white tee boxes, fairways in fair shape sparse or thin in some areas, greens in excellent shape, good value for the money.

Great Course, Good People
My buddy and I played a 5:10 pm tee time on the course and this was our first time at Cinco Ranch. They were very helpful providing instructions for first-time players. They informed us of the two different driving ranges located on the course. They were able to provide a great overview of the layout of the course.
On this particular day, it was very windy and it sprinkled for all of two minutes. It was really busy for a Sunday evening. There were tons of people at the driving range and finishing up their games. I believe we were the last tee time and that was great because there wasn't anyone behind us. The 5:10 tee time only allowed for us to play 12 holes which was fine for the price.
We got paired with two other gentlemen who were very nice and better than us at golf. They were patient and helpful.
There were no drink carts or restrooms so make sure you stop at the club house between holes 9 and 10. Overall, the greens were great for all of the rain we've been getting in the Houston area. The course was challenging but not impossible. A lot of the holes have ponds and are next to the bayou so be prepared to lose balls unless you're good.

Solid Course
Cinco Ranch is a solid option for Houston courses. One of the few driving ranges you can hit off grass. Challenging greens and well kept fairways.

Sanded greens
Took a while to adjust putting on the sanded greens.
Also it appeared that mowing of the fairways was a couple days overdue. There was a noticeable lack of roll. Traps were in rough shape with mud and some standing water. On a positive note, the Marshall does an outstanding job as does the crew in the cart barn.
