Kings Creek Country Club
About
From the tips, Kings Creek can play particularly tough because of the prevailing winds off the shores of Cedar Creek Lake. However, on calm days this course can be had, since the layout is fairly basic and features water on only six holes. In the late 1980s, the course became known for its improving condition, and that reputation has held true over the years.
The front nine is shorter and a little easier than the front, its toughest hole being the 200 -yard No. 3 over water. No. 14 typifies the longer back: a 576-yard marathon with water on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Dallas, take I-175 south, then turn right on Hwy. 274. The course is 2 miles down the road.

this course has great features
The staff was nice and courteous. The course has a nice layout.
Almost perfect
The course is in great shape coming off a horrible winter and in a few weeks the greens should be perfect and they are double cut and rolled. And for the price it just can't be beat. Mary at the front desk is the nicest possible and truly helpful and kind.
Tommydoyle
Tee box was open the staff let us Tee off before our time. At the end of the round they invited us to come play in the scramble this weekend.
All the lakes and water hazards are full making the coarse challenging. Early Spring and the grass in the fairways is there but getting ready to get good. Greens rolled true just a little hard at this time.
Teed off on number 1 and never had to wait moved around the coarse with ease. Brand new carts with ball and club washers on each cart.
Enjoyed the round and will do it again in the near future.
Nice course for the money.
Nice course for the money and challenging as well.
Some good some bad
Layout is good
Fairways are not good at all no grass and real hard
Greens are real hard ball bounces when you try to fly in and there real fast at times it's one side of green to the next
Beautiful
The course was in good shape for this time of the year. There is was no shortage of water. Very nice! I can't wait to play here again.
Excellent greens
For winter time the course was in great shape. The greens were the best we have putted on this winter! The Easy-Go carts appeared to be brand new and were a pleasure to use! A ball and club cleaner was a handy item incorporated on the carts! Club pro was friendly and informative! Looking forward to our next round at Kings Creek!
The true definition of "Hole in the Wall"
This little course, as it turns out, is not far from my house, which is a great thing, and here is why....
1. Upon arrival, my golf partner and I were greeting IN the parking lot and asked if we had a tee time, which of course we did.
2. Upon check in, we were greeted and treated like Club Members. It was warm and friendly and cozy, most likely because they knew how many balls we were about to lose, details on that in a bit.
3. The clubhouse staff even took notice of my golf partner's Disabled Vet plates and offered, let me say this again, OFFERED, up one of their personal Blue HC Flags for use of the cart.
Now, on to the darker side, which I am glad to say, this course does not have many. While it being a Par 70, it is still a Moderately difficult course. What makes this course so difficult? All the water. After having played in Florida for the first time at Christmas last year, it sordidly reminded me of those courses. Water, water, water EVERYWHERE! Remember how I thought the staff was being nice because they knew how many balls we were going to lose? I lost a fair amount, as did my partner. The only real downside to this course is that if you are to fall in behind a foursome that are members of the Course, DO NOT expect to be able to play through. We were on schedule for a just over 3.5 hour round, and we got slowed to a 5+ hour round. Oh well, it was still fun all around, and we both had great fun with the challenge and we will MOST DEFINITELY be playing this course again in the near future. I would also recommend this course to anyone of any skill level that is on the course to have fun. As far as serious play, I would not recommend this course to anyone that has not been playing golf for at least 6 months and has some decent control of their shots. Just my two cents.
It's a fun course to play if your a average player !!!!
The front 9 is a wide open range. When you make the turn water is in play on every hole. So it's like 2 different courses!!! It's fun to play
Worth the drive to Kemp
It's an easy drive out US 175 to Kemp, and worth it. KCGC is one of the nicest affordable public course around. Interesting variety of holes and challenges.
Pretty course
More mowing would help. We were losing balls in the fairway at times.
Old course with still lots to offer.
The course is in great shape. Also, I enjoyed the variety of hole designs with long carry over water par 3's and at least one challenging par 5 at 576 yds. Overall nice course
Course was fun but could use some work
It's a little rough but still a fun course to play. need a few signs to direct traffic holes are oddly placed
Best hole is always the 19th!!
this course has gone through alot. Mangament changes and severe drought are the two most important though. It's always been a great atmosphere inside the club house, but outside on the course, it's in rough shape. They do there best to maintain it but with the lack of rain, it really comes through. All and all I love the course and will continue to play it. Not much of a discount through golfnow.com versus regular rates. It's not in horrible condition, but what's needed on the course, has nothing to do with a lack of effort. They try real hard.
The front nine was decent, but the back nine was horrible. The fairways need lots of care.
Played this course because of an awesome special through golfnow. The course is wide open with plenty of water hazards. Overall, the course played the way the amount of the green fee that we paid. Great price.
Nice course, good greens, friendly staff, great value.
For the money, it's an excellent value. Greens in good shape, fairways decent. Nice staff.
The course was enjoyable to play.
I did not know what to expect since I had not played this course in over 10 years. My understanding is that the dry weather caused problems in the prior few years. Right now, however, it is an enjoyable course to play.
Fairways are defined, rough is long, and ball settles in which, in most cases, doesn't allow for a lot of advancement down the fairway when you get into it. I enjoy the fact that you must try to avoid the rough, and keep it in the fairway. Penalty is distance when in the rough.
Green recently punched, however, everything already coming together.
Very rude staff, questionable pricing, and course needs attention
My wife and I have been going to King's Creek for many years. We moved from the lake area to Plano about 8 years ago but we still continued to drive out there to play golf at least once a month. We began using golfnow.com to book our tee times quite some time ago. My complaint is that I was booked at golfnow.com for one amount and when I arrived, the lady at the front desk charged me quite a bit more. I explained that we booked through golfnow and it should be cheaper and she said no. She seemed quite rude and pre-occupied and did not want to hear it. Okay fine, my wife and I paid the full amount, got a large bucket of range balls, and a few drinks and headed out to play so that we did not cause a scene for the tournament players that were in the clubhouse. Once we finished, I went in upon returning our cart and got 2 drinks. The same lady said it was one amount, then said she would have to go ring it up in the bar. So I gave her a twenty and when she returned she said, oh, it was a even more. Something seems wrong about this scenerio. I for one, am very unhappy with the way things are done there now. Even the grass is freshly mowed but the dead clippings are so ridiculous, I wonder if they mow or hope the clippings kill it. Hard to find a ball when the clippings are 4 inches thick. If this is the kind of customer service we can expect, we will save ourselves the time, effort, and money to drive an hour to your course and take our pleasure somewhere else where it is truly appreciated. I would recommend the same to other players.
A lot of water hazards.
Kings creek course is in good condition considering the weather.
Charming course
Although not long, Kings Creek is a challenging and fun course. Plenty of trees and water to account for and when the wind is blowing you really have be aware...it can be a 2-3 club wind at times. This course is a great value for the money and will give any level golfer plenty of challenges.
