About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Nice Course
I like the layout and the course conditions. Plenty of different configurations creating a challenge for every club. Greens were a little fuzzy after the rain but overall rolled fairly smoothly.

Slower than a mule
Even though I teed off 30 minutes before my tee time, but the pace of place is horrible. There are at least 2 foursome groups in front who don’t know how to play but played from the blue tee. Not only that, they just waited for the their group to be clear from the green so they can tee off. CR mgnt needs to send out Marshall to check on the course. I ended up leaving after playing only 8 holes. What a disappointed round.

Palace of play is hit or miss
Played here Tuesday morning 7:50 tee time, it was the fastest round I’ve played here in years and it still took 4:45. Cart girl came out once we got to 18th fairway. It’s a long walk between some holes.

Fun Course to Play in Houston
Cinco Ranch has a very nice practice facility. Layout is challenging depending on tee box. Other than water, most balls can be found. Fairways are in very good condition, rough can be a bit spotty. Pace of play was good. Greens were in very good condition and tracked true. A lot of bunkers can come into play, #16 a par 3, has 11 bunkers. Personnel were very friendly. Overall, a fun course to play.

Tuesday Afternoon at GC Cinco Ranch
Course condition was good and pace of play was normal. Staff were very accommodating and professional.

Great course, BUT.................
Course was nice. Greens were good. Bunkers had lots of pebble rocks. Some bunkers are nothing but rocks.
Pace of play was horrendous. 5 1/2 hours to finish a round. Never once saw a marshall.
We saw the beverage cart ONE time. We even called the Pro Shop to request one, but she never came.
Restaurant was closed so there was no place to watch the Masters.
For the price point, I would expect a beverage cart and someplace to eat, and watch TV, after your round.

Great course
I will likely be buying a membership for this course. I golfed here for the first time over the weekend and really enjoyed my experience besides the staff member in the shack with the range balls and cart keys was rude. It was like I was an inconvenience to him for being there for the first time and having simple questions. Like I said besides that I had a great experience and the course is great. I will most definitely be back.

Fun Local Course Conditions Average
We’ve played Cinco Ranch for many years. It’s a fun layout with a friendly staff, but the course conditions can very significantly throughout the year. While the greens and the bunkers were in good shape this March, the fairways were quite tight with a lot of hard pan in play. I don’t think we had more than a few shots with an even a slight cushion of fairway grass. Hopefully it improves as we get closer to the heart of Texas golf season.
